The 12 persons, acquitted in the July 11, 2006 train blasts case , were charged of being members of the banned Students' Islamic Movement of India SIMI ).The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) had alleged that some of the accused had received training in terror camps in Pakistan The roles of the accused are as follows:1) Kamal Ahmed Ansari: Died in 2021 pending hearing of the appeal at the age of 50. Ansari was a resident of Madhubani district in Bihar and was accused of receiving arms training in Pakistan. He was also accused of planting the bomb that exploded at Matunga.2) Mohammed Faisal Rahman Shaikh: The 50-year-old accused from Mira Road in neighbouring Thane district was accused of being one of the main conspirators. As per the prosecution, he had obtained money from Pakistan, assembled bombs and planted one of them in a train.3) Ehtesham Siddiqui: Aged 42, Siddiqui was accused of carrying out a recce of the trains and planting the bomb that went off at Mira-Bhayandar.4) Naveed Hussain Khan Rasheed: Aged 44, Rasheed, a call centre employee at the time, was accused of assembling bombs and planting one that exploded in a train at Bandra. He was a resident of Secunderabad and was arrested from there.5) Asif Khan Bashir Khan: The 52-year-old was accused of helping assemble the bombs and planting one that exploded at Borivali. A civil engineer, Khan was a resident of Jalgaon and accused of being a key member of SIMI.List of accused who were sentenced to life imprisonment:1) Tanveer Ahmed Ansari: Resident of Agripada in Mumbai, the 50-year-old was convicted for attending terror camps in Pakistan and also conducting a recce of the trains.2) Mohammed Shafi: Aged 46, Shafi was accused of running a hawala racket and procuring money from Pakistan for the blasts.3) Shaikh Mohammed Ali Alam: The 55-year-old was charged with assembling bombs at his house in suburban Govandi with the help of Pakistanis who had sneaked into India. He was also accused of being a member of SIMI.4) Mohammed Sajid Ansari: The 47-year-old resident of Mira Road was accused of procuring timers for the bombs and helping assemble them. He was also accused of harbouring two Pakistani nationals.5) Muzammil Rahman Shaikh: The 40-year-old youngest accused in the case, a software engineer, was accused of getting trained in Pakistan and also conducting recce of the local trains.His brothers - Faisal and Raahil - are also accused in the case but were never caught. They were allegedly the main planners of the conspiracy.6) Suhail Mehmood Shaikh: Aged 55, Shaikh was accused of having taken arms training in Pakistan and also carrying out a recce of the trains to be targeted.7) Zameer Rehman Shaikh: The 50-year-old was accused of attending conspiracy meetings and also receiving training in Pakistan.

On July 21, when the Bombay High Court acquitted all 12 men convicted of the 2006 Mumbai train blasts — also known as the 7/11 bombings — some credit was due to this little-known coalition that kept the pressure alive, along with the efforts of the Maharashtra unit office of Jamiatul Ulema-e-Hind . Wahid Shaikh, who helped found the network, is visibly happy, and yet combative, seated in his two-room tenement. It's where Shaikh, a school teacher in Nagpada, central Mumbai, spends most of his after-school hours running Acquit Undertrial, his one-man YouTube channel that amplifies cases of alleged wrongful prosecution and demands compensation for acquitted convicts. It was here that he recorded a congratulatory message for the accused and their families the night before the verdict. 'I was 100% sure that the High Court would exonerate them. I recorded it before the order was pronounced,' says Shaikh. He should know. He was one of 13 men arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for the train blasts. He spent nine years in Arthur Road Jail before being acquitted in 2015. The only one to walk free at the time.

Agra conversion racket: Girls lured via social media, linked to Pakistan, say police
Agra police investigating an alleged religious conversion racket on Saturday said that several rescued girls were found to be in contact with individuals in Pakistan who discussed Islamic beliefs and allegedly aimed to convert them. Some of the girls were reportedly influenced by Kashmiri women who criticised Hinduism and promoted Islam as part of the larger network's efforts. Arrested accused Abdul Rehman aka Rehman Chacha (Sourced) 'We have interrogated 14 arrested individuals and spoken to the rescued girls. It was found that they were in contact with people in Pakistan, who spoke to them about Islam, and with some girls in Kashmir who reportedly influenced them to adopt the religion,' Agra police commissioner Deepak Kumar said. According to officials, Pakistani individuals identified as Tanveer Ahmed and Sahil Adeem were frequently in touch with the girls through social media platforms. 'The network targeted youth, particularly those involved in online gaming, and used encrypted platforms and foreign contacts to push conversion,' a senior police officer said. The racket, according to the police, was operated by two converts, Abdul Rehman alias Rehman Chacha, earlier known as Mahendra Pal, and Ayesha, formerly SB Krishna, who are now in custody. 12 other accused arrested so far have allegedly confirmed their association with them. One accused, Rehman Qureshi, allegedly raised funds through crowdfunding and maintained transactions in cryptocurrency and foreign currency with individuals based in the Gaza Strip, according to the police. Officials further revealed that at least three members of the group were proficient with the dark web and communicated through encrypted apps and coded signals to avoid detection. According to police officials, girls allegedly targeted by the network were rescued from Dehradun, Bareilly, Aligarh, Jhajjar, and Rohtak. Police said the victims are being interviewed to gather further details. Last week, Agra police rescued a woman from Haryana and another from Uttarakhand. The latter, aged 21, gave her statement before a magistrate in Agra under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). She is now considered the main witness in the case.
