The blaze engulfed the building before it could be doused. Three fire engines responded to the emergency. The response team broke the windows on the first floor to ventilate the smoke before extinguishing the flames. The fire consumed curtains, furniture, papers, and files on the premises within no time.
Confirming that an FIR was lodged in the incident, commissioner Ashish Pathak said, "An investigation is being conducted by a committee under the direction of additional commissioner.
Old workshop scrap and the 2013 log book were burned in the fire. No records of the city bus were damaged. Previously, the office of MPSRTC was located here, and its records were also kept here. The fire broke out in the workshop office section.
"
A Congress delegation led by leader of opposition Ravi Rai inspected the city bus company's office on Sunday to evaluate the damage. Alleging a foul play, Rai stated, "The fire occurred in the office's record room and the cupboard was empty.

There was a large pile of papers in one spot that caught fire. The electrical boards were only partially melted, whereas in a short circuit fire, the boards would have been completely burnt, eventually spreading the fire.
It is evident that the fire was deliberately set."
Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, when questioned about the incident, mentioned that he was in Patalkot and learned about the fire through media reports since officials had not informed him directly.

Woman assaulted by kanwariyas in Haridwar after her scooty brushes against kanwar pot
Haridwar: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a group of kanwariyas near Rishikul in Haridwar when her scooty grazed past a kanwar (pot) on Sunday night. Pankaj Gairola, SP (Haridwar city), said, "The assaulted woman is yet to file a formal complaint. However, we've ordered the local police station to collect her details for further action. " A purported video, in which a group of 7-8 kanwariyas, including a woman, could be seen engaging in a verbal spat with the victim (whose face is not clearly visible) and then pulling her hair and physically attacking her, was widely circulated on social media platforms. The identity of the victim was not revealed by cops. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police arrested two kanwariyas for vandalising a mobile shop in Haridwar. "The two kanwariyas have been identified as Mukesh alias Jhandu (34) and Mukesh alias Kana (20). Both belong to Fatehabad, Haryana. An FIR was registered against them under BNS sections 126 (wrongful restraint) and 135 (assault or use of criminal force), among others." The shop vandalism incident may have been caused due to a price dispute, police added. In yet another incident, kanwariyas breached a police barrier near Rishikul whilst attempting to access the Delhi-Haridwar highway on Monday, requiring police intervention to direct them towards the designated kanwar route. Eggs hurled at Rath Yatra devotees in Toronto: Viral video sparks outrage; Naveen Patnaik demands MEA action
Screengrab from video by Sangna Bajaj A peaceful Rath Yatra procession in Toronto was disrupted when residents of a nearby building allegedly hurled eggs at devotees. The incident gained attention after a video went viral on Instagram, capturing eggs thrown near the procession. Narrating the incident, Sangna Bajaj wrote on Instagram, 'Someone from a nearby building threw eggs at us.. Why? Because faith makes noise? Because joy looked unfamiliar? We didn't stop. Because when Lord Jagannath is on the streets, no hate can shake us." The Toronto based user said the procession continued despite the disruption with participants maintaining their devotion and spirit. 'We were stunned. Hurt. But we didn't stop. Because hate can never overpower faith,' she said. The attack took place during Iskcon's 53rd annual Rath Yatra in Toronto, celebrated on July 11 from 11 am to 1 pm. According to Iskcon, the Rath Yatra is a public and vibrant celebration where devotees bring the deities, Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra Devi, out onto the streets, accompanied by loud kirtans and devotional singing. Such despicable acts are regrettable and are against the spirit of the festival, which seeks to promote unity, inclusivity, and social harmony." "We have strongly taken up the matter with Canadian authorities to hold the perpetrators of the act accountable. We hope the Canadian Government will take necessary action to protect the religious rights of people,' he added. Former Odisha chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik expressed deep concern over the incident. "Deeply disturbed to know about the reports of eggs being hurled at devotees during #RathaJatra celebrations in Toronto, Canada. Such incidents not only grievously hurt the sentiments of Lord Jagannatha's devotees worldwide, but also cause deep anguish to the people of #Odisha," he wrote in a post on X sharing images of the procession. Patnaik urged the ministry of external affairs to lodge a strong protest and called on both the Centre and the Odisha state government to take the matter seriously. The video drew mixed reactions online. While many condemned the act, calling it 'deeply disrespectful,' others offered a more critical take on public religious events. One user wrote, 'Throwing eggs at the Jagannath Ratha Yatra in Canada is a deeply disrespectful act and must be condemned in the strongest terms.' Another commented, 'If you bring religion to the streets, you need to factor in all this as well—goes for any religion, for that matter. '
