New UVF chiefs stamp authority by setting fire to Catholic man's property

'This attack is the UVF's new leaders telling the community that things aren't going to change'
Larne UVF flexed their muscles this week after their leader Robin Workman was jailed by torching the car of a Catholic man.
The paramilitary gang set fire to a car belonging to a man who had a run-in with Workman over an unpaid debt before the 54-year-old was jailed for five years last week for having a bag of guns and ammunition which he gave to leading loyalist Winkie Irvine.

Four-year-old boy dies after in cemetery after gravestone falls on top of him

The tragedy unfolded in Lancashire this afternoon. A four-year-old boy has tragically died in a cemetery after a gravestone fell onto him. Emergency crews rushed to Rawtenstall Cemetery, in Lancashire, at around 1pm today. Sadly, despite medics best efforts the youngster was pronounced dead at the scene. ‌ As the Mirror reports, police have said the boy's death is not being treated as suspicious. They are set to pass a file to the HM Coroner "in due course". ‌ A Lancashire Police spokesperson told the Lancashire Telegraph:"We were called to Rawtenstall Cemetery at 1pm today [July 5] following reports a gravestone had fallen onto a child. "Tragically, and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the boy sadly died. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course." Rawtenstall Cemetery currently holds 21,000 burials across 17 acres, according to the local government website. The cemetery has a chapel which can seat around 40 people. The burial grounds cater for Catholic, Church of England, non-Conformist and Muslim funerals. The shocking news comes after two teenage boys were found dead on railway tracks with Joshua Myres named and pictured as the first teen in the double tragedy. The teens, both 16, were discovered near Poynton Station, close to Stockport, Greater Manchester. ‌ In May, Cheshire Police had issued an appeal to help trace Joshua, from Handforth, after he vanished and was believed to have made his way to Devon and Cornwall 200 miles away. The teen was found but went missing again for a day in June. Then on Thursday, Joshua and another teen were found dead near the station shortly before 10.30pm. The British Transport Police, who are leading the investigation, said their deaths are not being treated as suspicious. ‌ Railway lines were shutdown so medics could reach the teenagers, but sadly both boys were pronounced dead at the scene. Several services were affected by the closure including Avanti West Coast, Cross Country and Northern services - and trains didn't resume until around 6am on Friday. A passenger who got off a train at the station in Poyton on Friday told Manchester Evening News the double tragedy was "devastating", saying: "It's just devastating. I have teenage children myself, including a 16-year-old boy. It brings it so close to home." No further details surrounding the circumstances of what police suspect happened have been revealed. A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called at around 10.10pm (on July 3rd) to reports of a casualty on the tracks near Poynton railway station. "Officers attended with paramedics. Very sadly and despite the best efforts of paramedics two 16-year-old boys were both pronounced dead at the scene."

The siblings were laid to rest at a church in Gondomar, close to Porto, Portugal, after their fatal car accident in the early hours of Thursday morning. A host of famous faces from the football world attended the poignant ceremony at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar Catholic church. Among those present were Jota's Liverpool team-mates, such as Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson, as well as numerous Portuguese international players. ‌ The burial came after a private wake on Friday, which Jota's wife Rute Cardoso, whom he wed last month, attended alongside the rest of his family. Despite the deeply emotional funeral, it was conducted with respect, until issues emerged later on. ‌ Following the burial for Jota and his brother Andre, the cemetery was initially reopened to the public. However, it had to be closed again shortly after due to "disrespectful" individuals who started taking selfies with the graves. Scores of football supporters lined the streets of Gondomar to observe the funeral from a distance. While most behaved respectfully, the reopening of the graveyard led to disturbances that required police intervention, reports the Mirror. The funeral, marked by profound sorrow, saw an overwhelming outpouring of grief from the world of football. Jota's Wolves and Portugal team-mate, Ruben Neves, made a heartfelt journey from the United States, where he had been competing in the Club World Cup just hours before, to help carry his close friend's casket. Addressing Jota's three children, who were not present, the Bishop offered a poignant message, where he explained why so many people had attended the hour-long ceremony. ‌ Ruben Neves helps carry the coffin (Image: Getty Images ) Through a trembling voice, he promised to pray "a lot" for them and said to those gathered, including Jota's wife Rute, "If it is difficult to see an adult cry, it is even more difficult to see a child cry". He continued: "The ones who suffer a lot are your mother and your grandparents. Seeing the mortal remains of a child must be a greater torment, but when there are two urns there are no words." Article continues below Manchester City's Bernardo Silva was among those attending the service and said: "I can't even imagine the pain felt by the family, by Rute, by the children, by the parents. For André and Jota. I must say a little about Jota, who was a great friend to all of us. "His career, although not the most important, speaks for itself. He didn't train at any of the big clubs and took the most difficult paths. His passion, will and determination allowed him to succeed in life and have a brilliant career. "More important than that, as a person... the memories that remain... Jota will always be in our hearts. He will always be present at every breakfast, lunch, dinner, national team gathering, PlayStation or card game."
