Meghan Markle accused of 'hypocrisy' after surprise Archie and Lilibet decision

Daily Mirror17-06-2025
Meghan Markle has come under fire for posting personal photos of husband Prince Harry with their children Archie and Lilibet to mark Father's Day on Sunday as fans are left confused
Meghan Markle has been accused of "blatant hypocrisy" after sharing a sweet Father's Day video featuring Prince Harry and their children, despite previously vowing to keep them out of the spotlight.
The clip, which appeared on Meghan's newly launched Instagram account, was intended as a heartwarming tribute to Harry on Father's Day, showing unseen moments between the Duke of Sussex and their young children Archie, six and Lilibet, four.

While many fans have labelled the footage charming, royal insiders are questioning the couple's motives. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward, Editor-in-Chief of Majesty magazine, blasted the Duchess of Sussex, 43, in a YouTube interview, accusing her of sending mixed messages about family privacy.

"They begged for privacy and now suddenly Meghan is flooding the marketplace with photographs of their children," Ingrid said.
She then went further, claiming the couple's online activity is motivated less by connecting with fans and more by profit. "Everything they do online is aimed at them being able to make more money - otherwise why on earth would they do it?" she added.
Since stepping back from their senior royal roles in 2020, Harry and Meghan have fiercely protected their children's privacy. They have also championed the importance of online safety through their charity foundation Archwell. Only now are they sharing photos of Archie and Lilibet's faces with the world on Meghan's new Instagram page.
And Ingrid suggests that the new Father's Day footage signals a sharp U-turn - one that Prince Harry may not be fully comfortable with.
The Instagram clip is part of a new digital rollout under Meghan's lifestyle brand, which has seen her launch a range of products and star in a new Netflix show.

Critics argue the couple are increasingly leaning into celebrity culture, despite having once seemingly tried to escape it.
While supporters say the video shows a softer, more relatable side to Harry and Meghan, others - like Ingrid- believe it risks undermining their past pleas for privacy.

Ingrid adds: "Remember, they have spoken about the media and how damaging it can be for young kids, and the next thing you know, Meghan is posting quite personal and charming photos of her husband everywhere. It just doesn't make sense."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have yet to respond publicly to the criticism. But with Meghan returning to social media and building a fresh brand presence, royal watchers believe this could be the start of a new - and very public - chapter for the couple.
It comes as Meghan spoke out about the 'public narrative' around her marriage in a new interview. The Duchess of Sussex was quizzed on her public image in an appearance on the Aspire by Emma Grede podcast, where she also discussed setting up her own As Ever lifestyle brand, as well as what drives her career goals.

On the episode, Emma tells the Duchess: "I wanted to ask you a little bit about the public narrative, because when you sign up to be an actress, you know that people are going to start recognising you, they're going to start speaking to you on the street. But that's very different from what you have now."
And Meghan replies: "It is, Emma! It's very different" before laughing. Emma follows up with: "If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything that you would do differently?"
To which Meghan says: "Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth." The duchess gave no specifics about to whom who she was referring, but later refers to a 'lie' told eight years ago.

ITV 's Inspector Morse has been slapped with a 'trigger warning' in a move that has been branded ' woke '. The popular series now features a pre-warning for crime scenes throughout the show, which seems to have caused a stir with people online. The streaming giant also advises there are 'satanic images' in one episode of the drama. It then has a parental lock on the episode, titled Day of the Devil. Inspector Morse first aired from 1987 to 2000, with a total of eight series. Other episodes also feature a warning over crime and violence. The popular series now features a pre-warning for crime scenes throughout the show, which seems to have caused a stir with people online Speaking about the update, Senior MP Sir Alec Shelbrooke slammed: 'This is another example of soft-touch Britain seeping into everything. 'We're just going to be laughed at as a country if things like this continue, because nobody's prepared for the real world where there are no.' Daily Mail has contacted ITV for comment. In the past, it has said about general alerts: 'Programming that contains politically sensitive or distressing themes, content, or language has carried appropriate warnings since our launch.' Just a few weeks ago, Netflix bosses axed an iconic moment from Pride and Prejudice to avoid 'objectifying men'. The unforgettable scene of Mr Darcy - played by Colin Firth - emerging from a lake was all the rage in 1995. But show bosses have confirmed it will not resurface in the forthcoming version of the rom-com. According to reports, many fans will be disappointed as the famous BBC scene is said to have 'got millions of women hot under the collar'. A source told The Sun: 'It is also credited for sparking subsequent moments of male objectification on screen - likes Aidan Turner's famous topless scything scene in Poldark.' It's claimed that Netflix bosses 'don't want a repeat'. The saucy scene soon became one of the most favourite TV scenes, however it didn't actually feature in Jane Austen's original 1813 story. Alex Jones had ‘no idea' about complaints made against Jermaine Jenas

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was removed from the presenting team at BBC's Match Of The Day and The One Show following alleged issues relating to workplace conduct. Before he was sacked in August, Jenas had been a regular pundit on sports programmes and a presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live. Alex Jones attending the 2025 Bafta Television Awards with P&O Cruises at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall in London (Jordan Pettitt/PA) Jones, 48, who co-presented with Jenas on The One Show, told the Big Issue she did not know about the complaints until he had left. She said: 'I very much take people on face value. But with JJ [Jenas] I didn't know what was going on. 'I had no idea. I thought he was taking extended leave. 'The BBC didn't share with me what was going on until they actually dealt with it. And, you know, they did what they thought was right. 'If that was my daughter and she felt uncomfortable with someone's behaviour, I hope that whatever company she was working for would deal with it swiftly as well.' Jermaine Jenas insists he has taken responsibility for the conduct which led to his dismissal (Nigel French/PA) After being sacked from the BBC, Jenas apologised, saying he had done 'nothing illegal' and that 'inappropriate messages' sent were 'between two consenting adults'. Months later, Jenas' wife, Ellie Penfold, announced the couple had split up after 16 years together. In a statement on her Instagram story, Penfold said: 'I never imagined I would have to share something so personal with the public, but given the situation, I feel it's necessary. 'After 16 years together and 4 wonderful children, Jermaine and I have decided to part ways. 'We will remain friends and continue to co-parent.' Alex Jones and Jason Manford stand outside Western House, London, after appearing on Chris Evans's Radio 2 breakfast show (Fiona Hanson/PA) Jenas returned to broadcasting on TalkSport radio in February after the outlet distanced itself from him in the wake of his departure from the BBC. It is not the first time Jones has had a co-presenter leave The One Show with Jason Manford, who joined the programme at the same time as her in August 2010, resigning only three months into the role for sharing sexual internet messages with female fans. Despite co-presenting on the show for a few months, Jones said she is still 'really good pals' with Manford. – The full interview with Alex Jones can be read in this week's Big Issue, on sale now.
