Diogo Jota death: Lisa Nandy pays tribute to Liverpool forward in House of Commons
The Liverpool FC forward, alongside his 26-year-old brother Andre, died in a car crash in Spain on Thursday (3 July).
Speaking to the commons, the culture secretary said MPs received the 'heartbreaking news' just moments before entering the chamber.
'I think the whole house is heartbroken and I wanted to send our sympathies to his friends and family on behalf of the whole house,' she said.
His devastating death comes just two weeks after the footballer married his long-term girlfriend Rute Cardoso in Porto.

Winger Tanner signs new four-year Cardiff deal
Ollie Tanner has signed a new four-year contract with Cardiff deal will see the 23-year-old winger remain with the Bluebirds until the summer of 2029. "I love being at the club. Dundee sign striker Westley from Burnley
Dundee have signed striker Joe Westley on a three-year deal from Burnley. The 20-year-old joins Steven Pressley's side after spending the second half of last season on loan at Swindon Town where he scored three goals in 17 League Two appearances.
