A tragic incident occurred in Navi Mumbai where 42-year-old traffic constable Ganesh Patil lost his life while managing traffic at Mahape circle. He was struck by a hydra crane, falling under its front wheel.
NAVI MUMBAI: A 42-year-old traffic constable while on duty at Mahape circle was hit a hydra crane and came under the front wheel causing his death. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon.
DCP (traffic) Tirupati Kakade informed that, the deceased traffic constable Ganesh Patil was attached to Mahape traffic unit. He was the younger sibling of journalist Rajendra Patil of a marathi daily newspaper.
On Thursday, Patil along with his colleagues was deployed at Mahape circle to streamline the vehicular traffic movement as there was severe traffic snarl.
It seems like the hydra crane's main hook block in front of the driver's cabin hit Patil, who he fell down and came under the moving crane's front wheel. However, we shall ascertain this by checking the CCTV camera footages."

MUMBAI: A 40-year-old scooterist died after he accidentally crashed his vehicle into a stationary truck on the Airoli Creek bridge on Friday. The police suspect he could not see it due to heavy rain and booked the truck driver for not having its parking indicators on. At around 7.30am on Friday, Patil was travelling towards Mumbai. 'It was raining heavily at the time, so we suspect the low visibility led to Patil ramming into the truck on the bridge,' said a police officer. Passersby called the police control room to report the incident. The police rushed him to Veer Savarkar Hospital in Mulund. He was then shifted to Fortis Hospital, where he died during treatment around 1pm. The truck driver, Ravindra Rajole, was booked for parking his truck on the Airoli Bridge without turning on the parking indicators. Police said the driver was aware that parking a heavy vehicle there was dangerous and could lead to an accident. The Navghar police have registered a case under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding on a public way) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and sections 22 (dealing with stopping and parking of vehicles) of the Motor Vehicles (Driving) Regulations, 2017. Rajole, who hails from Karnataka, was given an appearance notice and allowed to go.

Nashik: The Nashik Rural police have received 40 mopeds for its women's help desk from the National Crime Research Bureau (NCRB) to provide swift relief to women in distress. The mopeds were flagged off by SP Balasaheb Patil on Thursday. The mopeds have been made available under the Nirbhaya Fund. "Centre and state govt are implementing various schemes for the security of women. Under this, women's help desks have been set up at all the police stations to prevent crimes against women, and to investigate and detect them," an officer said. In a bid to give a quick response to women-related complaints, the 40 mopeds were handed over to the women's help desk by SP Patil at a programme held at the Rural police headquarters in Adgaon. Also present at the programme were additional SP Aditya Mirkhelkar, deputy SP Nitin Gokave, and other senior officers. The women's help desk groups have been equipped with necessary machinery like computer sets, cell phones, etc. Adequate force is also being provided to these help desks for the quick redressal of women-related complaints. "The mopeds will be used for patrolling in public places, around schools, colleges, girls' ashramshalas, hostels and offices, among other areas, to prevent crime against women," another officer said.

The remark, made in reference to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray, whose party has been at the centre of the current Marathi controversy, triggered an angry exchange on the messaging group. According to police sources, the student's comment sparked an argument on the WhatsApp group, which kept escalating.
