Patriots Week 7 opponent loses QB for 2025
Quarterback Will Levis is set to undergo season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder—a lingering injury originally sustained in a game against the Miami Dolphins back on October 13 of last year.
Though Levis returned to action less than a month later after missing three games, the injury never fully healed. Now, after further consultation with doctors and his representatives, Levis has opted for surgery, which will take place Tuesday, July 29.
As a result, he won't be present when the Titans report to Saint Thomas Sports Park for the start of training camp.
The Titans confirmed the news in a statement posted to X: 'After consulting with doctors and his representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season. We support his decision to focus on his long-term health. He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery.'
With Levis out, the Titans will turn to rookie Cam Ward, the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward took the majority of first-team reps during the offseason and is expected to be the starter heading into training camp, with veteran Brandon Allen likely backing him up.
Even if Levis had been healthy, Ward may have still earned the job—Levis wasn't a lock to start, and there was a strong possibility Ward could have claimed the role in camp or by the time Tennessee faced New England in Week 7.
Levis, selected by Tennessee in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, appeared in 21 games over his first two seasons. He completed 339 of 556 passes for 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, with a career passer rating of 82.7.
In 2024, he threw for 2,091 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, finishing with a QBR of 27.8 and a 2–10 record as a starter.

American star Katie Ledecky won her seventh world title in the women's 800-meter freestyle on Saturday, fending off the challenges of Canadian sensation Summer McIntosh and Australia's Lani Pallister.
