The Waterfront: Netflix's New Crime Drama Release Date and Plot
Get ready for peak family drama, as Netflix's The Waterfront is washing up on shore this Thursday (June 19). Starring Holt McCallany, Maria Bello, Melissa Benoist, and Jake Weary, the new drama centers around the fictional Buckley family who are trying to maintain control of their North Carolina fishing empire.
Inspired by true events and written and executively produced by Dawson Creek's Kevin Williamson, The Waterfront explores the family dynamics and the lengths people will go to when their legacy is on the line.
"This is about a working man who's trying to make a go of it for his family. They've pulled themselves up from nothing and they've built this mini fishing empire in their small little town," creator Williamson told Tudum. "Now it's being taken away from them bit by bit. They'll do anything to hold onto it, because it represents their family."
While yet to drop on the streaming site, the show has already drawn comparison to some of our fave shows.
"Sounds like Ozark meets Outer Banks definitely keeping an eye on this one," one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"So Bloodline, Ozark, and Yellowstone all in one," another said.

The Waterfront will air on Netflix on Thursday, June 19.
Inspired by true events, The Waterfront focuses on the flawed Buckley family, as they attempt to retain control of their fishing empire, driving them to increasingly dangerous activities to keep their heads above water.
The official synopsis reads: "For decades, the Buckley family has ruled Havenport, North Carolina, dominating everything from the local fishing industry to the town's restaurant scene. But their fishing empire has started to crumble as patriarch Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany) recovers from two heart attacks, and his wife Belle (Maria Bello) and son Cane (Jake Weary) venture into the deep end to keep the family businesses afloat."As their attempts spiral out of control and into treacherous waters, Harlan steps back in to take command. Facing her own demons, Buckley daughter Bree (Melissa Benoist) — an addict in recovery who's lost custody of her son Diller (Brady Hepner) — finds herself entangled in a complicated relationship that could threaten the family's future forever."

Only Aaron Rodgers could complain about attention to get attention
Aaron Rodgers is mad. Not actually mad, of course. But acting superior to other people is just part of his brand. He likes dishing out admonishment. So, on Tuesday, having no appreciation for irony, he went on the Pat McAfee show and complained about being in the public eye and all the unwanted attention he gets. Advertisement Rodgers voluntarily goes on TV to complain that he doesn't like attention? That's a good one. The only reason for him to be doing a stint on a talk show, especially McAfee's show, in June is because he craves attention. His big news this week was that this was probably his last season as a player. For a guy who was mistreated by Brett Favre when they were teammates, Rodgers is utilizing his 'How to Turn Retirement Uncertainty into Extra Attention' playbook to perfection. This is the same guy who wanted to host Jeopardy while still playing football. The same guy who milked the spotlight when Robert F. Kennedy leaked Rodgers as a possible vice presidential candidate. Advertisement And the same guy who gave his blessing to NETFLIX to make 'Enigma' a three-part documentary about his life. The only surprising thing is that the Steelers are putting up with this. Signing Rodgers is about the most uncharacteristic move they've made. This is a franchise that had the forethought to get out of the Antonio Brown business and then watched from a safe distance as he poisoned the Raiders, Patriots and Buccaneers. Rodgers is an aging, polarizing distraction who hasn't been good for a while and doesn't seem that committed to playing football anymore. Pittsburgh might be hoping Rodgers will be good again once he's washed all the Jets stink off himself, but he looked washed up in his last season in Green Bay. Advertisement ESPN's Mike Tannenbaum thinks Rodgers is washed up: 'I think Aaron Rodgers is gonna be irrelevant by Thanksgiving.' But his football struggles haven't moved the cameras away from him because he knows how to court them. If he really wanted less attention, he could stop saying every controversial thought out loud. Aaron Rodgers likes the public eye when it makes him money and gives him an audience for his debunked science. He doesn't like people exposing things that aren't true. Sick of the public eye? Start by getting off McAfee. Committing to the bit Whether it's real or legend, Wade Boggs famously claims to have consumed 73 beers on a cross-country flight between Boston and Los Angeles. But somehow, in over 100 years of existence, the Bruins can't quite get a good Bear logo. Advertisement The difference between the 1980s Bruins jerseys and the new ones is the bear on the shoulder. Instead of Meth Bear, they'll get this one: It's the latest underwhelming ursine to grace and otherwise good jersey. Meth Bear looks deranged. Pooh Bear looks like a Build-a-Bear's dad. On the yellow shoulder patch (below), the bear is trying to be too detailed and the one on the white jersey barely (no pun intended) looks like a bear. As the old saying goes, bear problems lead to font problems with the new bear. With the off-putting letter-sizing used in the word Boston, the current looks like a bear that has just finished its last meal before hibernation. Would it have been worse with Devers? It's been 10 days since Craig Breslow said this quote about the Devers trade that will haunt him the rest of the year. WWE Night Of Champions 2025 Results As Hikuleo Debuts, Solo Sikoa Wins

More McLaughlin/WWE via Getty Images) Solo Sikoa is the new United States Championship after a chaos-filled win over Jacob Fatu at WWE Night of Champions 2025. In a United States Championship match pitting two former members of The Bloodline against one another, it was Fatu who appeared destined to stand tall. Until he didn't. 'The Samoan Werewolf' couldn't overcome a trio of interferences, including the debut of former NJPW star Hikuleo, and lost the United States Championship, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Although WWE Night of Champions had previously been portrayed as a night where all WWE titles were defended, Fatu's US Championship was ironically one of just two championships defended on the show. Perhaps more importantly, however, Fatu vs. Sikoa was the culmination of Fatu's ascension from heel role player to fan favorite megastar. Then, Hikuleo showed up and ruined the party. WWE Night of Champions 2025 Results For Jacob Fatu vs. Solo Sikoa Sikoa's victory over Fatu a at WWE Night of Champions 2025 wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for a pair of shockers. First, Tonga Loa showed up after being out of action for more than half a year. Then, the debuting Hikuleo appeared in Riyadh with a major assist as he became the newest member of Sikoa's version of The Bloodline. At WWE Backlash 2025, Fatu pinned LA Knight in a star-studded Fatal 4-Way match in which the Samoan powerhouse also had to overcome Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre. When combined with his US title victory over Knight at WrestleMania 41 in April, Fatu had racked up an impressive pay-per-view winning streak seemingly set the stage for a lengthy US Championship reign. Instead, Fatu lost to Sikoa in a shocking upset thanks to the numbers game advantage for Sikoa's crew. Among the key highlights of Fatu's successful United States Championship defense were: WWE is clearly strapping the proverbial rocket to Fatu, who has been positioned as arguably SmackDown's fastest-rising stars, especially in the absence of stars like McIntyre and Roman Reigns. With the blue brand boasting a relatively thin midcard, Fatu seemed destined to hold US title for an extended run after his victory at WWE Night of Champions. Fatu's Night of Champions loss, however, was instead a way to keep him looking strong while also ensuring that Sikoa can regain his momentum as a midcard heel. WWE Night of Champions 2025 Results And Reaction To Solo Sikoa Victory Fatu's unsuccessful night at WWE Night of Champions isn't as bad it sounds. Why? Well, a lengthy United States Championship reign may have actually held him back. As noted, SmackDown is currently without Reigns and McIntyre, meaning that the blue brand is sorely lacking in the main event scene. Sikoa's version of The Bloodline is clearly a midcard faction, but the fact that it took four superstars to defeat Fatu shows just how much WWE wants to protect Fatu with its booking. Had Fatu lost cleanly, WWE fans would have a reason to be concerned about his push. Yet, that didn't happen, of course. Hikuleo's debut, Loa's return and Mateo's interference were all necessary for Fatu to lost his WWE United States Championship after just two months. That, however, may be a blessing in disguise that allows Fatu to rise up the ranks on SmackDown even quicker than expected. Fatu's feud with Sikoa is far from over after his loss at WWE Night of Champions 2025, but once he puts The Bloodline in his rearview mirror within a few months, expect him to compete for world titles instead of midcard ones.
