Volkswagen's iconic cute van drives itself with 360-degree vision

You gotta give it to VW for nailing it with their adorable design that modernizes an icon. I'm still wondering about taking a ride without any driver behind the wheel of its latest innovation.
The ID. Buzz autonomous van is Volkswagen's latest step toward making driverless transportation a real option for cities and companies. Instead of modifying existing cars, Volkswagen's mobility brand, MOIA, designed this van from scratch for fleet operations.
As a result, public transit agencies and corporate mobility providers now have access to a clean, connected and scalable solution for autonomous travel.

To begin with, the ID. Buzz autonomous van features SAE Level 4 autonomy, which means it can manage all driving tasks without human input in certain scenarios. This is possible because of 27 advanced sensors, including 13 cameras, nine LiDAR units and five radars. Together, these provide a 360-degree view of the surroundings, enabling safe and accurate navigation.
In addition, Volkswagen partnered with Mobileye to integrate trusted self-driving technology. MOIA's Autonomous Driving Mobility-as-a-Service (AD MaaS) platform supports the van by managing operations, passenger support and real-time logistics.
Inside, riders will notice thoughtful features like a spacious cabin with four seats, a raised roof and luggage space where the front passenger seat usually goes. Passengers can also unlock the vehicle using smartphones and dedicated buttons for support and emergencies enhance convenience and safety.
Unlike Tesla's Robotaxi, which focuses on individual ride-hailing, the ID. Buzz targets companies and public transit agencies. Therefore, you're more likely to see these vans used in fleets than in private ownership.
This vehicle is part of a complete, turnkey solution that includes not just the van but also training, fleet management tools and real-time monitoring software. Because of this, cities and companies can launch autonomous mobility services quickly and confidently.
MOIA is partnering with Hamburg as its first municipal client, and a deal with Uber will bring the ID. Buzz to Los Angeles in 2026. Pending regulatory approval, a broader rollout is expected across Europe and the U.S. that same year.
Autonomous vehicles like the ID. Buzz can help solve major transit challenges. For example, they could address growing driver shortages and improve service in rural areas. With a flexible and scalable approach, Volkswagen is positioning itself as a key player in the autonomous mobility race. Ultimately, the goal is to bring safe, sustainable and accessible driverless travel to more people, whether in dense cities or underserved communities.
There's a lot to admire in the Volkswagen ID. Buzz autonomous shuttle. Its blend of AI-driven technology, practical design and user-friendly features make it a strong contender for the future of urban mobility. In many ways, it's redefining what we expect from autonomous transportation.

Reply AI Music Contest - Announced the Winner of the First International Competition Connecting AI Technologies With Music and Live Performances

TURIN, Italy--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul 7, 2025-- Reply, an international group specialized in the creation of new business models enabled by Artificial Intelligence, is proud to announce the winner of the first edition of the Reply AI Music Contest —an international competition, organized in collaboration with the Kappa FuturFestival, aimed at creatives from around the world interested in exploring new ways to combine music, visuals, and AI technologies within live performances. This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: The winner is the production ' Sinvocea' by DeLaurentis, a DJ and producer based in Paris, who incorporated AI into her electronic compositions, utilising AI-generated vocals and real-time processing. A pioneer in the use of AI in music since 2018, DeLaurentis incorporated these tools into her creative process: treating technology as an extension of her voice, she has developed a unique approach where real-time vocal improvisation generates visual shapes and colours, creating a dynamic dialogue between human and machine. Her latest work, Sinvocea, is a visual instrument that explores the intersection of sound and image, transforming performances into ephemeral moments of research and expression. By using AI to 'draw' with her voice, she expands the boundaries of live performance and synesthetic creativity. The contest, centred on the theme " Experience of a Beat ", challenged artists to use AI to create immersive performances blending sound, visual art, and audience interaction. The jury — composed of Albertino, Tini Gessler, Nicola Gotti, Fleur Shore, Jacopo Di Cera, DJ Tennis, Damir Ivic, Tessa Nijdam, Heleen Blanken, Ali Demirel, Ale Lippi, Auronda Scalera & Alfredo Cramerotti, Annibale Siconolfi, and Seth Troxler — reviewed over 300 live performance projects from around the world to select five finalists. The finalists were, I AM JAS, from Barcelona, is a DJ whose sets blend Afrobeat, techno, and experimental sound techniques, with an interest in integrating AI into live mixing; Helang, a DJ and producer based in New York, who combines techno and trance influences with a focus on digital identity and technology; Marco Puccini, a visual artist from Milan, who works with digital media and scenography, using AI tools to build responsive visual environments for live settings and the collective MIRROW, based in Turin, with their project that explores the interaction between algorithmic music generation and visual output in a live performance context These finalists showcased their AI-integrated live sets on the LAB stage at Kappa FuturFestival, performing on Friday and Saturday from 14:00 to 15:00, with the winner announced at the close of Saturday's event. ' I am very proud and thankful for the recognition. I used AI to produce music for many years and when the opportunity to use AI in real-time came, I took the chance to interact with the AI live, and it became a conversation between my voice and AI generated visuals, which are based on the pitch, tone, volume, speed and vibrato of the sounds I generate. As the equipment is quite complex and fragile, I tend to perform in studios, so this was the first time I performed Sinvocea on stage, in a DJ booth, and to be able to do it at Kappa FuturFestival was incredible' commented DeLaurentis, the winner of the 2025 AIMC. 'The winner and all the finalists of the Reply AI Music Contest demonstrate how Artificial Intelligence can unlock entirely new dimensions of musical expression—innovative, immersive, and deeply emotional—while preserving the human essence ' said Filippo Rizzante, CTO of Reply. 'Generative algorithms are reshaping the creative landscape, not only in what we produce—images, videos, sound—but in how we create. In music, we see live performances as an area with great potential from which hybrid forms will emerge, combining audio with dynamic visual elements. The Reply AI Music Contest serves as a platform to spotlight this evolution, giving emerging talents the chance to explore frontier technologies and build the skills shaping the future of music and live performance.' At Kappa FuturFestival, we've always embraced innovation and creative experimentation. Partnering with Reply to host the AI Music Contest was a natural extension of our mission to push the boundaries of live performance. This collaboration allowed us to create a unique platform where technology meets artistry, demonstrating how AI can amplify emotional depth and reshape the way audiences experience music.'Gianluca Brignone, Partner and Chief Innovation Officer at Kappa FuturFestival. The AI Music Contest is part of the broader Reply Challenges, a program comprising technological and creative competitions that reflect Reply's commitment to developing innovative educational models that engage with the younger generation. General Atlantic considers Joe & The Juice US IPO in 2026

Private equity firm General Atlantic is considering a US initial public offering (IPO) of Joe & The Juice, potentially as early as 2026, Bloomberg has reported. Joe & The Juice, a juice and coffee chain founded in 2002, operated 363 locations worldwide at the end of 2023. Its offerings include freshly prepared juices, shakes, sandwiches and coffee made with natural and organic ingredients sourced directly from growers. Sources, who requested anonymity as the information is not public, stated that General Atlantic has been in discussions with prospective advisers regarding the listing. A first-time share sale is expected to value Joe & The Juice at €2bn ($2.4bn). The private equity firm may select banks for this offering later in 2025, although deliberations are ongoing and details of the IPO could still change. General Atlantic first invested in Joe & The Juice in 2016 and acquired a majority stake in 2023 from Valedo Partners. In December, the brand strengthened its partnership with Deliveroo by entering an exclusive partnership for the UK market. The collaboration enabled Deliveroo customers to order the full menu for on-demand delivery in Birmingham, Brighton, Greater London, Kent, Liverpool and Oxford. Joe & the Juice and Deliveroo first entered a partnership in 2019, covering only five UK sites. They have since expanded their collaboration to 65 locations. The partnership supports Joe & the Juice's expansion plans, which include hundreds of new sites across the UK regions and London.
