This year's parade follows the theme of 'Plantando Bandera (Planting Roots),' which focuses on recognizing how Puerto Rican communities have established deep roots and positively contributed to their communities.

Event organizers also partnered with New York-native Lin-Manuel Miranda and his company TeeRico, to create merchandise featuring this year's theme. The design combines the Puerto Rican flag with a ceiba tree whose roots stretch around the image a global, symbolizing the deep roots and worldwide influence of Puerto Rican identity. The artwork was created by Puerto Rican artist Jorge Rafael Calderón.
The National Puerto Rican Day Parade is preceded by the 40th-annual 116th Street Festival in East Harlem on Saturday. More than 500,000 people will celebrate Puerto Rican culture, music, food and more during the 20-block festival.

The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. on Sunday and runs along Fifth Avenue from 43rd Street to 79th Street. Celebrations are expected to last through 5 p.m.
Among the honorees in this year's National Puerto Rican Day Parade include six-time Grammy-winner Olga Tañón as the Queen of the celebration, film and television actor Luis Guzmán as the King, Golden Globe Award-winning actress Gina Rodríguez as the Madrina (Godmother), and Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning artist Elvis Crespo as the Padrino (Godfather?).
Merchandise designed by Puerto Rican artist Jorge Rafael Calderón and through collaboration with Lin-Manuel Miranda can be purchased online.
Proceeds from all sales go towards the NPRDP Scholarship Fund to support the next generation of Puerto Rican leaders.
The parade is free for all to attend and can be viewed along the Fifth Avenue parade route between 43rd Street to 79th Street.

Bad Bunny calls out Trump's anti-immigrant policies using faux voice recording
Bad Bunny is celebrating the Puerto Rican diaspora and immigrant community this Fourth of July with a political statement. The Puerto Rican reggaeton star released the music video for "NUEVAYoL" off his latest album "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS" on Friday morning, seemingly taking a stand against Donald Trump's anti-immigrant policies and rhetoric. Towards the end of the video, as people huddle around an old school radio, a voice meant to emulate Trump's very own can be heard saying: "I made a mistake. I want to apologize to the immigrants in America." "I'm in the United States. I know America is the whole continent," the faux Trump continues. "I want to say that this country is nothing without the immigrants. This country is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans …" Recently, due to Trump's ongoing immigration crackdown, Southern California has been the epicenter of dozens of ICE raids since early June. On July 3, Congress passed Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," which will allocate $45 billion for immigration detention centers as well as about $30 billion to hire more ICE personnel, for transportation costs and to maintain ICE facilities, according to NPR. Bad Bunny features Puerto Rico flag across Statue of Liberty in music video It wouldn't be a Bad Bunny music video without giving a nod to his Puerto Rican heritage. In the music video, the 31-year-old also features a powerful image of the Puerto Rican flag against the Statue of Liberty's forehead. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Rumored Leak Could Reveal Major Spoilers
Fans are eager to see how the upcoming fourth MCU Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day , will follow the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming , Spider-Man: Far From Home , and Spider-Man: No Way Home . Obviously there are some massive shoes to fill, especially with No Way Home having several continuities thrown into the mix. Now offering fans some insight, it looks like a rumored leak for Spider-Man: Brand New Day could reveal how the new sequel will up the ante with some potential spoilers. It's already been revealed that not only will Tom Holland return as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man for the new follow-up, but that he'll be joined by none other than Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Bernthal previously played the role in Daredevil , his own Punisher series, and Daredevil: Born Again . Now, according to a surprising rumor, he'll be joined by another major MCU character. Obviously this has yet to be confirmed, but with Jon Bernthal joining a Spider-Man movie, anything is possible. And if this scoop from an insider is accurate, then fans could see the kind of Spider-Man movie they've been hoping to see on the big screen. Especially for fans of the comics that often see the kind of team-ups that Richtman is reporting could happen here. According to DanielRPK, he claims to 'have confirmed [that] at least part of the movie is Spider-Man and Punisher teaming up to fight Savage Hulk.' While this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, it would certainly be a great way to have the two characters team-up. Fans are also eager to see the Hulk returned to his former, angrier self, so this could be a great way to do so. Richtman also claims that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will include elements of a Gang War and that's why Savage Hulk is allegedly unleashed in the first place, in an effort to make things harder for our hero characters. Hopefully more information will be shared soon, but it sounds like Brand New Day could be shaping up to be a great follow-up to the previous trilogy of Marvel Spider-Man films if this leak is accurate.
