Pro Football Network ranked the offensive playcallers in the NFL for 2025. See where Drew Petzing lands.
More rankings? Yes, of course. You know you want them and that you like to read them. These come from Pro Football Network, ranking all 32 teams' primary offensive playcaller.
The Arizona Cardinals' playcaller is offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.
Where does he rank? Right in the middle.
NFL offensive playcaller rankings: Arizona Cardinals OC Drew Petzing
Petzing just makes the top half of the league, coming in at No. 15 overall. He is right behind new New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore and just ahead of Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Drew Petzing is one of the more intriguing offensive play-callers in the league today. Under him, the Arizona Cardinals were a top-five offense in Offense+, finishing with 5.9 yards per play and 2.31 points per drive. Arizona had a propensity to start off hot in games, which is a testament to Petzing's preparation and scripted sequences.
While the starts were strong, the Cardinals had their fair share of in-game ups and downs. The chemistry between Kyler Murray and rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. never fully clicked, which limited the offense's ceiling. Still, Petzing has flashed enough structure and creativity to suggest the best is yet to come for Arizona.
Petzing has led an efficient offense. They were 12th in points last year and 11th in yards. After Kyler Murray's return in 2023, they were a top-10 unit in offensive efficiency.
The run game is great. His usage of running backs and tight ends is fantastic. However, there are questions as to whether he can have a dynamic passing game with his receivers. Harrison's usage as a rookie showed little creativity. Petzing never designed easy plays to get the ball in his hands.
Was the lack of receiver production the result of his offensive design? Was it Murray? Was it the play of the wideouts?
Entering 2025, we will see what Petzing does with Harrison in his second season. Did he limit things because he was a rookie and didn't want to overwhelm him?
We will see what is coming in 2025 and what looks different.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Bears hold the NFL records for the most Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees and most retired jersey numbers. Chicago is second all-time in overall victories behind their rival, the Green Bay Packers and are one of the oldest franchises in the NFL, dating back to their start in 1920. Chicago won their first and only Super Bowl in 1986 despite having various NFL greats play for their franchise like Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, Mike Ditka, and Brian Urlacher. The current quarterback of the Bears is Heisman Trophy winner and 2024 first overall pick, Caleb Williams.

DeAndre Hopkins thinks there was "a piece that's been missing" before he joined the Ravens

Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had played 12 NFL seasons for four different teams before joining the Ravens this offseason, and from the outside looking in, Hopkins saw something missing. According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN, Hopkins told others in the Ravens facility that he might — or might not — be that missing piece. 'It seems like there's been a piece that's been missing,' Hopkins said. 'I could be that addition. I could not be that addition.' Whether Hopkins proves to be that missing piece will be determined largely by whether he can build a rapport with quarterback Lamar Jackson. He says he doesn't know how long that will take. 'I don't think it's a [set] time frame,' Hopkins said. 'A guy like Lamar, who's a veteran quarterback, he's played a lot of football. Myself, I play a lot of football. We see things differently, but I've had rookie quarterbacks that have taken longer. So, it differs.' At 33 years old, Hopkins is on the down side of his career, but he might just be the missing piece for Jackson and the Ravens to get to the Super Bowl.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Vikings have the most conference championship appearances of non-winning Super Bowl teams. Minnesota is one of four teams to appear in a conference championship every decade since the 1970s. Multiple Pro Football Hall of Famers have played quarterback for Minnesota like Warren Moon, Brett Favre, and Fran Tarkenton. Former Vikings running back, Adrian Peterson, won MVP in 2012 while rushing for 2,097 yards, the second most rushing yards in a season in NFL history. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson, 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, stars on the Vikings offense.
