36 foreigners linked to ‘radical militant movement' nabbed
Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the arrests were made during three operations in Selangor and Johor.
PETALING JAYA : Police have detained 36 foreigners for their involvement in a radical militant movement, home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said today.
Saifuddin said the arrests were made during three operations in Selangor and Johor starting April 24.
He said five of the individuals were involved in terrorism and had been charged in the sessions courts in Shah Alam, Selangor, and Johor.
'Another 15 individuals have been issued deportation orders, while 16 others are still under investigation for their suspected involvement in the militant movement,' he said in a statement.
Saifuddin said the group was found to be promoting extremist ideology linked to the Islamic State.
'They even established cells within their community with the aim of spreading radical ideology, raising funds for terrorist activities, and overthrowing the government in their home country,' he added.
He said Malaysia would not house foreign extremist movements, or be a medium for their subversive actions, and that threats to national security would not be taken lightly.
'Any attempt to turn Malaysia into a militant operations base or a transit hub for extremist movements will be met with firm, swift, and effective action,' Saifuddin said.

Body of man believed to be victim of crocodile attack in Matang found
KUCHING, June 28 — The body believed to be that of Jacob Tuan, the victim of a recent crocodile attack, has been found by the search and rescue party this afternoon. Padawan District Police Chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the remains were located around 12.30pm following a search operation that began earlier in the day. 'We began the search at 8am, and by 12.30pm, we had located the body through the joint efforts of the various search team,' he said when met by reporters. The remains have been transported to the Sarawak General Hospital for identification and a post-mortem examination. The case has been classified as sudden death. 'The victim was found about 300 metres from the location of the attack. KL cop killed while tailing street racer during Ops Samseng Jalanan along Jalan Kuching
KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 — A traffic police officer was killed in an accident while on duty during an anti-street racing operation in Kuala Lumpur early this morning. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said Lance Corporal Muhammad Amirul Aiman Muhammad Othman, 24, died in the incident at about 4.40am. 'He was involved in an accident while carrying out Phase Two of Ops Samseng Jalanan, which started at midnight,' he told Utusan Malaysia. 'At the time, he and another officer were following a motorcyclist who had been performing illegal stunts. They were tailing the rider, not in pursuit. 'As they approached the slip road from Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Kuching, the officer lost control — likely due to the wet road conditions — and crashed.' Zamzuri said the officer fell to the left side of the road, and the second officer, who was about 10 seconds behind, also lost control and fell. Amirul was believed to have died at the scene, while the other officer sustained minor injuries. He had served with JSPT Kuala Lumpur since completing his training about four years ago and had been assigned to the Intelligence and Operations Division for the past year. He is survived by his wife and three children, and will be laid to rest in his hometown in Terengganu today.
