The NBA Finals are ongoing and we are four games out. With a 2-2 record so far, it's anyone's game, and either the Oklahoma City Thunders or the Indiana Pacers could end up taking the championship this season.
But before that can be decided, the OKC Thunders have a new record set in the NBA, that was until now held by the Golden State Warriors. But this current Thunders team came and left no crumbs, as they now have the highest scoring record by a team in a single season.
Oklahoma City Thunders now have the highest scoring record in NBA
Until the last game between the Oklahoma City Thunders and the Indiana Pacers, the Golden State Warriors held the record for the highest score by a team in a single season with 12,161 points, which they scored during the 2018-19 season.
Going into Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the Thunders were 68 points shy of breaking that record, and they managed to make it during the third quarter of the game.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a three throw in the third quarter to break the previous record by GSW, and by the end of the game, the OKC Thunders had their new record in the books and a new record to keep the Indiana Pacers from feeling too comfortable. Right now, the two teams have a 2-2 record in the finals with three more games to go. Talking about the team's success this season and the amount of new records they have set so far, coach Mark Daigneault said:
'I think there's just a lot of integrity to the team.
I think that starts with the makeup that these guys have... Great psychological makeup, competitive makeup, personal makeup. Then over time we've had to really kind of forge into this version of ourselves, in visible spaces.'
The Thunders have 82 wins this season, including the 68 regular season wins. And if they do end up winning this season, they will become the fourth team in league history to have at least 84 wins in a full season. This has been an extraordinary season for the OKC Thunders, and whether they win or lose the championship, they will have a season to remember.

NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Urged to Acquire $48 Million Boston Celtics Star to Bolster Frontcourt Depth; Maxi Kleber Key Trade Asset?

Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers (Image via Getty) The Los Angeles Lakers are actively reshaping their roster around stars Luka Doncic and LeBron James , and with free agency well underway, their recent moves suggest a clear push toward defense, depth, and chemistry. However, one NBA analyst believes there's still one more move the Lakers should make - part ways with Maxi Kleber and bring in Marcus Smart's former Boston Celtics teammate, Robert Williams III. Marcus Smart Joins Los Angeles Lakers - Thanks in Part to Luka Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Lakers made headlines by signing defensive specialist Marcus Smart. The deal gives Los Angeles a major upgrade in perimeter defense. According to The Athletic's Dan Woike, Luka Doncic reportedly played a role in facilitating Smart's addition to the team, showing his growing influence within the franchise's front office decisions. Smart, known for his gritty play and leadership, immediately becomes a vocal anchor in the Lakers' backcourt. But for some, the story shouldn't end there. Robert Williams III: The Ideal Reunion Target Analyst Caleb Hightower suggests that the Los Angeles Lakers should look to reunite Smart with Robert Williams III, his former teammate in Boston. 'Before the offseason ends, though, the Lakers should cut ties with a 6-foot-10 forward and reunite Smart with his 27-year-old former Boston Celtics teammate,' writes Hightower. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Struggling With Belly Fat? Why the Los Angeles Lakers Should Consider Trading Maxi Kleber Maxi Kleber, while a solid rotational big man, has struggled with consistency and health in recent seasons. By moving Kleber, along with guard Gabe Vincent and a future second-round pick, the Los Angeles Lakers could potentially land Williams and enhance their interior presence behind Deandre Ayton. Proposed Trade Package To Portland To Los Angeles Maxi Kleber Robert Williams III Gabe Vincent Future 2nd-round pick This move would free up cap flexibility and bring in a center who already shares chemistry with Smart. Moreover, Williams' relentless motor and defensive instincts make him an ideal fit alongside elite playmakers like Doncic and James. Concerns Around Williams' Injury History Despite his potential, Robert Williams comes with notable injury concerns. Since leaving Boston after the 2022–23 season, the 27-year-old has only managed to appear in 26 regular-season games across two years in Portland. His health has become a recurring issue, raising valid questions about his long-term durability. Still, for a team seeking championship contention, calculated risks are often part of the process. Robert Williams: Risk vs. Reward Pros • Elite rim protector • Strong chemistry with Marcus Smart • High field goal percentage and energy • Proven playoff experience Cons • History of injuries • Limited availability • Could require load management Reuniting Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III could give the Los Angeles Lakers a defensive identity that hasn't been seen in years. While Williams isn't a guaranteed game-changer due to his health, his upside and history with Smart make him a compelling target. The Lakers have already started - adding Williams might be the next smart step in completing the puzzle. NBA Trade Rumors: Golden State Warriors Predicted to Target $2,800,834 Miami Heat Center As Logical Backup Plan if Horford Deal Falls Through

Big Three of The Golden State Warriors (Image via Youtube: Chaz NBA) As NBA free agency thins out, the Golden State Warriors find themselves navigating a quiet market with only a few names still worth pursuing. According to Jeremy Kruger of The Sporting News, the Warriors are expected to land veterans Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton. However, neither deal is finalized, leaving the team to evaluate alternatives in case plans change — particularly at the center position. Thomas Bryant : A Practical Option for the Golden State Warriors If Horford Slips Away With Al Horford still unsigned, the Golden State Warriors are considering contingency plans to address their frontcourt needs. One potential target is 6-foot-10 center Thomas Bryant, who just played legitimate minutes in the 2024 NBA Finals with the Indiana Pacers. Bryant's 2023–24 Season Stats with Indiana Pacers: Category Stat Games Played 56 Points Per Game 6.9 Rebounds Per Game 3.9 Field Goal Percentage 51.5% Three-Point Percentage Nearly 35% While Bryant isn't a marquee signing, he presents a solid backup option. His efficient scoring, ability to stretch the floor, and decent rebounding could make him a reliable fit in Steve Kerr's system if Horford doesn't sign. Youth vs. Experience: Bryant Compared to Horford Thomas Bryant (Image via Getty) Al Horford remains the Golden State Warriors' preferred target, largely due to his intangibles. The 40-year-old brings extensive playoff experience, elite defensive IQ, and leadership that's hard to quantify. Thomas Bryant, though 13 years younger, lacks that level of battle-tested reliability and doesn't match Horford's playmaking or passing acumen. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pirates Climb Aboard Cargo Ship - Watch What The Captain Did Next Tips and Tricks Undo Horford vs. Bryant: Key Differences Attribute Al Horford Thomas Bryant Age 40 27 NBA Finals Experience Extensive Limited (2024 Finals) Passing/Playmaking High Below Average Three-Point Shooting ~38% ~35% Defensive Leadership Elite Developing Kruger emphasizes this comparison, stating, 'Bryant isn't battle-tested like Horford. Horford will bring a veteran savviness to the Warriors that is hard to measure.' Melton Deal Still in Play, But Questions Remain The Golden State Warriors are also reportedly eyeing De'Anthony Melton, but he is coming off a torn ACL — a factor that tempers expectations. While Melton offers perimeter defense and occasional scoring, there's uncertainty about his health and availability early in the season. Why Bryant Could Fit the Warriors' System If the Warriors lose out on Horford and opt not to take the injury risk with Melton, Bryant becomes a sensible addition. Here's why: - Floor spacing: Bryant's shooting from beyond the arc allows him to operate in a modern offense. - Postseason exposure: Playing in the NBA Finals last season gives him useful high-pressure experience. - Development potential: At 27, he still has room to grow — possibly under the mentorship of Draymond Green and Kevon Looney. Al Horford should remain the Golden State Warriors' top target in free agency due to his leadership and proven value in the postseason. But if that deal falls apart, pivoting to Thomas Bryant is a logical move. He brings serviceable production, Finals experience, and a modern offensive skill set — all while being younger and possibly more durable.
