Here's why Trump's remarks about Epstein upset Virginia Giuffre's family
Speaking to reporters earlier this week, Trump appeared to insinuate that he knew Epstein 'stole' Virginia Giuffre, a high-profile accuser of the dead financier.
Trump told reporters he was upset Epstein was 'taking people who worked for him', adding: 'The women were taken out of the spa, hired by him — in other words, gone.
'I said, listen, we don't want you taking our people,' before saying that Epstein 'stole' Giuffre when asked if she was one of the employees taken by Epstein.
Giuffre had worked at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort when she was a teenager, which is where she met Epstein, before he was banned from the club for being a 'creep'.
In a statement, the family of Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, said: 'It was shocking to hear President Trump invoke our sister and say that he was aware that Virginia had been 'stolen' from Mar-a-Lago. It makes us ask if he was aware of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's criminal actions, especially given his statement two years later that his good friend Jeffrey 'likes women on the younger side.''
They added: 'We and the public are asking for answers; survivors deserve this.'
The latest development comes days after Trump said he 'never had the privilege' of visiting Epstein's infamous island.
Trump said he rejected an invitation to the Caribbean island of Little Saint James, where many of Epstein's alleged sex crimes were committed.
The US president has previously denied ever going to Epstein's 75-acre paradise in the US Virgin Islands.
The disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, assisted by his girlfriend and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, allegedly sex trafficked young women and underage girls on the island.
Trump added that he wouldn't speak to Epstein for years 'because he did something that was inappropriate'.
New photos of paedophile Epstein attending Trump's second wedding ceremony were also found earlier this month.
The pictures from 1993 show Epstein attending Trump's wedding to Marla Maples at the famous Plaza Hotel in New York.
Other footage of Trump and Epstein laughing together at a 1999 Victoria's Secret fashion show was also uncovered by CNN. More Trending
When approached for comment regarding the new footage of him with Epstein, Trump told reporters, 'You're kidding me.'
He later dubbed it 'fake news', despite previous documentation of him rubbing shoulders with Epstein.
In a statement, the White House said: 'These are nothing more than out-of-context frame grabs of innocuous videos and pictures of widely attended events to disgustingly infer something nefarious.
'The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep. This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media.'

Another retired lieutenant general called it 'meaningless blather'. And a Russian security expert told one paper: 'I'm sure Trump didn't really give any orders'. Trump had said he was ordering submarines to 'appropriate regions' after ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said they still had Soviet-era nuke capabilities. He said: 'Words are very important and can often lead to unintended consequences.' Trump has said that the US is "totally prepared" for a nuclear war following a slew of threats against America from a Kremlin comrade. He said: "If some words of the former Russian president [Medvedev] cause such a nervous reaction in the entire, formidable US president, then Russia is right in everything and will continue to go its own way. "Let him remember his favorite films about the "walking dead", as well as how dangerous a "dead hand" that does not exist in nature can be." Medvedev may have been referring to Moscow's "Dead Hand" nuclear weapons system, which is designed to launch a doomsday retaliation attack with full nuclear force - even if the Kremlin leadership is wiped out. He also warned that Russia "isn't Israel or even Iran." "Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences. I hope this will not be one of those instances. Probe launched into Trump prosecutor Jack Smith for ‘illegal political activity' after Don charged 41 times
Trump was slapped with a federal indictment in 2023 over allegations he tried to overturn the 2020 election ALL DON THE LINE Probe launched into Trump prosecutor Jack Smith for 'illegal political activity' after Don charged 41 times Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FEDERAL officials have opened an investigation into Jack Smith, the former special counsel who investigated then-candidate Donald Trump before his reelection to a second term. It was one of four indictments leveled against the president-elect after he left office in 2021. Trump was charged with conspiracy to defraud the US, obstruction and conspiracy to obstruct, and conspiracy against rights. The case never made it to trial before the presidential election and was subsequently dropped following Trump's victory. However, Smith's findings were published just one week before Trump's inauguration, when he will be sworn in as the 47th president. Smith's report claimed Trump tried to retain power after losing to Biden by "using fraud and deceit." He also claimed Trump pressured election officials at the state level in a desperate bid to try and change the results. Trump was also said to have pressured then vice-president Mike Pence, who was President of the Senate, to change the election result, according to the report. Smith revealed that his team had "admissible evidence," which he believes would've helped them get a conviction against Trump - had he not won the 2024 election. "The department's view that the Constitution prohibits the continued indictment and prosecution of a president is categorical and does not turn on the gravity of the crimes charged, the strength of the government's proof, or the merits of the prosecution, which the office stands fully behind," the report said. Trump vehemently denied any allegations of election interference following his indictment. More to follow... Trump orders nuclear subs to be repositioned ‘closer to Russia'
President Trump has ordered two nuclear submarines to move closer towards Russia. He said he had to act after a former Russian President made 'highly provocative' statements on social media. Dmitry Medvedev had warned the US President that his ultimatum over Ukraine was a 'step towards war' reminding him about Russia's nuclear capabilities. It comes as senior Republicans condemn President Trump over his decision to sack the head of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics after disappointing employment figures.
