The author of the hit novel turned Oscar-nominated picture Conclave said the King revealed to him that he has watched the film.
Robert Harris, 68, was formally made a CBE by Charles for services to literature in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

Harris said it was "eerie" and "like an out of body experience" to see his 2016 book turned into a film, and then to see the papal selection process which he had researched in so much detail play out in May after the death of Pope Francis.

"(It was) very odd, I suppose because I researched it very thoroughly, and really it's the sort of thing that can practically only be done in fiction because you have to have a lot of conjecture," Harris told the PA news agency.
"And so it acted as a kind of primer for journalists and for people, so that was very strange.
"And then, of course, the extraordinary fact that the new pope watched it on the eve of the conclave."

Pope Leo's brother John Prevost told NBC News his younger sibling had watched the film before the secret vote.
Harris said the King also asked about his new book.
"We talked a bit about Conclave, which he has seen," Harris said.

"He's been reading my books for years, so it was nice to see him again."
The journalist-turned-novelist also joked about how seeing the inside of Buckingham Palace could provide him inspiration for his future books.
"There'd have to be some mystery in the throne room, yes, murder in the throne room! It's got possibilities."

Harris said it was a "very generous gesture" to receive the honour and he had "never thought about it" before being asked.
Author Dame Jacqueline Wilson was made a Dame Grand Cross for her services to the same industry at the ceremony.
The 79-year-old former children's laureate is widely known as the creator of Tracy Beaker and has written more than 100 novels.

"It feels like a dream," Dame Jacqueline said on receiving the honour. "I'm so pleased, so proud.
"I was just totally taken by surprise. To be utterly truthful, I didn't even know this particular honour existed. I'm so proud and so overwhelmed.
"If little girl Jacqueline could be told that I'd be standing outside Buckingham Palace with medals and a sash, she would have been astonished."

Dame Jacqueline said the King was "jovial" and they laughed about getting her sash on over her "silly hat".
"And I did thank him, and particularly also thanked Her Majesty the Queen, because she takes such an interest in children's literature, and that makes all of us writers feel very pleased," she said.
Last year, Dame Jacqueline released her first adult novel since the 1970s as she returned to her beloved Girls series.

The novel, Think Again, was nominated at this year's British Book Awards.

Gary Busey pleads guilty to sexual misconduct charges: 'It was not accidental'

Actor Gary Busey has pleaded guilty to criminal sexual misconduct. Busey, 81, has admitted that he purposely touched a woman inappropriately at a horror film convention in New Jersey in 2022, charges he previously denied. The Point Break actor told the judge, 'It was not an accidental touching,' according to The Guardian. Prosecutors have now agreed to dismiss three other counts of criminal sexual contact as well as one count of attempted criminal sexual contact, in exchange for Busey's guilty plea. The charges relate to incidents at the Monster-Mania convention, held from August 12 to 14, 2022, at a DoubleTree Hilton hotel in Cherry Hill, a suburb of Philadelphia. Five women accused Busey of inappropriate touching during photo opportunities at the event. According to authorities, Busey allegedly grabbed the buttocks of two women and attempted to unhook a third woman's bra while putting his face near her breasts, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The case garnered renewed attention this week after Busey's attorney, Blair Zwillman, attempted to have the indictment dismissed. Zwillman argued that law enforcement had conducted a 'faulty' investigation and failed to interview potentially relevant witnesses. However, Camden County prosecutor Keith Carmy countered that extensive witness testimony had already been presented to the grand jury and that there was no evidence to suggest exculpatory material had been withheld. Judge Gwendolyn Blue ultimately denied the motion to dismiss. Following Busey's guilty plea, she tentatively scheduled a virtual sentencing hearing for September 18. Busey reportedly had difficulty hearing during the court proceedings despite wearing a hearing aid. He now faces a sentence that may include one to five years of probation, financial penalties, and the mandatory submission of a DNA sample. The actor initially denied any wrongdoing. 'None of that happened,' he told TMZ. 'It was a partner, a camera lady and me, and two girls … it took less than 10 seconds, and they left. Then they made up a story that I assaulted them sexually and I did not. Nothing happened, it's all false.' While Busey is often remembered for his Oscar-nominated portrayal of rock-and-roll pioneer Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story (1978), his later career has been overshadowed by troubling legal and personal issues. More Trending He has amassed over 100 credits in film and television, frequently appearing in offbeat or villainous roles in films such as Lethal Weapon, Point Break, and Under Siege. This is not Busey's first run-in with the law. In 1995, he was hospitalized following a near-fatal cocaine overdose and was subsequently charged with drug offenses. He has also faced previous allegations of spousal abuse, and during the 2011 season of Celebrity Apprentice, a female employee accused him of sexual assault. The actor has not made a public statement since entering his plea. Got a story? Sir Anthony Hopkins mocks Kim Kardashian's face wrap

The Welsh actor who was born in Bridgend, went to Monmouth Boys' school in Pontypool and has links to Newport, rebirthed his Hannibal Lecter character to mock Kardashian's SKIMS face wrap. Fans were left howling when Kardashian launched her new 'Ultimate Face' product from her shapewear line, comparing the garment to the Silence of the Lambs' villain Lecter's bite restraint mask worn by Hopkins in the 1991 film. Hopkins was awarded an Oscar for his on-screen role as the cannibal and wore a nude post-surgical mask in a social media post saying: 'Hello Kim, I'm already feeling 10 years younger. Goodbye.' This was before he recreated the legendary 'fava beans and Chianti' scene and captioned the clip: 'Thank you, Kim. Don't be afraid to come over for dinner.' Fans responded with hilarity online, expressing their shock at Hopkins being the one they expected to roast Kim about her new product.

Lindsay Lohan's Press Tour Is A Love Letter To Her Early Roles

If your early 2000s DVD collection included The Devil Wears Prada , Bend It Like Beckham and My Best Friend's Wedding , you'll be pleased to know they're all in various stages of reboot. Now, the long awaited Freaky Friday sequel ( Freakier Friday ) is officially joining the lineup - and Lindsay Lohan is already bringing the throwbacks. ©Lindsay Lohan Freaky Friday UK Premiere, Getty Images While doing UK press for the film on July 31, Lohan hit the red carpet in a custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown that instantly caught the eye of loyal fans. The dress - a sheer lavender metal mesh design covered in golden Swarovski crystals was a reimagining of the one she wore in Freaky Friday's final wedding scene, originally designed by Mandalay. Whilst the riff off was covered in gems, the original featured a delicate lace trimmed camisole top and matching bias-cut skirt. Ludovic de Saint Sernin took to Instagram to say, 'I can't believe I'm actually writing this caption right now. I've been dreaming and manifesting this moment for nearly 20 years. And the best part of it all is that I got to see it with my own eyes! What an incredible privilege to be a creative and to have the opportunity to make your teenage dreams come true. I feel overwhelmed with joy and love right now. It's a full-circle moment for me.' The archival nod didn't stop at the dress. Lohan carried a miniature guitar-shaped bag by Judith Leiber, a playful wink to her character Anna's band girl past. Where the original character wore hers on a strap, Lohan clutched this one like a clutch, turning teenage angst into red carpet moment. She finished the look with simple Manolo Blahnik heels which gave the look a more grown up feel. The Mean Girls star has been on a full nostalgia streak lately. Earlier this week, she paid tribute to another one of her iconic roles - this time from her film debut, The Parent Trap . Appearing on Good Morning America on July 28, Lohan wore a butter yellow two piece set from Balmain's pre-spring 2026 collection by Olivier Rousteing. The look featured a cropped tweed jacket in a white and black plaid and a matching mini skirt. It's safe to say Lindsay Lohan's press tour is a love letter to her early roles. Freakier Friday will be out in cinemas on the August 8th. [ Renee Washington ]{href=' } , Grazia's digital fashion and beauty writer, lives online.
