49ers gifted Celtic transfer playbook and instant Rangers manoeuvre shows new rules are in effect
Gordon Strachan reckons that 49ers Enterprises should conduct their transfer deals exactly like Celtic.
And Rangers' new American owners may have already picked up that lesson amid ongoing talks over a sale of Hamza Igamane.
Andrew Cavenagh and the investment wing of the NFL giants took charge of the Scottish Premiership side - with the 49ers doubling up on their ownership of Leeds United.
And former Leeds' player and Celtic boss Strachan has urged chairman Paraag Marathe and the Elland Road decision-makers to follow Celtic's player trading model.
Nicolas Kuhn 's £3million arrival in Glasgow's east end from Austrian side Rapid Vienna after a nomadic career turbo-charged his career before a £17.2million move to Como is the latest example of the player-trading model in motion.
Discussing Leeds' chances in the Premier League after promotion, Strachan told OLBG: 'Ipswich spent a lot last year and went down, with Leeds there's no doubt they got in financial difficulties and they had to do a lot of work last year.
'I don't think Leeds United will put themselves in that position again because if you're the custodian of the club, the owners, you cannot put the club at risk.
"I think the players that they have got to get cannot be on £300,000 a week. I think that there was a bit of that which happened a couple of years ago and there was definitely worries in the Leeds camp that they might have overstretched themselves.
'They will not overstretch themselves again. So that has to go down to player development.
"If you look at Celtic, for instance, over the last four, five, six, seven years, they buy players in low, develop them and sell them for six, seven, eight times they come in. I think that's what's got to happen with Leeds."
And the 49ers are currently trying to maximise the profit on Igamane - who arrived at Ibrox in a £1.7m move from AS FAR last summer.
Rangers are standing firm on their £15million valuation of the striker amid ongoing talks with Lille - with the French side now reportedly "struggling" to get a deal over the line.
Everton are among the suitors now showing interest with the door opening - with Udinese and Feyenoord on alert.
Igamane could jolt the new look player-trading model into life - with Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman understood to be among the contenders to replace the Morocco international.

After missing the cut six years ago when The Open returned to Portrush, McIlroy was determined to make it up to the thousands of fans willing him on this week. But he had too much to do on the last day and a two-under-par 34, including three birdies and a bogey, on the easier front nine, was just not enough. He was still six shots back at the turn but a double-bogey at the 10th, where he mis-hit a chip, represented the end of his challenge despite two more birdies coming home to finish seventh on 10 under, seven behind Scheffler. 'I felt like I did well. Eight, nine and and 10 were the ones that killed me – not that I was ever going to get to 17-under I don't think,' he added. 'I could have maybe finished second, which would have been better than where I did finish, but only making par off those tee shots on eight and nine and then the double off of 10 after the flier did me in. 'Then I just tried to play a good back nine and finish as well as I could.'

Rory McIlroy sends message to Scottie Scheffler after 'incredible' Open triumph
Rory McIlroy admitted he has nothing but admiration for Scottie Scheffler after the World No1 further enhanced his status in the record books with a dominant victory at the Open. Scheffler cruised to a stress-free four-shot victory at Royal Portrush on Sunday to claim his fourth career major and second of the year after his triumph at the US PGA Championship in May. The American has now won three of golf's four majors and is just one short of McIlroy's career tally despite being seven years younger than the Northern Irishman. And McIlroy conceded that Scheffler's victories only serve to reinforce his status as the game's best most prestigous talent. 'None of us could hang with Scottie this week,' McIlroy refelcted after his final-round 69 which saw him finish T7 in front of a frenzied home crowd. 'He's an incredible player. He's been dominant this week. Honestly, he's been dominant for the last couple years. He is the bar that we're all trying to get to. 'In a historical context, you could argue that there's only maybe two or three players in the history of the game that have been on a run, the one that Scottie's been on here for the last 24 to 36 months. Incredibly impressive. 'He's a very worthy winner. Also, he's a great person, and I think he's a wonderful ambassador for our game as well. I'm really happy for him and Meredith and his family.' Asked how it feels to watch Scheffler in his current form, McIlroy added: 'I think all you can do is admire what he does and how he does it. 'I think what he does is one thing, but how he does it is another. He just goes about his business, doesn't do anything overly flamboyant, but he's the best at executing in the game right now. 'He's been absolutely amazing over these past two to three years. As I said, all you can do is tip your cap and watch in admiration.' Scheffler's level of dominance in recent years has rightly evoked comparisons with Tiger Woods, who has 82 PGA Tour victories, 15 of those majors, to his name. However, the current World No1 was quick to reject any comparison between himself and his childhood inspiration. 'I still think they're a bit silly. Tiger won, what, 15 majors? This is my fourth. He was a very, very talented guy, and he was a special person to be able to be as good as he was at the game of golf. 'I don't focus on that kind of stuff. That's not what motivates me. I'm not motivated by winning championships. 'I don't look at the beginning of the year and just say, hey, I want to win X amount of tournaments, I want to win whatever it is. I don't do that. 'I have dreams and aspirations that I think about, but at the end of the day, when I wake up to practise, I feel like what motivates me is just getting out and getting to live out my dream.
