Oxford leisure park science lab plan revised after criticism
Residents will be able to provide feedback and ask questions about the new proposals during a drop-in event at the site on 16 July between 14:00 and 19:00 BST.
Under the updated plans, new "world class facilities" for the life science sector will still be built. The team behind the Ozone Reimagined scheme said the development would create 1,900 new jobs, from entry-level positions to technical and research roles.James Latham, Pioneer Group's director, said: "We've worked hard to shape what we believe is an exciting future for this important site."We've heard from many people about how much the Ozone Leisure Park and the Priory Pub mean to the community."This scheme not only safeguards valued leisure facilities and brings the Priory back into use but also offers an opportunity to reinvigorate the entire site – creating more jobs, green spaces, restaurants and cafes."A spokesperson for Firoka Group added: "We are excited to be progressing these proposals for the Ozone Leisure Park – a site that, in its current form, is no longer sustainable."The site is currently home to a Vue Cinema, Hollywood Bowl, as well as bars and restaurants.

Transfer news live: Rashford nears Barcelona switch, Liverpool's Ekitike offer, Arsenal latest
The summer transfer window rolls on as Premier League clubs and those around Europe look to add to their squads ahead of the 2025/26 season. Arsenal 's negotiations for Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres had stalled due to a difference in valuation and terms, though the Gunners are now in the process of completing a move after a breakthrough in talks. Noni Madueke was unveiled on Friday, whereas Eberechi Eze remains a target, but Arsenal are set to leave on their pre-season tour of Asia without completing the deal for a new striker. Manchester United continue to focus on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo and have now agreed a fee for the Brentford forward with a medical to follow next, while there remains plenty of focus on outgoings as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho near the exit door. Liverpool are in advanced talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Hugo Ekitike. The former Paris Saint-Germain player has a €100m (£86m) release clause and it is expected that Ekitike would want to make the switch to Anfield and that personal terms could be agreed with the 23-year-old.

Oxford fusion pioneer risks running out of cash within months
A British nuclear fusion pioneer has warned it risks running out of cash within six months as it races to raise millions of pounds in funding to secure its future. First Light Fusion, which is based in Oxford, is in talks with investors to raise £20m after burning through tens of millions of pounds to develop its novel fusion technology. The start-up, founded in 2011, had sought to develop what it called 'projectile fusion', developing a giant gas-powered gun that would fire a 5p-sized projectile at extreme speeds into a fuel source, sparking a fusion reaction. However, the company abandoned plans to build a prototype reactor earlier this year as it struggled to raise funds. The business is now seeking financing to supply its inventions to other fusion and technology companies. It has created what it calls an 'amplifier', a fuel capsule that can boost the power of nuclear reactions. First Light had previously raised more than £75m from investors including Tencent and London-listed IP Group. However, in company accounts signed off last month, First Light said it now only had cash reserves to continue to trade 'until mid-January 2026 whereupon additional funding shall be required'. The business said it had secured £10m in March, in the form of a convertible loan, and was in talks for a £20m equity injection in the coming months. However, that funding had yet to be confirmed, casting 'significant doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern'. The accounts for First Light said it had £9.9m in cash at the end of March and had burned through £13.4m in the past year. It said it ultimately planned to raise £60m. In April, The Telegraph reported that one of First Light's biggest investors had cut the value of its stake in the loss-making business by around 60pc. Holy grail of clean power Nuclear fusion aims to harness the kind of reaction that takes place at the heart of the sun, forcing hydrogen atoms together to release enormous amounts of energy. It is seen as the holy grail of renewable power as it has the potential to deliver continuous power, with helium its only by-product. Researchers have pursued fusion power for decades, but significant engineering and scientific challenges remain before a reactor can begin producing energy. The scramble for funding at First Light comes despite Labour promising to invest £2.5bn in fusion research over the next five years with the aim of developing a working reactor by 2040. On Thursday, Ed Miliband, the Energy Secretary, announced measures to ease planning rules for future fusion projects. Several US fusion companies have raised hundreds of millions of dollars to develop the technology. Last month, Google agreed to buy 200 megawatts of power from an as-yet undeveloped fusion plant in Massachusetts. Earlier this month, First Light confirmed its founder, Nicholas Hawker, had left the start-up. In a post on X, he said: 'I remain 100pc convinced that fusion can be done. But there are a set of hard truths that no amount of VC hype can disappear.' David Bryon, First Light's chief financial officer, said the company had seen significant interest, both in the UK and internationally, in its £60m fundraising round. He said: 'This is thanks to our strategic shift to a capital-light, high-margin business with applications across fusion, materials science, space and sovereign defence. With our unique capabilities, First Light is putting Britain at the heart of the global inertial fusion market.'

Katie Price reveals Harvey has left college as she shares update on son's ‘next chapter'
KATIE Price has revealed Harvey has left college as she shared an update on his 'next chapter'. Page 3 legend Katie, 47, gushed over her eldest son in an Instagram update shared yesterday. 4 4 Posing alongside the 23-year-old, whose father is footballer Dwight Yorke, in a van, she wrote: "College done. So proud of my boy. Onto the next chapter xx." In the image, Katie pouted for the camera and wore a full face of make-up. Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, autism, and learning difficulties, looked delighted to be heading home, wearing a green shirt. It was only back in June that Katie revealed she had sent him back to college early after he caused damage to her TV. The mum-of-five revealed her shock at discovering that Harvey had become frustrated and smashed up her huge £3,000 television in the living room of her property. Katie documented the discovery on her Snapchat account before giving Harvey a dressing down for his actions and also confirming that she would be returning him to his college a day early as a result of his behaviour. The former glamour model uploaded a video in which she filmed Harvey's face and questioned him on his actions. She revealed she was woken up by him smashing the TV at around six in the morning. She asked him: "What has mummy just heard?" Harvey calmly replied: "Smashing the TV." Katie Price reveals son Harvey now weighs 30st as she gives update on his fat jabs and says 'I can't wait to see what he looks like' When she went on to ask him why he did it, Harvey appeared to answer that it had angered him as it was early in the morning. Katie later told her fans that he told her off-camera that he did not like what was on the screen but she appeared to rebuff this suggestions as she could be sure that there was nothing being shown. In the clip of her speaking to Harvey, she added: "You was going to college tomorrow to get some new meds [medication], but now when are you going? "You are going now." Harvey replied to this news by saying: "Oh god!" Katie insisted she had to spend the day getting a new TV and as such needed to send Harvey back to college before branding the whole ordeal as "sad". Harvey went on to apologise as he insisted he "would not do it again". Katie replied: "Well you've got to go to collage now and get some meds." Her decision for Harvey to go back to collage comes after she revealed that her 22-year-old son was due to start weight loss injections in order to control his ballooning weight. Harvey weight around 30st as a result of his many complex needs, including Prader-Willi syndrome, but Katie hopes the use of weight-loss drug Mounjaro will keep it under control. Speaking on her podcast with sister and co-host Sophie Price, Katie said: "Hopefully Harvey starts his Mounjaro this week, but we'll talk about that next week and I'll go through all of what's happening about that." The TV personality's eldest child has Prader-Willi syndrome, which sparks a constant desire to eat food and a permanent feeling of hunger which leads to obesity. Harvey battles a series of debilitating conditions including autism, septo-optic dysplasia, ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder. In a video posted in April, Katie revealed: 'I'm so heartbroken and gutted that his weight is just going up. 'I just googled it in stones, 188kg is just a few kg of being 30 stone. 'It's so life-threatening now, I'm still waiting for the doctors to get back to me starting on the mounjaro and his journey to a healthy life.' She continued: 'It's so sad his quality of life at the moment where he's so big, he just can't really do much." Katie is also mum to Junior and Princess Andre as well as Jett and Bunny Hayler.
