Angela Simmons Confirms Yo Gotti Breakup: 'I Had To Make A Decision'

Yahoo4 days ago

Following weeks of speculation, Angela Simmons has confirmed her split from Memphis rapper Yo Gotti.
Simmons, 37, confirmed the rumors during a sit-down on Angie Martinez's IRL podcast, where the legendary radio host asked, 'Are you telling me right now you're in your single girl era again?'
'Not by choice, but you know, I respect him,' Simmons replied, confusing Martinez, who followed up by asking who broke up with whom.
'This man proclaimed that he wanted to get with Angela Simmons,' Martinez said regarding Gotti announcing his crush on Simmons in 2016 hit 'Down In The DM.'
'This man, like, pursued you, so you're not telling me that he ended it, did he end the relationship?'
'No, it was my choice, you know, I just, I had to make a decision,' she replied before sharing that she isn't comfortable revealing further details just yet. 'Some stuff is better left unsaid.'
'Again, much love and respect to him, he's doing his thing, I'm happy for him.' Check out the full interview above.
Days after rumors began to swirl regarding a split, Simmons took to her social media with hints that the pair had called it quits.
'I want what wants me in life. In all areas. What flows FLOWS. What goes GOES,' wrote the fitness enthusiast on her Instagram Stories back in May. Followers took this to mean the pair had gone their separate ways, aided by Simmons choosing Chris Brown and Usher collab 'New Flame' to score the next slide.
Simmons and Gotti began dating in 2022, going public with their romance on New Year's Day, 2023.

After dating for five years, Ferrera and actor-director Ryan got engaged in June 2010. A year later, the pair married in Chappaqua, New York, at the home of her Ugly Betty costar Vanessa, 62. The couple went on to welcome two children together: son Sebastian in May 2018 and daughter Lucia in May 2020. Ryan previously posted a tribute to his wife in May to celebrate her 41st birthday, writing, "Such a beautiful weekend celebrating and dancing with my Queen! Happy Birthday @americaferrera." "We didn't tell anybody, any of our friends or family," Ferrera told PEOPLE in January 2024 of her husband's cheeky cameo. And it all started with an early Zoom call she had with Barbie director and co-writer Greta Gerwig. "I was telling her all my favorite parts of the script and all the parts that made me laugh out loud," the Emmy winner recalled. "And I said, 'Oh my God, I laughed so hard when you cut to the dad doing his Spanish lessons,' because my husband was literally in the other room doing his Spanish lessons." "Right away she was like, 'Oh my God, does he want to play your husband?' And I was like, 'I don't know, you'll have to ask him,' " Ferrera continued — and when Ryan said yes, "It was really fun and it a family affair, and it was great." File Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo June 27 (UPI) -- Selena Gomez will return as a guest star in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 2. The singer and actress, 32, will reprise Alex Russo in the new season of the Disney Channel and Disney+ series. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is a spinoff of and sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place, which had a four-season run from 2007 to 2012. The original series starred Gomez, David Henrie and Jake T. Austin as Alex, Justin and Max Russo, three half-wizard siblings living in New York City. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place centers on an adult Justin (Henrie), who has a wife (Mimi Gianopulos) and two sons, Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko). Justin takes in another young wizard, Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), and helps train her in magic. Gomez confirmed her return Thursday on Instagram Stories, posting a photo of herself with a wand and the caption "Just feels right..." Season 2 will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ in the fall. The season sees Billie (Brown) navigate the more complicated aspects of the Russo family, including Roman and Milo's new magical powers. "As the stakes rise inside and outside the family, a mysterious new threat emerges -- one that could unravel the Russos forever," a press release reads.
