Every innovation must contribute to society's progress
Hyderabad: A 'Workshop Expo – 2025' was grandly organized at Stanley College of Engineering for Women on Saturday. The workshop was held under the supervision of Dr. K. Rajesh (Associate Professor & Convener), with the display of over 100 project models by the students.
Prof. L. Sivarama Krishna (Director, Research & Development, University College of Engineering, Osmania University) attended the event as the Chief Guest and Judge and delivered an address.
In his speech, he stated that engineering is not limited to textbooks but is about transforming our thoughts and innovative abilities to meet the needs of society. He explained that engineering applications are nothing but the practical solutions implemented in various sectors, from technologies used in our daily life to industries, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, energy sector, and information technology. He emphasized that engineering is essentially the science of problem-solving and that every small innovation and model created by students should contribute to the progress of society. He advised students to not only focus on theoretical knowledge but also to enhance their practical applications through such exhibitions.
He encouraged students to take inspiration from great scientists like Sir C.V. Raman, Madam Curie, and legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, and showcase their technical talent and innovative skills to the world.
Among the models presented by the students, robotic technology, security detectors, rechargeable machines, solar energy projects, electric car models, drone technology, and 3D printing technology attracted special attention.

New Delhi, June 27 (UNI) Meedhansh Kumar Gupta, a young tech prodigy from Punjab, has received global recognition at the prestigious Global Child Prodigy Awards (GCPA) 2025, held yesterday at the House of Commons, British Parliament, United Kingdom. The GCPA is among the world's most esteemed platforms celebrating extraordinary talent under the age of 15. They launched the book of "Top 100 Child Prodigies 2025" from Member of Parliament, Orpington constituency. Since then, Meedhansh has become a multi-award-winning tech innovator, using his skills for social welfare. His accolades include national and world records — notably being recognized as the Youngest Website Developer in 2020. Over 200 students from govt college secure ranks in PGCETs
Rajamahendravaram: The Government Degree College (Autonomous) here has once again demonstrated its academic excellence, with more than 200 students securing ranks in various postgraduate entrance examinations for the academic year 2025–26. Students from the college achieved notable success in AP ICET, APPGCET, CUCET, and AP EDCET. S Komali from the Mathematics department secured the 3rd rank in the AP EDCET-2025. In AP ICET, over 60 students secured ranks within the top 1,000, including ranks 153, 209, 261, and 263. In APPGCET-2025, more than 150 students earned commendable ranks across various departments such as English, Telugu, Commerce, Economics, Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Geology, Mathematics, Computer Science and Geography. Principal Dr Ramachandra RK congratulated all the successful students and appreciated the faculty for their outstanding mentoring and academic support. This achievement is attributed to the special postgraduate coaching classes organised during the summer vacation, where faculty members extended dedicated academic support and mentoring. Vice-Principal Dr Sriram Murthy and PG coordinator Dr B Mallikarjuna also extended their best wishes to the achievers. The Heads of Departments expressed pride in the students' achievements and attributed their success to consistent preparation,disciplined study habits, and the college's academic environment.

Not just ‘Make in India', we call for ‘Invent in Telangana': Sridhar Babu
Hyderabad: 'Ourvision goes beyond 'Make in India'. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the people's government of Telangana is focused on 'Invent in Telangana'—a bold mission that reflects our commitment to innovation-driven growth,' said Minister for IT and Industries, Duddilla Sridhar Babu. Addressing the valedictory session of the Industrial Innovation and Technology Expo (IITEX) 2025, organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) at HITEX on Sunday, the Minister highlighted Telangana's focused efforts to transform into a global innovation hub. 'In the first quarter of the current financial year, Telangana's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) recorded a Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) of 2.9%, far surpassing the national average of just 0.52%. The state's Gross State Value Added (GSVA) from industry touched Rs 2.77 lakh crore in 2024–25. We also witnessed growth of 15.6% in power consumption, 9.8% in GST collections, and 13.9% in payroll enrollments—all of which point to robust industrial momentum.' 'Contrary to misinformation that industries are moving out of Telangana, the truth is the opposite: In just the last 18 months, we have attracted over Rs 3 lakh crore in investments, including Rs 40,000 crore in the Life Sciences sector alone. We have launched 150 new projects, creating employment for over 51,000 people directly and 1.5 lakh people indirectly,' the Minister said. To decentralize and balance industrial growth, Telangana is developing Future City, AI City, Life Sciences City, and Green Industrial Corridors, all adhering to international standards. Special zoning strategies are also underway: Inside the Outer Ring Road (ORR): Focus on technology and services zones; Between ORR and the Regional Ring Road (RRR): Manufacturing zones; Beyond RRR: Agricultural and Rural Innovation zones. 'These steps are part of a well-planned ecosystem designed for sustained economic expansion,' he added. Minister Sridhar Babu emphasized the government's focused efforts to strengthen Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which form the backbone of India's economy. 'In the past 18 months alone, over 15,000 new MSMEs have been established in Telangana. Our goal is to increase MSMEs' contribution to Telangana's GSDP to 10%,' he said. To achieve this, a dedicated MSME policy has been formulated and is being actively implemented. The government is also developing MSME parks in every district, with priority support for women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs.
