Muscat – In a vibrant celebration of innovation, creativity, and youth-led problem solving, Oman Shell, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), hosted the NXplorers Juniors and Seniors Award Ceremony.
The event gathered 31 outstanding student teams—a dynamic mix of junior and senior participants, each presenting innovative solutions to real-world sustainability challenges. These final presentations were the culmination of hands-on workshops, interactive training sessions, and guided mentorship that equipped students with critical thinking tools and the NXplorers methodology to tackle the food, water, and energy nexus.
Representing their schools in pairs, the students took part in a vibrant exhibition, where they showcased their ideas to, evaluators, special guests, and the Guest of Honor. Their projects were guided by Shell's NXthinking methodology, a unique approach that combines systems thinking, scenario planning, and change management.
The day concluded on a celebratory note, as 5 junior and 10 senior teams were honored for their exceptional ideas and their potential to drive tangible, positive change within their communities.
Launched in 2018, Shell NXplorers is the result of a longstanding partnership between Oman Shell and the Ministry of Education. It aims to empower young minds to explore complex problems related to food, water, and energy, and to inspire solutions through critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Ahnaf Al Zubaidi, Oman Shell's Social Investment and Community Relations Manager, said: 'Every year, we are inspired by the boldness and clarity with which our youth confront the challenges of tomorrow. NXplorers is more than a competition or a series of workshops, it's a launchpad for future changemakers. Together with the Ministry of Education, we are proud to nurture a generation that doesn't just imagine a better world, but actively builds it.'
The program's organizers reaffirmed that it serves as a dynamic extension of classroom learning—bringing to life the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical, creative thinking.
Zakia Al-Muqaimiya, Head of the Scientific Innovation Department at the Ministry of Education, remarked: 'The Shell NXplorers program goes beyond delivering scientific knowledge—it instills in our students the confidence to lead change. We take pride in continuing this partnership with Oman Shell to support a program that aligns closely with the Ministry's vision for a holistic and future-ready education. This year's ceremony marks yet another milestone in our journey to inspire a new generation of Omani youth—equipped not only with the tools of knowledge, but with the mindset and methodology to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.'

Shell's net-zero emissions target
Shell's operating plan, outlook and budgets are forecasted for a ten-year period and are updated every year.
