Ram Charan praised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his hard work against drug abuse and believes that drugs can harm families.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently organised a special event in Hyderabad to raise awareness about drug abuse. The event was held on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking, which brought together key personalities from politics and the film industry, including actor Ram Charan. Following the event, the RRR star praised the CM for his hard work against drug abuse. He believes that drugs can harm families, ruin futures and destroy dreams. Ram also urged everyone to unite and protect both society and the future of young people.
The actor tweeted, 'Drug abuse breaks families, destroys futures, and demolishes dreams. We should all take a stand against it and be vigilant in safeguarding our society and the future. I appreciate the Hon'ble CM of Telangana, Shri Revanth Reddy Garu, the Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau and the Government of Telangana for their constant efforts to combat drug abuse. On this International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, let us say no to drugs & be a soldier in the fight against drugs."

As per 123 Telugu, Ram Charan, during the event, said, 'I'd like to thank our state's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, my brother Vijay Deverakonda, Dil Raju, Pullela Gopichand, and everyone present here in such a meaningful awareness campaign under the 'Rising Telangana' initiative. I remember buying soda and popsicles at my school. Today, it's heartbreaking to hear that in those same places, children are unknowingly consuming harmful substances in pursuit of a temporary high."
The Game Changer star said that keeping our families, friends and schools safe is the most important thing. He shared that he never thought there would be a special day known all over the world just to spread awareness about drug abuse. Now that such a day exists, he feels it's the right time for everyone to join hands and support the Rising Telangana campaign. He encouraged people to not just watch from the side but to take part and help make a real difference in this important cause.
While Ram Charan's strong message against drug abuse was appreciated by many, it was his look from the upcoming film Peddi that grabbed fans' attention at the event. His new style became one of the main highlights. The much awaited pan India film also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Shiva Rajkumar in key roles. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film is scheduled to release on March 27, 2026.

Madras HC rejects plea to ban film reviews, upholds free speech

In a landmark judgment reinforcing the right to free expression, the Madras High Court has dismissed a plea by the Tamil Film Active Producers Association seeking a temporary three-day ban on film reviews post theatrical release. The association had argued that early reviews—especially negative ones—posted on social media and digital platforms were harming box office revenues and shaping public opinion prematurely. Presiding over the case, Justice N Anand Venkatesh strongly ruled against the petition, stating that such a request was not only impractical in today's digital world but also unconstitutional. He underscored that imposing a blanket restriction on reviews would infringe upon Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression. 'Criticism is inherently subjective,' the judge remarked. 'Just because someone disapproves of a film does not mean everyone will agree. In the same way that judges are critiqued on social media, filmmakers must also be open to differing opinions.' Justice Venkatesh further noted the logistical and legal difficulties of implementing such a ban in the age of global digital communication. 'How can this court stop someone in Azerbaijan or any other part of the world from sharing their views?' he questioned, stressing the futility of attempting to regulate online speech across borders. The court also took a subtle jab at the expectation of universally positive reviews, calling it 'unrealistic' and 'detached from reality.' Instead, the verdict advised producers to invest in quality storytelling and filmmaking rather than attempting to suppress criticism. The judgment comes at a time when film industries across India—including in Telugu cinema—have been mulling similar legal approaches to delay or regulate early reviews. The court's ruling is now being seen as a benchmark that protects the independence of film critics and online reviewers. Speaking to Hans India, Senior film reviewer Ch Srinivas said, 'This is a significant win for creative dialogue. Reviews—good or bad—are part of the artistic ecosystem. You can't have a thriving industry without accountability or conversation.' The verdict serves as a reminder that public discourse, especially around art and culture, is a cornerstone of democracy. In a media-driven society where audience engagement begins the moment a trailer drops, curbing opinions post-release is neither ethical nor enforceable. As the court rightly pointed out, the film industry would do better to address systemic issues such as content quality, piracy, and distribution challenges—rather than chasing after critics. The focus, as many now agree, must return to where it belongs: creating compelling cinema.

Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa outpaces Brad Pitt's F1 and Kajol's Maa

This Friday witnessed a box office clash among Kannappa, F1, and Maa. Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa emerged as the front-runner, grossing Rs 16.35 crore in two days, driven by strong Telugu market support. Brad Pitt's F1 followed with Rs 14 crore, while Kajol's Maa lagged behind at Rs 10.65 crore, struggling to gain traction despite the horror genre's popularity. The Indian box office saw an exciting three-way clash this Friday as Vishnu Manchu's mythological actioner Kannappa, Brad Pitt 's much-anticipated Formula 1 drama F1, and Kajol 's mythological horror thriller Maa hit theatres together. While the star power of Hollywood icon Brad Pitt and Bollywood veteran Kajol brought attention to their respective films, it's Kannappa that has emerged as the clear front-runner over the first two days. Kannappa Takes Pole Position Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa — a mythological epic starring Vishnu Manchu and cameo apperances by Akshay Kumar , Prabhas , Mohanlal and Kajal Agarwal — has raced ahead of its competition with a solid Rs 9.35 crore on its opening Friday. The film's primary business came from the Telugu market (Rs 8.25 crore), while smaller contributions trickled in from Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam territories. The positive word-of-mouth among regional audiences and the film's devotional-action premise seem to be working in its favour. On Saturday, the film maintained momentum with an early estimate of Rs 7 crore, taking its two-day total to Rs 16.35 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Considering its genre and market positioning, these are encouraging numbers, especially against stiff competition. Brad Pitt's F1 Sees Modest Uptick Despite Brad Pitt's global appeal, F1 managed a decent but not extraordinary start in India. The high-octane racing drama collected Rs 5.5 crore on Friday, with English formats contributing Rs 5 crore, while dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu added marginally. On Saturday, the film showed an expected jump, collecting Rs 8.5 crore (early estimates), pushing its two-day total to Rs 14 crore. While these figures are respectable for an international film in India, F1 finds itself trailing behind Kannappa, particularly in South markets where the local mythological subject has a stronger connection. Kajol's Maa Struggles to Find Footing On the other end, Kajol's supernatural horror Maa had a decent start, earning Rs 4.65 crore on its opening day. The film, which marks Kajol's return to the big screen in a horror avatar, picked up slightly on Saturday with Rs 6 crore (early estimate), taking its total to Rs 10.65 crore. Though the horror genre has seen a resurgence in recent years, Maa seems to have underperformed in comparison to expectations and faces an uphill task over the coming week. As it stands, Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa has decisively taken the lead in this three-way box office battle. With strong regional support and positive audience feedback, it remains to be seen whether F1 can close the gap over the Sunday jump, or if Maa can recover with word-of-mouth traction. For now, Kannappa holds the advantage.
