Walkways to lights, Noida's Transport Nagar Chowk set for a facelift
The space has been designed by Orionn Architects.
The project will transform a 500-metre stretch along DS Road into a safe, accessible, and visually appealing public space. It will feature tree-lined pedestrian walkways, landscaped greenery, decorative lighting, sculptures, benches, bollards, and ramps for differently-abled access.
A proper drainage system will be installed within the green belt, and kiosks will be set up near the roundabout.
Rainwater harvesting will also be incorporated to divert water toward the ground rather than into sewage drains.

Neelima Rana, a partner at Orionn Architects, said the vision behind the project is to create a "complete road" that is inclusive, sustainable, and safe for all users—motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists. She added that the design focuses on universal accessibility, featuring ramps, tactile flooring for the visually impaired, and smart road infrastructure such as energy-efficient lights and safe pedestrian crossings.

This initiative follows the Authority's pilot project, also designed by Orionn, where a 1.2km stretch from Shashi Chowk near Golf Course metro station to Noida City Centre was revamped into a model road. That project, costing Rs 4 crore, included walkways, sculptures, benches, smart poles with panic buttons, mobile charging points, bus bays, and WiFi zones. It drew inspiration from global cities like Singapore, London, and New York.
Building on the positive response to the model road, the Authority decided to replicate the concept in other parts of the city, starting with Sector 67.
"A tender was floated, and many companies have submitted their bids. The Authority is now in the process of finalising the agency that will be engaged in the project," said DGM (civil) Vijay Kumar Rawal, adding that this is the latest step in Noida Authority's ongoing efforts to make its public spaces greener, safer, and more accessible.

Remove Ads Work on a 5.3-km road stretch connecting Dwarka Expressway to IMT Manesar is set to begin soon, nearly two years after the project got approval. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority ( GMDA ) awarded the Rs 49.4 crore project to an agency last week, and mobilisation of manpower and machinery has already started, an official said on project, which aims to provide smoother and safer travel for commuters in the new sectors, has a completion deadline of March 2026. Approved in January 2023, it involves upgrading and strengthening an existing six-lane master road that passes through sectors 84-88, 85-89, 86-90 and features of the upgrade include construction of a cycle track, surface drain, greenbelt, footpaths, streetlights, and road safety furniture.'This corridor is critical for reducing congestion and the upgrade will be instrumental in improving traffic flow,' said Arun Dhankar , chief engineer at GMDA. 'Development of this key stretch will greatly enhance the connectivity between Dwarka Expressway and IMT Manesar.'The stretch begins at the Central Peripheral Road (CPR) interchange of Dwarka Expressway and extends to Kankrola village, linking directly to IMT Manesar. It also provides access to NH-48, Sohna Highway and the Southern Peripheral to GMDA, this stretch sees around 28,000 passenger car units daily. With the opening of Dwarka Expressway, traffic on this road has increased significantly. Service roads will be constructed on both sides of the main carriageway to help reduce congestion.'The road will pass through sectors 84-91 and will provide improved access to commuters and residents traversing these sectors,' Dhankar built by the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran in 2010–2011, the road has deteriorated over time. Commuters often complain about potholes, rough surfaces, and difficult driving conditions, especially during rains.'It's a much-needed upgrade that we have been demanding for a long time,' said Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Sector 86. 'The road has been in bad shape for years and it's really difficult to drive, especially during rains. The addition of service roads and drainage will make a difference,' he added, 'I only hope GMDA will not take forever to complete the project just like the Rampura-Pataudi redevelopment.'The road also passes several residential societies, commercial spaces, shopping complexes and schools. Gurugram University , located in Kankrola village in Sector 87 along this road, was inaugurated last year, further increasing the importance of the route.
