ONE Championship: Anane determined to avenge devastating Superlek defeat at ONE 172

The 20-year-old has already established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Muay Thai but fell to Superlek in the first round when they met in 2023 – a humbling moment for the towering 6'4 Thai-Algerian.
But rather than let that defeat define him, he used it as fuel. Since then, he has put together a dominant six-fight winning streak, capped by a stunning stoppage win over Nico Carrillo at ONE 170 to claim the interim bantamweight Muay Thai title and a US$50,000 bonus.
'Yes, because I have lost once and now is my revenge – I'm the underdog for sure,' Anane said of his coming fight with Superlek.
Anane is no stranger to big fights. Despite his age, he has already faced and beaten some of the world's best. But he said this one feels different.

'This second time, I really don't want to lose,' he said. 'And it's going to be a great fight.'

‘I want to be first Polish world champion' – Kierczynska's ONE Championship aim
A certain brash Irishman once made a phrase synonymous with combat sports: 'We're not here to take part, we're here to take over.' Advertisement Martyna Kierczynska is anything but brash, but she would almost certainly subscribe to Conor McGregor's sentiment. Quietly confident, respectful, and technically gifted, the Polish phenom carries herself with conviction – and believes she belongs at the top. The 23-year-old Muay Thai standout is preparing for her third appearance in ONE Championship and has made no secret of her long-term goal. 'I want to be the first Polish world champion in ONE Championship,' Kierczynska told the Post. 'That's my goal; I'm doing everything I can to be on top.' Originally scheduled to face Scotland's Amy Pirnie in Bangkok, Kierczynska was handed a late opponent switch when Pirnie withdrew. Stepping in will be Cynthia Flores, a 30-year-old from Mexico with a WBC international title on her resume.

Gilgeous-Alexander agrees record contract extension
Gilgeous-Alexander agrees record contract extension The deal gives Gilgeous-Alexander the highest annual salary in NBA history. File photo: Reuters Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has agreed a four-year US$285 million contract extension, the richest per-year contract in NBA history, according to US media reports. Gilgeous-Alexander, who guided the Thunder to the NBA championship last month after a campaign that saw him win regular season and finals Most Valuable Player awards, is now tied to the club through 2031. The 26-year-old Canadian point guard has two years remaining on his existing contract with Oklahoma City worth US$79.1 million. The four additional seasons of his contract extension will see him receive US$62.5 million, US$68.6 million, US$73.7 million and then US$78.7 million in 2030-2031. The deal gives Gilgeous-Alexander the highest annual salary in the NBA, eclipsing the average US$64.3 million salary of the Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid and the US$62.8 million earned by the Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum. Gilgeous-Alexander was the fulcrum of the Thunder's dazzling 68-win Western Conference season, before inspiring the team to a 4-3 NBA Finals victory over the Indiana Pacers last month. The Thunder ace averaged a league-high 32.7 points during the regular season and 30.3 points in the NBA Finals on his way to completing his MVP double. He became only the fourth player in history to win both NBA regular season and finals MVP awards as well as the league's scoring title, putting him into an exclusive club alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal.
