The iconic Rockettes turn 100
Julie Branam, Resident Director Choreographer, Radio City Music Hall, says, 'There's no place else where, really, the Rockettes fit better than at Radio City Music Hall, where we have a 70-foot-wide proscenium that fits all the Rockettes.'
New Jersey native Danelle Mogan is celebrating her own Rockette milestone with her 20th season. 'Whether it's your first year or your 28th year, there's something so special about being a Radio City Rockette, and I think that's why we sort of stick around so long.'
For the Sullivan twins, also from New Jersey, who have childhood memories of seeing the high kickers perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. 'As identical twins, we're like, wow, that's something that we could do as it's been in, like our DNA and our genes, to dance together. We have always been in sync.' Their years of training in jazz, tap and ballet paid off. 'Being from New Jersey, New York has always been in our backyard, so our parents come to a lot of shows.'
The saying goes, 'Once a Rockette, always a Rockette.' So to celebrate the 100th anniversary, the dance company is inviting all former Rockettes to share their story. Julie Branam says it's a way to keep the legacy going. 'We'll keep archiving all of that information. It's like a living, breathing tribute to everyone who has been a Rockette.'
A century of high kicks and timeless charm. Courtney Sullivan says, ''It's just such an honor to be a part of this line of women and to celebrate those who came before us.'
Fun fact: The Rockettes may be synonymous with New York City, but did you know they actually originated in St. Louis?Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

This common mistake could be attracting bees to your hummingbird feeder, but it's easy to fix
Hummingbirds love to dive in and devour the sticky sugar and water nectar in hummingbird feeders. But, while these beautiful birds feed, there's another insect that wants to take a snack. Bees also love this sweet treat as it mimics the natural nectar found in flowers, and just like it does with hummingbirds, it provides them with a rich source of energy. While the occasional bee won't be an issue, if a swarm arrives, the hummingbirds will be deterred from feeding and will seek their food source elsewhere. However, there is a way to discourage bees from feeding on your hummingbird nectar by simply making one change to your hummingbird nectar recipe. While the standard recipe includes sugar and water, the key is changing the ratio of ingredients. Dan DeBaun, bird blogger at Dan's Bird Bites, told Tom's Guide that the ideal hummingbird nectar contains one part table sugar with four parts water. And to make the nectar, you don't need to use boiling water, as long as it's hot enough to dissolve the sugar and left to cool to room temperature before adding to your feeder. But to keep the bees at bay, there's a simple change you can make to your nectar recipe by changing the sugar-to-water ratio. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. All it takes is changing the ratio to one part sugar to five parts water. This easy adjustment will dilute the sugar and make it less attractive to bees, while still encouraging hummingbirds to feed. This smart hummingbird feeder provides a safe space for the birds to feed. You can capture video and photos of the tiny backyard creatures and it's all powered by solar energy. The Bird Buddy app then uses Ai to identify hummingbirds and other species, with real-time alerts. However, if this isn't enough to deter the bees from your hummingbird feeder, there are other tactics you can employ. Birds & Blooms suggests planting pollinator-friendly plants near your feeder to encourage the bees to dive into the plants rather than the feeder. Meanwhile, Home Sweet Bees recommends using a red hummingbird feeder without yellow in the design, as yellow is a big draw to bees, but they are less attracted to the color red than hummingbirds. Home Sweet Bees also suggests placing a decoy feeder in another location and filling it with a stronger sugar solution than you would use for your hummingbird nectar. The bees will be enticed by the sweeter nectar and leave your hummingbirds to feed alone. Follow Tom's Guide on Google News to get our up-to-date news, how-tos, and reviews in your feeds. Joey motions for the dealer to leave and he does quickly. Vanessa says they can't afford to go into debt again. Doug goes OFF saying every dollar he spends at the casino will get funneled through his wife's company because she and Joey are in bed together… figuratively, of course. Joey wants Doug to head out but he still wants to play a round of cards. That being said, Doug knows he's as likely to play cards tonight as he is to see under his wife's dress. Eva realizes their last encounter was good (wait til you hear the details, Eva!) and says she is happy for Tomas. He apologizes for what almost went down between them and thanks her for putting on the brakes. He says he wasn't playing games and if he wasn't in love with her sister… Those words stop and stun Eva. After he hems and haws, she realizes he and Kat did the deed. With that, she tells him to go find Kat and wishes him a good night. Afterwards, she begins to break down. Hotel – Ted's Room: Kat arrives and says she can't stay long. Ted goes in about her vendetta against Eva. Kat counters saying Leslie and Eva are trying to ruin their lives. Explained: Why is Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle fashion ad being called ‘tone-deaf' and ‘Nazi'?
A new ad campaign featuring Euphoria and White Lotus star Sydney Sweeney has sparked fierce backlash over racial undertones, leading some to label it as 'tone-deaf' and even 'Nazi'. Another case of Godwin's law – which states that any online discussion that goes on for long enough will increase the probability of a comparison involving Nazis? Or is this ad so poorly fashioned that critics have a point? Let's start - as logic dictates - at the beginning. The popular American actress appears in a campaign for American Eagle, designed to celebrate American style. In it, the 27-year-old sports a pair of jeans, flaunts her curves and tells viewers: "I'm not here to tell you to buy American Eagle jeans... And I definitely won't say they're the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn, or that they make your butt look amazing." Then, the slogan "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans" pops up on the screen. Fair enough, as they do look comfy. However, the actress then says: 'See what I did there, right?' - highlighting the 'jeans' / 'genes' double entendre. This was taken a step further in a follow-up video posted to American Eagle's Instagram, which shows Sweeney approaching a billboard with the phrase 'great genes' and striking out the word 'genes' and replacing it with 'jeans.' In another spot, Sweeney says: "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality, and even eye colour... My jeans are blue.' This is followed by a voiceover that states: "Sydney Sweeney has great Jeans." Clever wordplay for some; significantly more problematic for others. Indeed, critics have accused the ad of peddling 'Nazi' propaganda, pointing out that the play on words with 'great genes' has racist connotations and veers towards white supremacist ideals. Many have also highlighted that considering Sweeney is blue-eyed and blonde-haired, it echoes eugenic messaging. Cue: a heated and viral culture debate between those who think the controversy is overblown by the 'woke brigade" and those who believe that this is not only a reminder of the fashion world's long history of celebrating white privilege, but an unintentional mirroring of fascist ideas. Then there are also those who are convinced that the phrasing of the ad was by design, and that American Eagle was looking to kick the hornet's nest when it comes to issues of race and nationalism. Check out some of the reactions below: 'I didn't know what everyone was freaking out about with that Sydney Sweeney ad but then I realised I should watch it with the sound on and OH MY GOD. Yeah that's some f*cked Aryan eugenics shit.' 'So Sydney (& American Eagle) somehow expect audiences to not interpret this visual as a euphemism for eugenics and white supremacy?' 'Maybe I'm too f*cking woke,' another added. 'But getting a blue eyed, blonde, white women and focusing your campaign around her having perfect genetics feels weird, especially considering the current state of America.' 'I hate the Sydney Sweeney jeans ad, it's like why are we promoting eugenics with the state of this country rn, NO I don't want your genes actually. F*ck you American Eagle.' To make matters knottier, the campaign also purports to raise awareness of domestic violence with a line designed by Sweeney called The Sydney Jean - with the full purchase price going to the Crisis Text Line, which offers mental health support. Many online have labelled this 'completely tone-deaf.' As of writing, the actress has not released a statement regarding the backlash. Neither has American Eagle. How damaging is this to both Sweeney and the company? It's up for debate. As recently evidenced by Coldplaygate, not all controversy can be hurtful to a brand... However, that was properly handled. In this case, the company's silence has rubbed people up the wrong way and intensified calls for the campaign to be pulled. Sayantani DasGupta, a professor of Narrative Medicine, has even analysed the ads in a viral TikTok post, showing how the American Eagle campaign is "imbued with eugenic messaging", which has seen the "forced sterilization and decrease of reproduction among undesirable communities" in the American South. The professor concluded the American Eagle advert is "contributing to and reinforcing this kind of anti-immigrant, anti-people of colour, pro-eugenic, political moment." So, what do you think? An innocent mistake? A fascistic campaign? Or a shameless attempt to rile people up to give the brand some publicity? If it's the latter, the viral spots worked. They propelled the company's stock by a reported 15 per cent, representing an estimated $310 million boost to its market valuation since their release. It would seem that courting controversy – no matter how crass – does wonders for your stock, financially speaking. However, when it comes to the court of public opinion and reputational risks, it's a more dangerous gamble. Solve the daily Crossword
