Ethereum investors pile into ETH amid massive weekly surge
Corporate Ether treasury companies accumulated more than 545,000 ETH over the past 30 days, according to recent purchase announcements.
On Monday, BitMine Immersion Technologies, chaired by Fundstrat's Tom Lee, announced that its total Ether holdings were 163,142 ETH, worth around $480 million at current market value.
Comparing to the aggressive Bitcoin accumulation by Michael Saylor's Strategy, Lee said, 'ETH treasuries which [can] accumulate 5% of the ETH supply can benefit from a similar 'Wall Street put',' implying that Wall Street will become bullish on Ethereum in the same way it is for Bitcoin and Strategy. Joe Lubin's SharpLink is the treasury king
Meanwhile, Joseph Lubin's gaming platform, SharpLink, acquired another 10,000 ETH on July 11, 16,370 ETH on July 13, and a further 24,371 ETH for $73.2 million on Monday, bringing its total to over 255,000 ETH and making it the largest corporate Ethereum treasury.
Consensys founder Lubin has even referred to himself as a 'self-appointed representative of The League of Extraordinary ETH Accumulator Gentlemen,' tipping his hat to BitMine and others for their recent accumulation acceleration. Expanding list of Ethereum treasuries
Other companies that have recently acquired Ethereum for corporate treasuries include digital asset platform Bit Digital, with more than 100,000 ETH, and Blockchain Technology Consensus Solutions (BTCS), which raised $62.4 million to expand its ETH holdings to 29,122 ETH this month.
Meanwhile, GameSquare announced a strategic plan for a $100 million Ethereum treasury on July 8.
Almost $1 billion in Ether fund inflows
It comes as Ethereum-based digital investment funds posted their 12th consecutive week of inflows, totalling $990 million, the fourth largest weekly inflow on record, reported asset manager CoinShares on Monday.
Ethereum products have seen more than $4 billion in inflows so far this year, and almost 30% of that has come in the last two weeks as institutions pile into the asset.
In relative terms, Ethereum's inflows over the past 12 weeks account for 19.5% of the total assets under management for all global Ether funds, compared to 9.8% for Bitcoin funds, CoinShares noted.
ETH prices topped $3,000 for the first time since February on July 11, but have pulled back below it at the time of writing with a 17% gain on the week.

Uber to invest $300mln in EV maker Lucid as part of robotaxi deal
Uber will invest $300 million in electric vehicle maker Lucid in a robotaxi deal that aims to start with one major U.S. city late next year, the companies said on Thursday. Over six years starting in 2026, Uber will acquire and deploy over 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs that will be equipped with autonomous vehicle (AV) technology from startup Nuro, the three companies said in a statement. The agreement illustrates the renewed plans and push for financing for self-driving cabs years after a first wave of autonomous driving investment produced only a limited number of vehicles. Tesla has recently launched a robotaxi trial in Austin and Alphabet's driverless taxi unit Waymo is speeding up its expansion. As part of their announced deal, Uber will invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Lucid and Nuro, which supplies self-driving technology to automakers, the joint statement said. Of that, $300 million will go to Lucid, the EV maker said in a separate filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday. Uber's latest move underscores its renewed push into the robotaxi space after exiting in 2020. Since then, Uber has pivoted to partnerships with several technology developers, including Waymo and Aurora. The deal with Lucid follows Uber's robotaxi agreement in April with Volkswagen that will supply its vans for commercial service planned for Los Angeles next year. But commercializing AV tech has been much harder than anticipated with high costs, tight regulations and federal investigations forcing many, including General Motors' Cruise, to shut down. Some still in the race include Zoox, which is testing a robotaxi without manual controls and plans to launch commercial services in Las Vegas this year. After years of missed promises, Tesla started a restricted trial with about a dozen of its Model Y SUVs in Austin, Texas, last month. CEO Elon Musk has said it will expand the service rapidly to other U.S. cities this year. Waymo has been growing cautiously for years and operates in several U.S. cities with about 1,500 vehicles. It crossed 100 million miles of autonomous driving this month. A prototype of the Lucid-Nuro robotaxi is already operating autonomously on a closed circuit at Nuro's testing facility in Las Vegas, the companies said. "We are expanding beyond our traditional EV technology leadership and working on partnerships and going now into areas that in the past we have not really focused on," Lucid's interim CEO Marc Winterhoff told Reuters. Nuro, co-founded and led by former Waymo engineers, has expanded from making last-mile delivery vehicles to providing its self-driving technology for commercial and passenger vehicles. "We have other very active conversations going on the personal vehicle side ... where we would integrate Nuro driver into vehicles that will get sold to end consumers," Dave Ferguson, Nuro's co-founder and president, said. Nuro will still need to apply for state-level operating licenses though it holds some licenses from their previous delivery operations, he said. US retail sales beat expectations in June
U.S. retail sales rebounded more than expected in June, but some of the increase likely reflected higher prices for some goods exposed to tariffs. Retail sales increased 0.6% last month after an unrevised 0.9% drop in May, the Commerce Department's Census Bureau said on Thursday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast retail sales, which are mostly goods and are not adjusted for inflation, edging up 0.1%. Part of the rise in retail sales last month could be due to tariff-driven price increases rather than volumes. Inflation data this week showed solid increases in June in the prices of tariff-sensitive goods like household furnishings and supplies, appliances, sporting goods and toys. Retail sales excluding automobiles, gasoline, building materials and food services increased 0.5% last month after a downwardly revised 0.2% in May. These so-called core retail sales, which correspond most closely with the consumer spending component of gross domestic product, were previously reported to have increased 0.4% in May. "All told, the household sector still appears to be holding up, but a moderation in consumer spending appears under way," said Sam Bullard, a senior economist at Wells Fargo. UAE announces deduction of tax depreciation on fair-valued investment property for firms
Firms in the UAE can now deduct tax depreciation on fair valued investment property, the Ministry of Finance announced on July 17. Under the new decision, taxpayers (who elect for the realisation basis) can elect to deduct depreciation from their taxable income (hereafter known as 'tax depreciation') for investment properties that are held on a fair value basis. The decision comes under the Depreciation Adjustments for Investment Properties held at Fair Value for the Purposes of Federal Decree-Law No. (47) of 2022 on the Taxation of Corporations and Businesses. The tax depreciation deduction available will be the lower of the tax written down value of the investment property or four per cent of the original cost of the investment property, for each 12-month tax period or otherwise prorated for part of the tax period. During this period, the relevant investment property will be held, and will be available to taxpayers who hold investment properties prior to and/or after the introduction of corporate tax. The decision provides clarity as to the value upon which tax depreciation can be claimed depending on whether the investment property is transferred between related parties or third parties or has been constructed/developed by the taxpayer. It also provides parity between taxpayers who hold investment properties on a historical cost basis, who can already benefit from a deduction for accounting depreciation, with those who hold investment properties on a fair value basis. To avail this benefit, this decision therefore requires taxpayers to make this irrevocable election in their first tax period beginning on or after January 1, 2025, in which they hold an investment property and such election will apply to all investment properties going forward. Given the realisation basis must have been elected by taxpayers wanting to benefit from the tax depreciation election, and that the realisation basis election is generally made in the first tax period, the decision also allows for an exceptional window for taxpayers to opt in to elect for the realisation basis to avail the tax depreciation deduction. Finally, the decision provides guidance on when the claw-back of tax depreciation may occur in instances outside of a disposal of an investment property such that taxpayers are aware of their tax compliance obligations and are able to accurately assess their returns on investment property.
