Apple has ordered ten episodes for the show. According to the series' official logline, it is a 'heartbreaking and hilarious recounting of Jennette McCurdy's struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother (Aniston).
The dramedy will center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid's show and her narcissistic mother, who relishes in her identity as 'a starlet's mother.''
McCurdy earlier appeared in a number of other TV series and movies in addition to starring in Nickelodeon shows like "iCarly." "I'm Glad My Mom Died," which she published with Simon & Schuster in 2022, hit the top of the New York Times bestseller list and stayed there for more than a year.
The series will be written and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Katcher ('Ramy,' 'Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show'). Through Echo Films, Aniston will both star and executive produce. Along with Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara for LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay,
Sharon Horgan
, and Stacy Greenberg serve as executive producers for Merman. Production will be done by Apple Studios.
Given that Aniston right now stars in and executive produces Apple TV+'s popular drama "The Morning Show," which is launching its fourth season in September, the role strengthens her relationship with the streaming service.

She has received two acting Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work on the show.

Calling it "complicated" and "layered", she shared, "The Morning Show is just a beast to film. 'The Morning Show', also known as Morning Wars in Australia and Indonesia, features Billy Crudup, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. The series premiered on Apple TV on November 1, 2019. "We're involved in every single aspect of the show, on top of just the performance side, which is a big piece of it," said Aniston, adding, "But I've got incredible support, and we have such an incredible team." The Morning Show, which premiered in 2019, follows news anchors at the fictional station UBA as they navigate their personal and professional lives, reported People. F1 The Movie surpasses box office milestone, races past 3 dozen Brad Pitt movies

F1 The Movie is proving to be a serious box office success. The Formula 1 drama, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski, has crossed the $100 million mark domestically. That's after opening on June 27 with $57 million, the biggest ever for an Apple Studios title, reported ScreenRant. US actor and producer Brad Pitt poses on the red carpet upon arrival for the European Premier of F1 The Movie, at Cineworld Leicester Square, central London, on June 23, 2025. (HENRY NICHOLLS / AFP) As of this weekend, the film is expected to hit a domestic total of about $109 million, according to Deadline. It is the ninth release of 2025 to reach that milestone. It has already outperformed over three dozen major projects in his career, including Interview with the Vampire, Se7en and Moneyball. It's still climbing. At its current pace, F1 could soon overtake Inglourious Basterds, which made just over $120 million. Can F1 The Movie break into the Top 5? Here's what stands between F1 The Movie and Brad Pitt's best-performing domestic releases: #10: Inglourious Basterds – $120.8M #9: Ocean's Twelve – $125.5M #8: Benjamin Button – $127.5M #7: Troy – $133.3M #6: Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood – $142.5M #5: Megamind – $148.4M F1 would need another $12 million to crack the top 10. That seems likely within the next two weeks. Breaking into the top five, however, means pulling in $40 million more. That's still possible, but it may take time. Competition ahead could slow momentum F1 The Movie dropped about 55 per cent in its second weekend. If it sees a similar dip in the coming weeks, it could add another $11 million by mid-July. That would secure its place in Pitt's top 10. Still, the race won't be easy. Several big titles are on the way-Jurassic World Rebirth, a new Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Any of them could edge F1 out of premium screens and impact its legs. Still a big win for Apple Studios Even if it doesn't break into Pitt's Top 5 box office grossers, F1 The Movie is a major success for Apple. With a production budget reportedly between $200 million and $300 million, it may not look wildly profitable at the box office alone. But Apple doesn't rely on theatrical revenue the way traditional studios do. Their strategy uses theatres to build buzz ahead of a movie's Apple TV+ release. On that front, F1 is already their biggest theatrical hit ever. Domestically, only Napoleon and Killers of the Flower Moon have made more. With strong word of mouth and Pitt's star power still pulling in audiences, F1 The Movie is on track to become one of Apple's biggest prestige wins to date. FAQs What is the budget of F1 The Movie? The film's production budget is estimated to be between $200 million and $300 million. Is F1 The Movie the most expensive movie ever made? No, several other blockbusters like Avatar: The Way of Water had higher production costs. What is the No. 1 box office movie right now? F1 The Movie is among the top earners in 2025, though not the global No. 1.

Is Lewis Hamilton Ready for F1: The Movie Sequel? Racer Reacts to USD 144M Global Box Office Hit Starring Brad Pitt

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton says he wants to take things slow when it comes to a sequel to the new F1 movie, which just had a huge box office debut. Hamilton, who worked as an executive producer on the film, spoke to reporters on Thursday, July 3, ahead of the British Grand Prix. He made it clear he doesn't want to jump into another movie too soon. The F1 film, starring Brad Pitt as a seasoned driver making a comeback, opened big with USD 55.6 million in North America and USD 144 million globally over its first weekend. This makes it Apple's biggest box-office opening yet, according to studio numbers released Sunday. Hamilton says now is not the time for a sequel 'We literally just finished it, so I think the last thing we want right now is a sequel,' Hamilton said. He shared how much effort went into the project, which took four years to make. 'It was a lot of work, particularly for (director Joseph Kosinski). It's time away from your family, it's time away from your kids, and also you need this to just simmer for a while, you know. Like, let's enjoy it.' The Ferrari driver stated that rushing another movie could ruin the quality. 'I think the worst thing we probably could do is to rush into doing a sequel,' he said. 'Most sequels are way worse, and so we don't need to rush it. I think if we do do a sequel, I would say let's really, really take our time in getting it even better.' Here's why Hamilton wants a 'Debrief' like F1 Lewis Hamilton also wants to apply lessons from racing to filmmaking. He said he's asking for a 'debrief' on the F1 movie, just like teams do after every race. 'Let's review what we did, what we could have done better,' he said. 'I don't know if they ever do that in the movie business, but it's something obviously I've learned from here.' The F1 movie's strong box office shows how much fans want to see the racing world on the big screen. Having a big star like Brad Pitt and Hamilton behind the scenes helped draw crowds. The movie's success also shows Apple's growing push into major film releases. While fans may want a sequel soon, Hamilton believes it's better to wait and make sure it's done right. For now, he says everyone should enjoy what they created before thinking about what comes next.
