Indonesia boat fire passengers jump into sea as vessel bursts into flames
A boat has burst into fire off the coast of Indonesia, with terrified passengers seen jumping for their lives into the sea.
The Gregorius Barcelona V was sailing off the coast of North Sulawesi, Indonesia when it caught fire. Passengers were seen jumping in the sea to save themselves while some parents carrying kids remained on the ship. It's not yet known if anyone has been killed.
The maritime disaster comes just a day after a tourist boat carrying more than 50 people capsized off the coast of Vietnam, killing at least 38, reports the Mirror.
The ferry had earlier departed from the Talaud Islands and was en route to Manado when it erupted in a blaze off the coast of North Sulawesi on July 20.
A joint search and rescue team has been deployed to the location where the ship caught on fire.
"Yes, the KN Bima Sena Likupang team immediately went to the location. Basarnas ships and boats from several dive resorts were also on site," said the Head of Basarnas Manado, George Randang.
Horrifying videos have emerged on social media showing several passengers aboard the ship jumping from the Barcelona V as black flames billow out of the ship's hull.

Woman behind viral Jet2 voiceover's rise to fame – from Butlins job to soaps role
A Jet2 advert audio has gone viral on TikTok with many users adding it to funny travel or holiday clips but people are only just learning who does the voice of the now global meme If you've been on social media in the last few weeks you've probably heard a certain Jet2holidays meme audio. It quickly went viral, largely due to a TikTok trend, and people are only just realising the familiar voice behind it. The voiceover star is Zoë Lister, who played the role of Zoe Carpenter in Hollyoaks from 2006 to 2010. After that she was a writer for Hollyoaks and some children's TV dramas for 10 years but today she is most recognisable for voicing a Jet2holidays advert that features the catchy line 'nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' with Jess Glynne's song Hold My Hand playing in the background. Zoë told Mirror she recorded this voiceover around 18 months ago but in the last few weeks it has 'just exploded around the world". A TikTok trend has dominated the platform and it involves short clips of travel blunders and funny holiday moments with the Jet2 campaign soundtrack. There are currently 1.4 million TikTok videos using the Jet2 jingle and more than 192,000 clips using the hashtag Jet2holidays. What's more mind-blowing is Jet2holidays is a UK operator that only flies to destinations across Europe but the voiceover has reached global online audiences. Zoë, who has worked on the Jet2holidays voiceovers for seven years, was completely taken by surprise when she noticed the audio had gone viral. She said she is 'permanently astonished' and has received messages from people across the world. The 43-year-old mum-of-two, who grew up in Redditch in the Midlands, added: 'TikTok is amazing because it reaches so many people and so many different kind of audiences are on it and responding to things and making really funny content with whatever they can find and you know I guess the voiceover because it's so relentlessly upbeat it lends itself well to parody videos.' Zoë has even been asked to perform the voiceover on stage at festivals in the UK and shared she thinks last year was 'Brat girl summer' and 'this year is like Jet2 girl summer". She explained she first started being sent videos in October of people using the Jet2holidays voiceover on funny travel videos and she saw a post on TikTok or Instagram of someone dressed as Jess Glynne for Halloween and someone else dressed as a flight attendant who did the voiceover. The funniest video Zoë has seen using the viral audio meme is one of a woman on a fast rollercoaster who gets hit in the chest by a flying seagull and then realises she needs to get the bird off her. Zoë explained: 'We (Brits) love to take the mickey out of things and finding everything funny basically but what has been surprising is the fact that the rest of the globe are in on it as well even though they don't know what a Jet2 holiday is.' The voiceover artist revealed that initially she was unsure how Jet2 felt about the viral nature of the meme and two weeks ago she was 'crying' to her husband as she was worried that Jet2 might rebrand. Luckily, she later found that Jet2 'have a great sense of humour' so she didn't need to worry as it has 'turned into the best ad campaign for years'. Zoë's career started as a singer and dancer for Butlins before she moved to London and became an actress, TV writer and began doing voiceovers. She first got involved with Jet2 when they sponsored Love Island and then she ended up doing the whole campaign. The mum-of-two has since done many different ad campaigns for Jet2 which has kept her busy and described it as 'quite a gift of a job.' Zoë also disclosed a new project she is working on inspired by the viral success of the Jet2 campaign: 'I am going to launch a podcast and I think it's going to be called Absurdly Camp Z Lister because I did ask Chat GPT what it was about the voiceover that people have so responded to and Chat GPT was like quite rude and said 'the absurdly camp delivery' and that phrase has really stuck with me and I'm like I'm just going to lean into this.'

Hidden phone charge costing Brits who visit popular holiday destination £300
Those headed to this popular European beach destination this summer need to be careful as social media users warn of an unexpected phone charge which could set you back hundreds of pounds Brits heading to Corfu have been warned to be the lookout this summer for a hidden network charge – which could hit them before they've even left the airport. Worse still, it could even cost them hundreds. Instead of unwinding, tourists have been left confused after receiving a 'Welcome to Albania' text message upon arrival at their island destination - despite Corfu being a part of Greece. As reported by the Daily Mail, an employee from MailOnline recently holidayed at the popular holiday destination. He shared a text he received upon landing, which came from a service named 'Rate Advice.' It reads: "Welcome to Albania! Calls, texts and data in Albania are chargeable and do not come out of your standard allowances or UK data add-ons. Roam Beyond data add-ons for this destination are available in the iD Mobile app for as little as GBP5.00. "If you haven't already purchased a Roam Beyond data add-on, it will cost GBP1.50 per MB. Minutes and texts are not included , and will cost GBP0.60 per text to roam. To protect you from excessive charges, a GBP45.00 roaming data cap is in place." The issue arises from Corfu's proximity to Albania. Despite being located in Greece, it lies relatively close (30 miles) to Ksamil, a small beachside village in the Albanian Riviera. Due to its location, the strength of Albanian mobile phone signals from the coast can cause phones to connect to them automatically. This can occur even when the user is in a completely different country. Aside from causing confusion, this mix-up can end up costing tourists – which is why unfortunate holidaymakers jumped on social media over the summer to warn others of unexpected charges. Steve Moore, from Chesterfield, came on to the popular Facebook group, We Love Sidari, to complain about his experience. He wrote: "I arrived Sunday, usual welcome text to Corfu charges just the same as UK - 2 days later message welcome to Albania this is your charges." He continued: "Wow what a rip off, phoned company and after 45 mins of conversation was told the network must of changed to a different mast. You need to keep an eye on it otherwise it will cost you a lot." A second Facebook user also chimed in, pointing out that appears to happen in specific parts of the island. 'Only if you go to the east of the island,' they wrote. 'I did that mistake while on a quad. Using google maps. £128 to drive up road lol.' A third added, 'We got caught out £298 bill when we got home.' So, how do you avoid these charges? Travellers are urged to either contact their provider regarding the situation, switch off 'roaming' or manually select a Greek network in their phone's settings - rather than relying on automatic network selection. As one Facebook commenter advised: 'All you do is let your phone set it's paired Greek network automatically when you arrive on the island at the airport. Once it's selected the correct Greek network, go into your settings and turn OFF 'automatically select network'.' They added: 'This means your phone will not hunt for or connect to anything else other than your correct Greek network.' Although, they warned users to remember to switch it back once they return to the UK. To avoid these charges, Georgia Brivida, from the international SIM provider Sim Local, has urged Brits to switch off the 'autoplay' feature on their phones before boarding their next flight. She revealed that the setting could quietly drain data and lead to a significant phone bill, in many cases without users even noticing. She explained: "Autoplay is a feature that automatically plays videos as you scroll through apps like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube, often without you even tapping play."
