Real Madrid Target Ajax Wonderkid Abdellah Ouazane as Contract Expires

Morocco World03-06-2025
Doha – Real Madrid have set their sights on 16-year-old Ajax talent Abdellah Ouazane, who is set to become a free agent when his contract expires on June 30.
The Spanish giants have been monitoring the Moroccan youngster for some time and have already initiated contact with the player's representatives.
Born in Amsterdam but representing Morocco at youth level, Ouazane was named the best player at the African U-17 Cup. His performances in the tournament attracted attention from several major European clubs, with Real Madrid now pushing to secure his signature.
The creative midfielder has impressed during his first year at the youth level with Ajax and has already made his debut with the Dutch club's first youth team.
Despite previously playing for the Netherlands U-15 side, Ouazane appears to have chosen to represent Morocco internationally.
According to reports confirmed by Marca, the youngster could join either Real Madrid's youth team or potentially their Castilla reserve side.
Madrid's interest in Ouazane dates back to early last season, but club officials wanted to see how he performed in a major tournament before making their move.
Ouazane is known for his versatility, capable of playing both as an attacking midfielder and in central midfield. He possesses a powerful shot and is skilled at taking free kicks.
The Amsterdam native made his debut for Morocco's U-17 team in October 2024 and has already scored four goals in 13 appearances.
While Madrid's senior team prepares for the upcoming Club World Cup starting June 14, with their first match against Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal scheduled for June 18, the club's directors are working to finalize the acquisition of one of the most promising young talents they have scouted in recent months. Morocco U20 Coach: ‘We're Ready for Anyone'

Morocco's under-20 national team coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, says his side are dreaming big ahead of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, despite being drawn into a daunting group alongside Brazil, Mexico, and Spain. In an interview with Ouahbi was optimistic: 'We have a clear playing identity, tactical discipline, and technical quality,' he said. 'The boys showed real promise in the Africa Cup of Nations, even if the final loss to South Africa was painful.' That defeat, he insists, has forged a mentally tougher team. 'It hurt, but it made us stronger,' he added. Ouahbi praised the growth of several players, notably Chamseddine Talbi and Adam Aznou, who are now training with the senior national team. But he was quick to temper expectations. 'We mustn't put pressure on them. Let them grow at their own pace.' Preparation for the tournament has been meticulous. The squad is currently holding training camps in Morocco for home-based Botola players, before heading to Spain and Argentina for a series of friendlies. 'It's all about getting the group ready for the challenge in Chile,' said Ouahbi. He ended with a call to Moroccan supporters: 'Playing in a World Cup is an honour. It's a chance to raise the national flag high and show what the future of Moroccan football looks like.' The FIFA U20 World Cup, to be held in Chile this year, brings together the world's top youth sides. Morocco will be making only their third appearance, having last qualified in 2005. The tournament, seen as a football fest for emerging talent, has previously launched the careers of global stars like Lionel Messi, Neymar, Vinicius Jr, and Paul Pogba. The Hakimi Play: France's Theatre of Justice

Achraf Hakimi: By any footballing measure, Achraf Hakimi has just had the season of his life. Four trophies with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) – including the club's first UEFA Champions League – 27 goal involvements from right-back, and a tactical mutation under Luis Enrique that saw him playing more winger than a right-back. The Atlas Lion is now hurtling, eyes fixed on football's most gilded prey — the Ballon d'Or. Until, of course, the French justice system decided to butt in. Last Friday, French prosecutors gave the kiss of life to a two-and-a-half-year-old rape case. The timing is suspicious. One could argue it reeks of sabotage to the benefit of none other than Hakimi's PSG teammate – and French international – Ousmane Dembélé. So, let's unpack this murky farce. The Case That Refused to Die On February 27, 2023, the Nanterre prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation into Hakimi. Oddly, no official complaint had been filed. No medical certificate. No physical evidence. Nothing that typically kickstarts such a serious accusation. Yet the judicial gears turned. And just as the Ballon d'Or jury was set to consider its shortlist of nominees, France wants to send the Moroccan star to the criminal court. A Shaky Accusation The case itself is riddled with inconsistencies. Leaked messages between the accuser – dubbed 'Amélie' – and her friend Nadia paint a picture more of premeditated manipulation and financial blackmail than victimhood. Hours before visiting Hakimi's home, Amélie texted 'J'ai le démon mdrr,' while Nadia urged her to go 'mode femme fatale' and 'dépouiller' the player – street slang for robbing someone blind. They even exchanged lyrics from a French rap song about taking risks for financial gain. At 1:15 am, Amélie reportedly texted that she was keen on a sexual encounter. Yet post-incident, she refused to share the full exchange with the police. It was only after detectives grilled her friend that these incriminating messages surfaced, which the accuser had deleted. Hakimi, for his part, has flatly denied any wrongdoing. His lawyer has decried the prosecution's demand for trial as 'insane.' Kylian Mbappé, the most valuable French footballer on Earth, backed his former teammate, stating Hakimi is 'respectful with women' and never exhibited any inappropriate behaviour. The Club des Avocats au Maroc has now stepped in, forming an independent commission to scrutinise the legal circus. Their concerns are about whether French justice is playing fair. So Why Now? Because it's all so perfectly orchestrated. Hakimi's bid for the Ballon d'Or is backed by substance: stats, trophies, records, performances. But France wouldn't dare let a Moroccan lay his hands on the Ballon d'Or in lieu of their golden boy. Hakimi is now cloaked in controversy. Not from new evidence. Not from trial proceedings. But from media noise, carefully timed to stain his image ahead of the Ballon d'Or voting. Hakimi may be facing the match of his life, not on the pitch but in the court of public opinion. In the end, history may judge Hakimi not by the awards he didn't win, but by the smear campaign he survived. And if France thinks it can quietly hand the Ballon d'Or to Dembélé through judicial puppeteering, it may well find the world is watching – and not buying a single word. Chinese Auto Supplier Kuntai to Invest $13.7 Million in Moroccan Factory

Marrakech – Chinese automotive interior materials manufacturer Kuntai has announced plans to establish a production facility in Morocco through its subsidiary Kuntai Hongjing Co Ltd. The project represents a total investment of 100 million RMB (approximately $13.7 million or MAD 126.5 million) and will focus on manufacturing car floor mats and carpets for vehicles. The new Moroccan facility will integrate research and development, production, and sales operations for automotive floor mats. The company will also develop a service network in Europe to meet regional customer needs. This strategic move aims to strengthen Kuntai's international development strategy and reinforce its presence in the European market. The project will be implemented in phases, with deployment depending on market evolution and operational progress. It will be financed through the company's own funds without significant debt. The Moroccan factory follows Kuntai's international expansion roadmap, which already includes a production site in Mexico established in 2024 that serves the North American market. Kuntai specializes in tufted and non-woven carpets for the automotive industry. The company supplies Chinese manufacturers like BYD, Xiaomi Auto, Li Auto, and NIO, as well as European (Audi, Volvo, Land Rover, BMW), Japanese (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan), and American (General Motors, Tesla) automakers. Its product range includes floor mats, wheel covers, spare wheel covers, engine protection plates, and seat back covers. In the first quarter of 2025, Kuntai recorded revenue of $178.6 million and a net profit of $900,000. The Moroccan investment represents less than one quarter of its revenue but constitutes a strategic development axis targeting the European market. Morocco's geographic proximity to European markets like France and Spain, combined with free trade agreements with the European Union, provides far-reaching advantages. Products exported from Morocco benefit from duty-free access, which Kuntai notes 'significantly reduces arrival costs and neutralizes the effects of anti-dumping measures.' Maritime transport from Morocco reduces shipping distance to Europe by 80% compared to exports from China and cuts logistics costs by more than 60%, according to internal data cited in the company's announcement. Additionally, Morocco's lower labor costs compared to European countries contribute to product competitiveness, while the local regulatory framework offers incentives for foreign investors. According to Kuntai's 2024 annual report, international sales represented only 10.95% of revenue, with the Chinese domestic market accounting for 89.05%. The Moroccan facility will help rebalance production between China, Mexico, and Morocco, with each covering a major geographic region of the automotive market. The global automotive carpet market is valued between $166 billion and $189 billion. North America represents approximately $41 billion of this market, while Europe accounts for about $24 billion. Kuntai aims to capture a share of these markets through its two new factories. The company also reports expected profitability improvements, stating that the export gross margin rate reaches 35.05%, compared to 25.55% in the domestic market. Kuntai anticipates that Moroccan production will significantly improve the group's overall profitability while enhancing delivery times and product diversity.
