COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — U.S. and Ohio flags will be flown at half-staff in Columbus and Hamilton County in memory of a Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty late last week.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine issued the order Sunday, stating the flags on all public buildings and grounds in Hamilton County, the Ohio Statehouse, the Vern Riffe Center, and the Rhodes State Office Tower will remain at half-staff following Sunday's National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
DeWine issued the order in memory of Deputy Larry Henderson, who was struck and killed Friday, allegedly driven by the father of a teenager shot and killed by Cincinnati police the day before.

In a social media post Sunday, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office identified Henderson as the victim in Friday's crash for the first time, saying he was a 33-year veteran of the department.
'In Deputy Henderson's early tenure as a Sheriff's Deputy, I recognized his talent for teaching and presentation,' Henderson County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey said in the post. 'Larry began his journey as a Sheriff's Office trainer early in his career. He developed an expertise and became an excellent trainer. Subsequently, he trained divisions of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office that included hundreds of deputy sheriffs. His ability to relate to and touch officers' lives was extraordinary. We will continue to honor Larry's life of service.'
Flags will remain at half staff until the day of Henderson's funeral.
All public buildings and grounds across Ohio may fly the flags at half-staff at their discretion.

Girlfriend of Pennsylvania Dentist Who Killed Wife on Safari Breaks Her Silence from Jail in New Interview

Lori Milliron maintains her innocence regarding the 2016 death of Bianca Rudolph The girlfriend of Larry Rudolph, the Pennsylvania dentist convicted of killing his wife while they were on safari in Zambia, has broken her silence from prison. Lori Milliron began an affair with Larry in 2002, and she was ultimately convicted for her involvement in the 2016 shooting death of his wife of 34 years, Bianca Rudolph. At the time, prosecutors argued that Milliron gave Larry an ultimatum that he needed to choose between her or his wife, and that she also knew about his crime while they continued to date after the murder. Millron is currently serving a 17-year sentence for perjury and being an accessory to a murder after the fact, as well as obstructing a grand jury. Now, in Hulu's new three-part docuseries about the case, Trophy Wife: Murder on Safari, Milliron maintains that she had no involvement in the crime. 'There was no ultimatum. Why would I wait 15 years to give him an ultimatum? It just didn't make sense," Milliron said over a prison phone, according to video shared by Inside Edition. 'The police did an investigation, and they said it was an accident. Everyone believed it was an accident. So I assumed it was an accident as well,' she added. In another part of the series, Milliron said she never planned on becoming romantically involved with Larry when they first met as coworkers at his dental practice. 'I was reluctant, but after a little while, I slowly, slowly got to know him,' she said, explaining that she eventually became 'the girlfriend' despite the fact that he was married. While Bianca's death was initially declared an accident by Zambia law enforcement, federal authorities in the U.S. were not convinced and ultimately accused Larry of killing his wife so he could collect millions of dollars in life insurance benefits. He was eventually sentenced to life in prison in 2023 on charges of foreign murder and mail fraud. During his trial, which took place in July 2022, Larry told jurors, 'I did not kill my wife. I could not murder my wife. I would not murder my wife.' However, a witness for the prosecution testified that he had overheard Larry making statements that indicated otherwise. According to Brian Lovelace, a bartender at a Phoenix steakhouse that Larry and Milliron frequented, he heard the dentist confess to the crime during a heated argument. 'Larry and Lori were having a drink," federal prosecutor Bishop Grewell said during opening statements. 'The music in the background made it difficult for Brian Lovelace to hear the conversation going on around him, but at some point, all of a sudden, the music stopped. And in that brief interlude, that brief silence between the songs, Larry Rudolph growled, 'I killed my f------ wife for you!' ' Both Milliron and Larry continue to maintain their innocence and are currently appealing their convictions. Trophy Wife: Murder on Safari premiered on July 21 and airs weekly. Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore says 'no more flag planting' for Wolverines

Michigan football will no longer plant or run on field with team flag after games The vitriol between Ohio State and Michigan may have never been at a higher level than what it is today, and that's saying a lot since Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler had it at the nuclear level during the "ten-year war." The Wolverines beat the Buckeyes for the fourth-straight time last season, and after the game, men with grudges and axes to grind met at midfield when Michigan tried to plant a Block M flag in the middle of the field inside the 'Shoe. That was after the Buckeye players allowed the same to happen after a 2022 win by the maize and blue. And, might I add, that team heard about it from former players and from fans alike on allowing that to happen on the banks of the Olentangy. So, that wasn't about to happen again, and instead, tempers got the best of both sides. The Michigan flag was ripped off its pole by Jack Sawyer, pepper spray was used by Columbus's finest, and both teams were fined $100,000 for their part in the postgame Donnybrook that ensued. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore addressed the incident immediately following the game, calling for both sides to be better going forward, and has decided to take it further after being asked about it at Big Ten media days. He is putting a stop to flag planting as we know it. 'We definitely addressed it. There'll be no more flag planting. There'll be no more grabbing the flag," Moore said. "Our new tradition -- what we do when we win a game -- it's go meet the band, go sing our Victors, and stay over there until after the other team departs. That's how we'll operate. Shake hands after the game, show sportsmanship, be cordial. A lot of guys in college football know each other. All these guys, they're kids. At the end of the day, they're 17 to 22-year-old kids, and most of them are friends. A lot of them talk before the game. So let them have that, but then as a team, go be together as a team and leave as a team.' This is a good move and one that college football should adopt going forward. Rivalries are great and there's always going to be some tempers that flare, but creating a situation that can instigate further emotional responses don't need to be a part of the game. Sportsmanship can say a lot about the culture of a coach, player, and team, and sometimes that has to be displayed in winning and losing. Let's hope that it's Ohio State that has to refrain from doing unsportsmanlike things after beating Michigan and putting an end to the four-game skid the program has against That Team Up North.
