Dassanayake back as US head coach
Dassanayake, who succeeds former Australia batsman Stuart Law in the role, previously coached the side between 2016-2019 when they earned their One Day International (ODI) status.
"I'm proud of what we accomplished during my previous time here, and I see tremendous potential in this group to reach even greater heights," the former Nepal and Canada coach said in a USA Cricket statement.
"I look forward to working closely with the players and staff to continue building something meaningful for USA Cricket."
The U.S. co-hosted the Twenty20 World Cup with West Indies last year, stunning heavyweights Pakistan and making the Super Eight stage of the tournament.
"Pubudu is joining the organization at a pivotal time," USA Cricket Chief Executive Johnathan Atkeison said.
"Following the momentum of 2024, we are now focused on strong performances at the 2026 T20 World Cup and qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup."
"With his experience and vision, we believe Pubudu can help us achieve these goals."

India had planned to limit Bumrah's workload after the pacer had back surgery early this year, and he was due to be available for only one of the remaining two tests. England lead the five-match series 2-1.

Venus Williams prioritising fun as she returns after 16-month absence
Former world number one Venus Williams said she was embracing the challenge and joy of tennis after a difficult year marked by health concerns and time away from the court as the 45-year-old prepares for her return at the Washington Open on Monday. The seven-time Grand Slam champion declined wildcard entries into the tournament in the nation's capital in the past but said she felt up to the challenge this year. "Most of the time I don't (take up the offer to play as a wildcard)," she said with a laugh on Sunday. "But this time I had been hitting the ball. Williams is setting new personal goals, prioritising enjoyment over results. "My personal goal is to have fun and enjoy the moment, not put too much pressure on myself," she said. "I don't know if I define success at this moment in any sort of way other than believing in myself and sticking to my process. That's not easy to do, especially after a layoff. So those are my goals." Williams has won the Wimbledon singles title five times and the U.S. Open twice, as well as 14 Grand Slam women's doubles titles alongside her younger sister Serena. She has not competed since the Miami Open in March 2024 and has not won a match since defeating Russia's Veronika Kudermetova in the first round of the Cincinnati Open in August 2023. She faces fellow American Peyton Stearns in the first round of the WTA 500 tournament on Monday. Reflecting on her future in the sport, she remained characteristically private. "I think I know what I want to do, but I don't always want to talk about it," she said. "I'm just here for now, and who knows? Maybe there's more. ECB to host next three World Test Championship finals till 2031, ICC says
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will continue to host the biennial final of the World Test Championship for the next three editions till 2031, global governing body ICC said on Sunday. The match, which crowns the world champions in the longest format of the sport, has been held in England since it was introduced, with Southampton hosting the first edition in 2021 and the two subsequent finals taking place in London. 'We are absolutely delighted that England and Wales has been chosen to host the next three ICC World Test Championship finals," the ECB chief executive Richard Gould said. "It's a testament to the passion that fans in this country have for this treasured format of the game and the willingness of supporters from around the world to travel here for these games." The 2025 final at Lord's, where South Africa beat defending champions Australia, was attended by 109,227 people over four days and received 225 million digital views, the ICC said in a statement last month.
