Rodgers, who is aiming to become the first Hoops boss in history to win three Trebles, is approaching the final 12 months of a three-year deal.
The Northern Irishman has insisted he is '200 per cent' certain to be in charge for the entire 2025-26 campaign.
But Celts legend Hartson, 50, said: 'Brendan's come back, he'll certainly do the three years at the club with the contract that he signed.
'I think one million per cent he's in for next year.
'The issue you've got is the whole year Brendan will be asked, 'Are you staying? Or are you going?'.
'He doesn't want that to affect the team.
'Brendan will be linked with big moves to Italy, Spain or wherever.
'But for everyone's sake, there needs to come a time at some stage next season where he comes out and tells people about his future.
'Because if he waits until the end of the season, everything is going to be dominated by what Rodgers is doing.
'Whether he does that, the club might want that as well. Let everyone know so they can start preparing.
Steve Evans reveals his 'brilliant' friendship with Brendan Rodgers and his feud with another Celtic hero
'In an ideal world, he'd stay. And hopefully he'd stay for plenty more years.
'He seems very happy at Celtic. He's come back and he's won trophies again.
'He's got a tough game against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final, of course.
'But Brendan hoovers up trophies. That's what he does.
'He does what it says on the can. He's a winner.'
Hartson is a big fan of £9million frontman Adam Idah — and sympathises with the former Norwich City star over talk that he's not worth his transfer fee.
The Republic of Ireland international has hit 18 goals this season, including last Sunday's strike against Rangers to earn a 1-1 draw at Ibrox.
Overall, including an initial loan spell last season, Idah has netted 27 goals in 68 games, one of which was the last-gasp winner in last year's Scottish Cup final victory over Gers.
Not every Hoops fan is convinced by the 24-year-old — though Hartson is.

He added: 'I've always been a fan of Idah.
'When he first came up, he scored nine goals between the start of his loan deal and when it ended.
'Idah is powerful, runs in behind and nine goals was a very good return.
'He definitely played his part in helping Celtic because Rangers were in it for long periods, weren't they?
'Then they went to Ross County, got beat. Then there was the Dundee game.
'Idah came on really well last season.
'That loan period would have forced Celtic's hand to go and get him.
'I'm sure they would have had one or two other options.
'But because of his potential, and the way that he came in and did very well, scoring goals, that's the reason why Celtic paid the money for him.
'Remember, as well, he's been in and out of the side. He hasn't really been a regular.
'He was competing with Kyogo Furuhashi, who for me was world class. Then he moved to France.
'He had games while Kyogo was there as well.
'But when Kyogo went they moved Daizen Maeda through the middle, and he has been exceptional in the role.
'Last weekend at Ibrox, Idah came up with a big goal, a great turn and shot.
'He's still a young boy, and what you've got to remember is before he came to Celtic he was a sub for Norwich, he wasn't in their first team.
'So he came up to Celtic as they reckoned they could do with a centre-forward. Somebody with a bit of presence and who was a totally different player to Kyogo.
'Idah came up and I thought he did exceptionally well, but now he's got to live up to that £9m price tag, which he's been doing.

'He's come back with 18 goals this season and he'll get better and better.'
Hoops icon Hartson recalls how he had to deal with a big price tag weighing down heavily on him when he signed on at Parkhead.
Especially after he didn't find the net in his first ten games for the club following his £6m switch from Coventry City back in 2001.
But once Hartson finally broke his duck, he couldn't stop scoring over his five years in Paradise.
He's convinced Idah will thrive on being the main man in Rodgers' attack next season — if he gets that chance.
Hartson said: 'I've got to say, you play no part in the fee. It's like Arne Engels.
'For me, Idah's more than paid that price tag back. It's £9m, no disrespect, that's a lot of money.
'But £9m for a top striker is a snip really given what forwards are going for now.
'Idah's got massive potential, playing for his country, scoring for the Republic of Ireland.
'I'm a fan, and I believe he can get even better.
'But what Idah's already done, he's scored nearly 30 goals — 18 this season and nine last year — in the short period that he's been here.
'He's got many attributes and he'll do very well.
'If Celtic had paid £3m for him, people wouldn't mention the price tag.'

AEK Athens eye Cyriel Dessers transfer alternative as Rangers Champions League foes leave £7.5m man behind
AEK had been keen on Dessers but now appear to have turned their attensions elsewhere AEK Athens appear to have given up on signing Cyriel Dessers as they close in on a deal for ex Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic. The Rangers frontman had plenty of interest this summer despite mixed reviews from his two seasons at Ibrox and Russell Martin claimed after their draw with Motherwell at the weekend that Dessers was the only player they have received a formal bid for this summer. That is widely thought to have been from Athens where AEK had been very keen to take him to Greece. But after Martin talked Dessers up as the shining example to other players who haven't shown the same commitment to the cause, it now appears AEK are looking elsewhere. Marca report they are closing in on a free transfer for Jovic, who left AC Milan earlier this summer. The 27-year-old was once a £60m signing for Real Madrid after impressing with Eintracht Frankfurt but recent years haven't gone to plan – he struggled for minutes last season and scored just four goals. Now AEK appear to have won the race which would effectively close the door on a move for Dessers. On the Nigerian, boss Martin said over the weekend: "I said to some of the guys in there, Cyriel is the only one we have actually had a bid for and interest in. And he comes on and he runs so hard, on Wednesday night and today. "Some of them need to have a look at him and set that example. Meanwhile Viktoria Plzen will be without key midfielder Pavel Sulc for their clash with Rangers as he gets set to seal a move to Lyon. Sulc has scored 47 times in 167 appearances for the Czech side and is widely viewed as their best player – pinpointed as one of the danger men ahead of the two-leg third qualifying round tie with the Ibrox side. But he's set to seal a £7.5m move to Lyon and Plzen have confirmed he hasn't travelled to Glasgow. A curt statement from the club reads: "Midfielder Pavel Sulc will no longer be on board the flight (to Glasgow), as his transfer abroad is being finalised." Should Rangers get past the Czechs, they learned today it will be Club Brugge or Red Bull Salzburg standing between them and the lucrative league phase of the competition. They host Plzen at Ibrox in the first leg tomorrow night and the deadline for squad registration for that tie is tonight. It's understood Oliver Antman could be announced on Monday which would tee up a race against time to get the new striker registered. Winger Mikey Moore, who arrived from Tottenham last week, could also be involved.

'Here we go': Rangers transfer impact after club 'strikes deal' for 10-goal striker

A potential move for Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers to AEK Athens has been thrown into further doubt after it was revealed that the Greek side are close to finalising a deal for AC Milan forward Luka Jović. The Nigerian forward has been heavily linked with a move to the Super League giants throughout the summer, with reports indicating that the 30-year-old had 'verbally agreed' on personal terms on a move to OPAP Arena, though the switch hit a snag when the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement over the player's valuation. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers. | SNS Group Rangers head coach Russell Martin spoke openly about Dessers' future during his scathing post-match interview after the 1-1 draw against Motherwell at the weekend, saying: 'Cyriel is the only one that we've actually had a bid for, and he comes on and he runs so hard,' following their opening day draw. 'He's not ready to start because he had an injury and he's trained late, and then he comes on for two games and runs like a beast and gets on with it because he's a good professional, a good human being.' Despite praise from his head coach, links to a summer departure have continued to cloud the striker's start to the campaign. However, the impending arrival of Jović could now have a knock-on effect regarding AEK Athens' pursuit of Dessers, with his departure from Rangers surely in doubt once the AC Milan ace rubber stamps his move to the Greek Super League. The addition of the Serbian international, who has scored 10 goals for his country, means Énosi could now call on any of Aboubakary Koïta, Anthony Martial, Zini or Jović in their forward line, potentially throwing their pursuit of the Rangers number nine into serious doubt. According to a report from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, 27-year-old Jović is set to sign a deal in the Greek capital until 2027, with Marko Nikolić's side fighting off competition from Real Oviedo for the Serbian international over the weekend. He is expected in Athens soon to finalise the move. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The Scottish Premiership's top scorer last season with 18 goals, Dessers has endured a turbulent two-year stint at Ibrox following his move from Cremonese in the summer of 2023. Despite scoring over 50 goals for the club, his time at Rangers has polarised fans, who have oscillated between praise and frustration, leading to debates about whether the club should opt to sell Dessers this summer, and reinvest in the squad, and AEK Athens' subsequent interest.

Dundee United and Hibs learn Conference League play-off path
Dundee United and Hibs have learned who they could potentially face in the play-off round of the Conference League. UEFA conducted the draw for the Conference League play-offs in Nyon on Monday afternoon, laying out the possible path to the September group stages for both clubs. Hibernian must overcome Partizan Belgrade to be involved in the play-off round, and if they get there, they will face either AEK Larnaca or Legia Warszawa. Dundee United meet Rapid Vienna next, with the first leg on Thursday, and if they overcome that hurdle, will take on the winner of AIK Stockholm vs ETO FC Gyor. Should the sides progress, they could be joined by Aberdeen in the Conference group stage, who learned their opponents for the play-off round for the Europa League earlier on Monday. If they lose, they will drop down to the Conference League. They will take on either Romanian side FCSB or Kosovan side FC Drita, with Aberdeen playing the first leg at Pittodrie on August 21, with the return match a week later. Celtic and Rangers also learned their potential path to the Champions League. Celtic went into the seeded Champions Path side of the draw, and will play either Kairat or Slovan Bratislava. If Rangers can defeat Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen in the third round, they will face the winner of RB Salzburg v Club Brugge for a place in the Champions League. The losers of the ties will drop into the Europa League at the league phase stage.
