Best affordable wearable blanket: Amazon Australia hoodie that rivals The Oodie brand

If you've been eyeing off an Oodie but can't bring yourself to drop $100-plus on what's essentially a giant jumper, you're not alone. That's where Amazon's top-rated YESDEX Wearable Blanket Hoodie comes in and it's just gone on sale for under $35. This oversized hoodie-blanket hybrid is made from plush flannel on the outside and soft lamb wool on the inside, giving you double the warmth without suffocating your bank account. Originally priced at $39, it's now marked down by 15 per cent to just $33.99, but the deal won't last forever. What sets this wearable blanket apart is its one-size-fits-most design that genuinely delivers. Whether you're curled up on the couch, taking your dog out on a frosty morning or braving a windy beach picnic, this snuggly layer is made to move with you. The giant front pocket is basically the Mary Poppins bag of winter fashion, roomy enough for your phone, snacks, the TV remote, and maybe even your cat (not recommended). There's also a plush oversized hood, which doubles as a neck pillow if you accidentally nod off mid-Netflix binge. It's not just for homebodies, either. Fans say it's perfect for camping trips, bonfire nights, sports sidelines and even the school run. Thanks to its generous cut, you can wear it over PJs, leggings, tracksuits, even thermals if things really get icy. If you're worried about cleaning it, don't be. This blanket hoodie is machine washable and holds its shape and softness after every cycle. No ironing, no fancy dry cleaning, and definitely no tears if someone spills cocoa on it. And in true Amazon fashion, it comes with a 365-day warranty, so if anything goes wrong, whether it's a dodgy seam or something more serious, you're covered. Just head to the 'Get Help With Order' section and their customer service team will sort it within 24 hours. Available in a range of colours and prints, from classic neutrals to bold bights, and prices ranging between $33 to $46.99 there's one to suit every member of the household. Yes, even your partner who 'doesn't get cold' but keeps stealing yours. At this price, maybe get two.

Brisbane news live: Budget day arrives with blanket of fog

Go to latest State budget day dawns, with promises of no austerity Happy Queensland State Budget Day to all who celebrate. Treasurer David Janetzki is due to hand down the LNP's first budget in 11 years at 2pm today, and the Crisafulli government has been at pains to allay public service fears of cut-and-burn austerity. The public service could perhaps be forgiven for feeling a little wary this morning – the last time an LNP government came into power, 14,000 of them found themselves without a job. Premier David Crisafulli, though, has stressed such austerity is not on the agenda this time around, saying yesterday what he described as the youth crime, housing and health crises would not be fixed by reducing the public service. Crisafulli has already telegraphed a record infrastructure spend, turbocharged in part by the coming Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In January, Janetzki delivered Queensland's Mid-Year Fiscal and Economic Review, which he repeatedly referred to as 'Labor's last budget update'. Whatever appears in the budget papers, from today the state of the Queensland budget lies firmly with the LNP. 7.30am First home buyers get help to buy in LNP budget By Felicity Caldwell Queenslanders will get help from the state government to buy a home worth up to $1 million under a shared equity scheme. Loading The $165 million scheme, to be announced in the Crisafulli government's first budget today, will be open to singles earning up to $150,000 and households with two adults earning up to $225,000 buying their first home. For new builds, the government will invest up to 30 per cent equity, and 25 per cent for existing homes. The announcement was revealed in today's Courier-Mail. 7.23am State budget day dawns, with promises of no austerity By Cameron Atfield Happy Queensland State Budget Day to all who celebrate. And so it seems today, with a relatively warm 24 degrees forecast today. There's a medium chance of showers in the River City, with a few millimetres expected. But today's warmth should not hang around – after tomorrow, the daily maximums look set to drop back to the low 20s.
