They were remanded in judicial custody.
Last week, NIA arrested the three for allegedly aiding Naseer and others in different capacities. While Nagaraj is accused of supplying mobile phones and sim cards to Naseer and others, Pasha is charged with providing police security to Naseer and others in prison while the latter carried out terror activities. The third accused, Fathima, was arrested for allegedly providing monetary help and other assistance to the inmates.
"Fathima was rushed to hospital Sunday after claiming to have consumed toilet cleaner. Doctors washed her stomach and found no traces of the cleaner. However, there were some traces of the toilet cleaner in her mouth," sources said.

Delhi court reserves order on Engineer Rashid's plea to attend Parliament

A Delhi court Tuesday reserved its order on an interim bail plea by Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid for attending the monsoon session of Parliament starting July 21. Rashid, who defeated National Conference leader Omar Abdullah in the Baramulla seat by over two lakh votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, has been lodged in Tihar jail since 2019 in a 2017 terror funding case. Represented by advocates Aditya Wadhwa, Vikhyat Oberoi and Nishita Gupta, Rashid argued in court that he should either be granted interim bail or permission to attend Parliament in custody, without payment of travel costs. The lawyers also argued that Rashid had been granted interim bail in September last year for campaigning for the elections and since this bail had been extended thrice, he could not be considered a security threat. Opposing his plea, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) argued that Rashid should not be granted bail and if he is allowed to attend Parliament in custody, then he should be made to pay the travel expenses. Rashid's lawyers argued that he shouldn't be made to pay travel expenses as he was seeking to attend Parliament as his public duty and not for some personal work. After hearing the arguments from both sides, Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh reserved the order for July 21. Earlier this year, the Delhi High Court had allowed Rashid to attend Parliament on two occasions – on March 10 and February 25. The MP was arrested on August 9, 2019, four days after the abrogation of Article 370 and the removal of J&K's special status. According to the NIA, Rashid used various public platforms to 'propagate the ideology of separatism and secessionism', and was closely associated with various terrorist organisations. The agency had also alleged that he wanted to 'legitimise' the United Jihad Council (UJC), a platform of anti-India militant groups in J&K. According to the NIA, Rashid's name cropped up during the interrogation of businessman and co-accused Zahoor Watali. After being chargesheeted in October 2019, a special NIA court framed charges against Rashid and others in March 2022 under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging war against the government), and 124A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code and for offences relating to terrorist acts and terror funding under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Teacher booked for telling students to ‘light lampof knowledge instead of going on kanwar yatra'

Bareilly: A govt school teacher in UP's Bareilly was slapped with a case on Tuesday for "promoting enmity" after he was seen in a video purportedly reciting an "objectionable poem referring to kanwar yatra" in front of students during their assembly prayer. In the clip, he could be heard saying, "Light the lamp of knowledge instead of going on kanwar yatra". Police said an FIR was registered against teacher Rajneesh Gangwar under BNS section 353-2 (public mischief with intent to promote enmity, hatred or ill-will between different groups) following a complaint by a local right-wing activist Shakti Gupta. In the police complaint, Gupta accused Gangwar of "hurting religious sentiments by reciting an objectionable verse from a poem to students at Bareilly's MGM Inter College". Baheri circle officer Arun Kumar said, "The teacher has not been arrested yet as the section imposed against him has a punishment of three years in jail. Police, as per the norms, can't arrest anyone accused of an offence that provides for seven or fewer years of imprisonment. Investigation is on and further action will be taken accordingly." In the 26-second clip, part of a five-minute video, the teacher -- after making a purported remark on the yatra -- could be heard urging the students to "serve humanity and become true humans..." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dukung Orang Terkasih Menghadapi Limfoma: Mulai Di Sini Limfoma Pelajari Undo The video was widely circulated online, with many calling it "disrespectful towards a religious tradition". "During a school activity, I read a poem to students. There was nothing wrong with it. For some time now, there has been a conspiracy against me within the school. About a year-and-a-half ago, there was an attempt to file an FIR against me, accusing me of assaulting students. When nothing was found then, a 26-second clip was improperly edited now to create a false narrative against me," the accused teacher told TOI on Tuesday. Meanwhile, school principal Ashok Kumar Gangwar said the teacher read the poem on Saturday, and a "clarification has been sought from him". The ongoing kanwar yatra is scheduled to conclude on July 23.

7.3cr fraud: Man who gave docus to open mule a/c held

1 2 Mumbai: A Chembur resident was recently arrested by south region cyber police in a Rs 7.3-crore investment fraud case for allegedly allowing his address to be used to open a bank account for a shell company to which part of the money was diverted. The victim, a 63-year-old south Mumbai businessman, was shown profits of Rs 31 crore in a virtual wallet. Police said the fraudsters asked the suspect, Rahul Gawli (41), to visit Goa, where they opened a bank account in a fake company's name and used his and another accused's documents for it. Gawli was assured of a monthly pay in exchange. The gang operated the company's account, to which the complainant sent Rs 5 lakh. The complainant lodged a police complaint on May 17 stating that he was added to a WhatsApp group through a link in Feb. A woman, Riya Bansal, and some other gang members pretended to be representatives of a private company that manages the portfolios of investors. In a WhatsApp message, Bansal told the businessman that they would invest his money in the primary market and that he would stand to earn huge profits.
