Jury reaches verdict on 4 of 5 counts in Diddy trial, will keep deliberating
US District Judge Arun Subramanian said the jury had informed him in a note toward the end of its second day of deliberations that it had reached a verdict on the two counts each of sex trafficking and transport to engage in prostitution that Combs faces, but had not been able to reach a verdict on racketeering conspiracy.
Subramanian did not say what the jurors' verdict on the four counts was. He said he would instruct the jury to continue deliberating on the racketeering conspiracy count.
As to racketeering, Subramanian said the jury note read: 'We have jurors with unpersuadable opinions on both sides.'
Combs, 55, had pleaded not guilty to all five counts.
Before Subramanian read the jury's note, Combs rubbed his eyes and rested his face against his palm while seated at the defence table with his lawyers huddled around him.

Indonesian can leave Hong Kong pending decision to drop fallen tumbler case: court
A Hong Kong court has allowed an Indonesian tourist to return home while awaiting authorities' decision on whether to continue with his prosecution over a fallen tumbler that hit another visitor at The Peak. Merchant Satnauli Bangun, 44, was not required to enter a plea on a count of allowing an object to fall from a height when he first appeared at Eastern Court on Friday. Court prosecutor Jennifer Cheung Toi-ling said the Department of Justice needed time to decide whether to press on with prosecution, having reviewed CCTV footage of the incident that occurred on Wednesday. Magistrate Kestrel Lam Tsz-hong scheduled the next hearing for August 1 and noted that the defendant had to be present in court even if the prosecution decided to drop the charge. Police arrested Bangun after a mainland Chinese woman claimed she had been hit in the head by an unknown object at The Peak Tower on Wednesday. The force said the accused, who was sightseeing on the floor above, had put his backpack on a fence, but his tumbler fell out from a side pocket.

Mexican ex-world champion boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr arrested by US immigration
Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr has been arrested by US immigration officers and faces deportation from the United States, the US Department of Homeland Security said Thursday. Chavez, a former world champion and the son of legendary Mexican fighter Julio Cesar Chavez, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Los Angeles on Wednesday after authorities determined that he was in the country illegally, Homeland Security said in a statement. Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, said the 39-year-old fighter has 'an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organised crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition and explosives'. The Mexican public prosecutor's office said in a statement later on Thursday that Mexico had issued an arrest warrant for Chavez in 2023 'for organised crime and arms trafficking'. US authorities informed Mexico that they have begun the procedure to send him home, it added. Homeland Security said Chavez is believed to have ties to the Sinaloa cartel, one of six Mexican drug trafficking groups designated as terrorist organisations by the United States. Michael Madsen, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill star, dies at 67
Michael Madsen, whose menacing characters in Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill made him a stand-out in Quentin Tarantino's films, has died. He was 67. Madsen was found unresponsive in his home in Malibu, California, on Thursday morning and pronounced dead, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Watch Commander Christopher Jauregui said. He is believed to have died of natural causes and authorities do not suspect any foul play was involved. Madsen's manager Ron Smith said cardiac arrest was the apparent cause. Madsen's career spanned more than 300 credits stretching back to the early 1980s, many in low-budget films. But his most memorable screen moment may have been the sadistic torture of a captured police officer – while dancing to Stealers Wheel's 'Stuck in the Middle with You' – as Mr Blonde in 1992's Reservoir Dogs. He would become a Tarantino regular, appearing in the Kill Bill films and The Hateful Eight.
