'Narivetta' OTT release: When and where to watch Tovino Thomas' intense drama movie

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Missed 'Narivetta' during its theatrical run? You're not alone — and now there's good news. The film, which hit cinemas on May 23, 2025, is finally heading to OTT. Starting July 11, Narivetta will be available to stream on SonyLIV. Echoes of truth, shadows of injustice! The announcement was made on SonyLIV's official social media page, with the caption: 'Echoes of truth, shadows of injustice! Watch Narivetta from July 11 only on SonyLIV.' Set against the backdrop of the Muthanga Incident of 2003, Narivetta tells the story of Peter Varghese, a sincere police constable who is transferred to a remote tribal region in Kerala. What starts off as just another assignment soon shakes him to his core. As Peter gets to know the people in the area, he begins to see how deeply they are affected by systemic neglect and injustice. When the government decides to forcefully remove them from their land, Peter is left with a tough choice—obey orders or stand by the tribal community. A strong cast with a stronger message Tovino Thomas plays the lead character in this crime drama backed by a talented ensemble cast, including: Suraj Venjaramoodu Cheran (in his first Malayalam film) Arya Salim Pranav Teophine Priyamvada Krishnan Prasanth Madhavan Rini Udayakumar Nandhu Don't miss it Narivetta - Official Trailer If you're drawn to films that are thought-provoking and rooted in real events, Narivetta is definitely worth a watch. It's not just a movie—it's a reflection of real struggles and choices that continue to echo in our society. ETimes review for the film reads, "Cinematographer Vijay has created a visual experience that is definitely big screen. And Jakes Bejoy has been killing it with his music. Arya Salim needs a special mention for her excellent portrayal of a tribal leader and for bringing to mind CK Janu. It is heartening to see that contentious political issues are being tackled through our films. In that sense, Narivetta is a brave, bold attempt. Amid all our entertainers, we periodically need cinema that shakes up the status quo and makes a new generation think."

'Kannappa' box office collection day 6: Vishnu Manchu's mythological drama witnesses a dip; earns Rs 27.5 crore

Picture Credit: X Vishnu Manchu starrer mythological drama 'Kannappa' continues its theatrical run with modest numbers as it enters the midweek phase. Released on June 27, the film features a star-studded cast that includes cameo appearances by some of Indian cinema's biggest names, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal. However, after a promising opening weekend, the film has seen a gradual dip in collections. According to trade tracking portal Sacnilk, 'Kannappa' earned an estimated Rs 1.15 crore on Day 6, Wednesday, the lowest single-day collection so far for the film. With this, the total collection now stands at approximately Rs 27.5 crore. The film had a powerful start at the box office, raking in Rs 9.35 crore on its opening Friday, followed by Rs 7.15 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.9 crore on Sunday. However, as is often the case with most theatrical releases, weekday earnings saw a dip, Rs 2.3 crore on Monday and Rs 1.8 crore on Tuesday. Theatre occupancy In terms of occupancy, the Telugu version, unsurprisingly the most dominant contributor to the film's revenue, recorded an overall occupancy of 12.54% on Wednesday, July 2. The breakdown shows morning shows at 11.44%, afternoon at 12.37%, evening at 13.68%, and night shows closing at 12.68%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like O que é ar-condicionado sem dutos no Brasil? Knowledge Knower Undo The Hindi version, however, reflected a more subdued response. The film saw an overall occupancy of 6.84% in Hindi belts. Morning shows were the lowest at 3.78%, with a gradual increase through the day, 6.86% in the afternoon, 6.71% in the evening, and peaking at 10.01% during the night shows. While not a major contributor, the Hindi version has managed to hold its ground in select pockets. About the film Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, 'Kannappa' is a mythological epic that tells the story of Thinnadu, a fearless warrior who, from being an atheist, ultimately becomes a faithful devotee of Lord Shiva. It also features Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Preity Mukhundhan, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmaji, Brahmanandam, and others. Etimes review for the film reads, "Kannappa scores high on visual and musical impact. Sheldon Chau's cinematography captures the beauty of forested landscapes and celestial moments with finesse, giving the film a rich visual texture. Some of the VFX elements fall short of the film's ambition, but the overall sincerity of the production shines through." The pan-India film has been released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Despite the star power and grand scale, 'Kannappa' faced significant challenges from piracy soon after its release. Within days, over 30,000 illegal online links distributing pirated versions of the film were identified and taken down by the team. Vishnu Manchu publicly condemned piracy, urging fans not to watch or share pirated content and to support cinema through legal means. He wrote, "Piracy is theft — plain and simple. We don't teach our children to steal. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don't encourage it. Support cinema the right way."
