The Indian electric two-wheeler startup, Matter, has launched a lifetime warranty for the battery of its electric motorcycle, the Matter Aera. The company asserts that this is the first instance of such a warranty being provided in India's electric two-wheeler market. This initiative aims to address the second most significant concern for electric vehicle owners—battery longevity and the costs associated with battery replacement.
The battery, which represents the most costly component of an electric vehicle, will be guaranteed for the entire lifespan of the Aera. Generally, electric vehicle batteries are accompanied by warranties that last between three to eight years. A lifetime warranty represents a substantial shift from this norm and could influence how riders assess the long-term ownership costs.

"Has His Reasons": Shashi Tharoor On Rahul Gandhi's "Dead Economy" Remark

Mumbai: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Saturday refused to comment on party leader Rahul Gandhi's endorsing US President Donald Trump's 'dead economy' remark about India and said the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha may have had his "own reasons" for saying so. The remarks came after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday agreed with US President Donald Trump's statement that the Indian economy is "dead" and said he is "glad" that the US President has stated a fact. Speaking to the mediapersons, Tharoor said, "I don't want to comment on what my party leader has said. He has his reasons for saying so. My concern is that our relationship with the US, as a strategic and economic partnership, is important for us. We are exporting around 90 billion worth of goods to America. We can't be in a position to lose that or have it diminish significantly." "We must wish our negotiators strength to get a fair deal for India. We should also be talking to other regions for exporting our goods. Then we could make up for some of what we might lose in the US. We have to support our negotiators," he added. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday agreed with US President Donald Trump's statement that the Indian economy is "dead" and said he is "glad" that the US President has stated a fact. Speaking to reporters, Rahul Gandhi said that the whole world knows the Indian economy is "dead" except for the Prime Minister and Finance Minister. "Yes, he is right. Everybody knows this except the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. Everybody knows that the Indian economy is a dead economy. I am glad that President Trump has stated a fact. The entire world knows that the Indian economy is a dead economy. BJP has finished the economy to help Adani," Rahul Gandhi said. On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump made a shocking statement on his social media platform Truth Social after the announcement of 25 percent tariffs against India and threatened an additional "penalty" for importing Russian oil.

Kerala unveils draft film policy; focus on financial framework, gender equality, global presence According to the draft, film production and exhibition will be designated as an industry, enabling access to various incentives and easing financing processes. "The recognition of film production as an industry will bring multiple advantages, enhancing transparency and promoting social responsibility within the sector," the policy stated. The government aims to ensure opportunities for all sections of society to contribute to Malayalam cinema's growth, positioning it as a key global stakeholder and preserving its cultural heritage for future generations. The vision statement outlines the goal of building a strong visual communication ecosystem, ensuring equality across related sectors, and transforming Kerala into a regional production hub by adopting advanced technology and increasing the industry's contribution to the state's GDP. The draft notes that India is the world's largest film producer, with over 2,000 releases annually. Hindi cinema leads with about 400 films a year, followed closely by Malayalam with approximately 300. In 2015, India was the fourth-largest film market globally, with theatrical revenue of USD 2.1 billion. Between 2016 and 2021, the Indian film industry grew at an annual rate of 7.7 per cent. The film industry is optimistic about cinema exhibition prospects this year, with experts estimating theatrical revenue for 2023 in India at around ₹12,000 crore. Kerala alone recorded box office collections exceeding ₹2,000 crore in 2023, the draft said. The policy affirms the government's commitment to continued dialogue with various film industry associations, supporting demands for better wages, job security, medical benefits, and insurance. A general financing incentive scheme for Malayalam cinema will be introduced, with specific provisions for women and marginalised communities. The draft also encourages the production of other Indian languages and foreign films in Kerala. A dedicated film development fund will support promotional and humanitarian initiatives outlined in the policy. A venture capital fund for film production, with private participation and crowdfunding options for socially relevant films, will be created and managed by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation . To promote an equitable work environment, the state will issue detailed guidelines and best practices for the film industry. A single-window film facilitation centre will be established to streamline all shooting-related permits in the state. A Film Development Council, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and co-chaired by Culture Minister Saji Cherian, with an industry representative as vice-chairman, will be established as the apex body to oversee the development of the film industry. The council will monitor industry activities and recommend policy interventions to the state cabinet as required. The draft policy was distributed among delegates and will be discussed in detail during the two-day conclave, which concludes on Sunday, official sources said. New labour laws in Saudi Arabia are big news for migrant workers as..., especially good for Indians due to...

New Delhi: The Saudi Arabian government has come up with new labour laws for workers. In this, workers have been given two months to resign, change jobs or leave the country. It has been reported on Saudi Arabia's Qiva platform that a grace period of 60 days has been made mandatory before declaring an employee 'absent from work' after the contract ends. This change in rules will directly affect foreign workers. Indians will be especially affected in this because a large part of the foreigners working in Saudi Arabia are Indian workers. In such a situation, it is important for Indians to know these rules. What do the new rules say? The Qiva platform of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of Saudi Arabia now gives 60 days' grace before declaring an employee absent from work. This means that employers can no longer mark employees absent from work immediately after the contract expires. They will have to wait at least 60 days, provided the employee's residence permit remains valid. During this period, disconnected employees can re-contract with their current employer, move to a new employer or leave Saudi Arabia. Failure to take action within 60 days will automatically remove their name from the employer's records. From which date have the new rules been implemented? The Qiva labour platform has made these significant changes to employment-contract rules from July 31, 2025, the Saudi Gazette reported. It said the new rule gives employees time to legalise their status and employers time for due process. This helps stabilise changes in the labour market and reduces the risk of a sudden loss of legal residency. An employer can report an employee as absent only if the employee has no active contract and the iqama is valid for at least 60 days. During this time, a disconnected employee will have the option to re-contract with the same employer, move to another job through Qiva, or leave Saudi Arabia within a 60-day window. If no action is taken within this period, i.e. 60 days, the employee will be considered absent and removed from the employer's records. Information about this will be given to the Ministry of Human Resources and Home Affairs. Even after this, employees can access salary and service certificates to verify their previous or current roles.
