
Sir Rod Stewart donates £4,000 to memorial for Celtic supporter who died in car crash
Sir Rod Stewart has donated £4,000 to a fundraiser in memory of a fellow Celtic supporter who tragically died last week.
Aiden McLuckie, 14, from Hurlford, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, after he was involved in an incident on the A76 near Bargower, between Kilmarnock and Mauchline.
His family have thanked the community for their kindness and generosity after a memorial fundraiser raised more than £10,000.
They have also thanked the emergency services who tried to save Aiden's life on Wednesday as well as the two women and two off-duty police officers who stopped at the scene moments after the incident.
Over the weekend, famous Celtic supporter Sir Rod Stewart contributed £4,000 to the fundraiser and the family are very grateful for his generosity.
In a statement posted on social media, Olivia said: "Me, David and kids would like to firstly thank the two women and two off duty police officers who were on the scene first with Aiden.
"Also we would like to thank all of the emergency services that attended and everything they did to try and save our boy.
"Last but not least, we would like to thank all the community for reaching out, donating to Aiden's memorial and all the kind, loving messages, cards and flowers we have received. They mean the world and more at this devastating time.
"We gratefully appreciate everyone that has gone to the bridge over Cessnock Water to pay their respects and lay flowers for our boy.
"Thank you to all of Aiden's friends for their support during this time. We know this is also difficult for you.
"Aiden was the most loyal, loving, kind and caring wee guy you could ever meet and we will be left with a massive hole in our family that will never be filled. We honestly don't know how we will continue on without you in our lives.
"You will never walk alone. We all love and miss you millions wee man.
"Rest in peace our beautiful boy. Gone far too soon. We will meet again soon darling, this is not goodbye it's just seen you later."

The road was closed for several hours to allow for investigation works, with Police Scotland once more appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The force is particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area from the time of the crash.
