According to
SpaceX
, the early morning mission marked the Falcon 9 first-stage booster's 22nd flight. After stage separation, the booster successfully landed on the drone ship "A Shortfall of Gravitas" in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 8 minutes and 14 seconds after liftoff.
'Falcon 9 delivers 28 @/Starlink satellites to the constellation from Florida,' posted SpaceX on social media X.
A Federal Aviation Administration operations plan advisory initially listed the launch site as Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, but remaining consistent with recent such advisories the Falcon 9 instead listed off from Nearby Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
This mission marked the 59th orbital rocket launch so far this year from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and KSC. Looking ahead, Space Force officials announced that SpaceX received an $81.6 million contract to launch the USSF-178 mission in the first half of fiscal year 2027.
This includes the Space Force's Space Systems Command's Weather System Follow-on-Microwave Space Vehicle 2 (or WSF-M2), which will enhance global weather sensing, It also carries BLAZE-2, a group of small department of defence satellites used for operation, research and development.

Starlink secures one more approval as it inches toward operations in India

Starlink on Tuesday received an authorisation to operate its broadband satellite constellation over India from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), the body revealed in an update to its website on Wednesday. IN-SPACe comes under the Department of Space. This is the second major approval that Starlink has received in India, after it received a Global Mobile Personal Communications by Satellite (GMPCS) authorisation last month from the Department of Telecommunications. While Starlink in particular and satellite broadband in general have been an object of fascination and interest by the government, security and ownership concerns among government officials have posed significant barriers to the firm starting operations in India. Shortly before issuing Starlink a GMPCS authorisation, the DoT issued a list of additional security conditions for satellite broadband operators, requiring them to disallow Indian-registered satellite broadband connections from working abroad and vice versa. The IN-SPACe authorisation remains, however, a step in the right direction for the Elon Musk-owned SpaceX, which runs Starlink. The constellation would be able to immediately beam an internet connection to spots in rural and remote regions where even faint mobile coverage is not available. While the overall volume of spectrum available to Starlink and its pricing — estimated to be around ₹60,000 for the hardware, and ₹3,500 in monthly fees, before accounting for government levies that may push up the price — make it a tricky proposition at scale, the government has spoken of leveraging satellite internet in remote government offices. The IN-SPACe authorisation grants Starlink gateways permission to operate uplink frequencies in the 27.5-29.1 and 29.5-30 gigahertz (GHz) bands, and downlink beams in 17.8-18.6 and 18.8-19.3 GHz. Individual users will connect up in 14.0-14.5 GHz and 10.7-12.7 GHz. The assignment of this spectrum by the DoT remains pending, before which commercial operations will not be able to start. In the neighbourhood, Starlink is already available in Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the latter having approved it this month.

Starlink gets necessary clearance from India's space regulator

ANI 09 Jul 2025, 21:38 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], July 9 (ANI): Elon Musk-owned satellite communication firm Starlink has received clearance from the Indian space regulator, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), sources said on Wednesday. In early June, Starlink was provided with license by the government to launch GMPCS (Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite) services, VSAT Services and ISP Category-A under unified license. Starlink is the third company to receive approval for satellite communication (satcom) services from the Department of Telecom, following OneWeb and Reliance Jio. Recently, Airtel and Jio have partnered with Starlink to bring the latter's high-speed satellite internet services to their customers in India. Starlink will utilise Airtel and Jio's extensive dealer network to sell and promote its services. Satellite telecom in India will help the country provide much-needed services in remote interior places where conventional telecom services tend to be costly. Starlink's imminent launch comes as India continues to push for digital inclusion and improved internet connectivity across its vast geographical expanse, particularly in areas where traditional internet service providers have struggled to establish reliable networks. Final hurdle cleared: Musk's Starlink gets space regulator INSPACe's nod for India launch

NEW DELHI: In a move that will make the Indian market more competitive for affordable satellite-based internet services, the country's space regulator and promoter Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has granted authorisation to Elon Musk's satcom venture Starlink Satellite Communications Private Ltd for providing satellite communication services. With this authorisation, Starlink has cleared the final hurdle for launch of services in India. Earlier, the company had received a licence to offer satellite services in India from the Department of Telecom (DoT) on June 5, and IN-SPACe's clearance now paves the way for it to start work on setting up ground infrastructure to begin services, possibly over the next few months. 'IN-SPACe granted authorization to Starlink Satellite Communications Private Ltd (SSCPL) for enabling provisioning of low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites constellation, namely Starlink Gen1. IN-SPACe authorization to SSCPL has a validity period of five years from the date of authorisation or end of operational life of Gen1 constellation – whichever is earlier. The roll-out of services is subject to the stipulated regulatory provisions and requisite clearance/approval/license from the relevant government department(s),' the space regulator said. Starlink will now be the third company to receive India's nod to enter the space, with the Union govt previously approving applications by Eutelsat's OneWeb and Reliance Jio to provide services in the country. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo The affordable satellite-based internet service Starlink is now set to roll out in the country in a few months. In June, Starlink had received approval for three licences — Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS), Commercial Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT), and Internet Service Provider (ISP) — after trying for years to get a go-ahead. The Starlink Gen1 Constellation is a global constellation with 4,408 satellites orbiting earth in altitude between 540 and 570 km and capable of providing 600 gbps throughput over India. Starlink currently has a subscriber base of over 5 million customers globally, and is looking to grow this exponentially as it begins services in a telecom-heavy market like India. The company currently operates the world's largest constellation of satellites and its services are already available in several countries, including Mongolia, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Jordan, Yemen, Azerbaijan and Sri Lanka.
