Salman Khan adds a bullet proof Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 worth Rs 3.40 crore to his car collection: Report
Salman Khan
has added a powerful new ride to his already impressive car collection—a bulletproof Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. This luxury SUV isn't just about looks; it's loaded with performance too.
Under the hood, it packs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Thanks to its 9-speed automatic gearbox and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and hit speeds close to 250 km/h.
The car reportedly costs around Rs. 3.40 crore, and the price includes bulletproof features like armored body panels and reinforced glass—making it both a luxury cruiser and a fortress on wheels.
This major upgrade comes amid rising security threats against the actor. However, this isn't Khan's first bullet proof car. He also had his older Toyota Land Cruiser fitted with armor, even though Toyota doesn't offer a factory-made bulletproof version.
Salman has been facing death threats ever since last year, since two people on a bike started gunfire outside his house Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai. Later, his amped up his security after Baba Siddiqui was killed in Mumbai.

During a press conference ahead of his Eid release 'Sikandar', Salman addressed the dangers he's been facing. As per Hindustan Times, he said, "Bhagwan, Allah sab unpar hai. Jitni umar likhi hai, utni likhi hai. Bas yahi hai. Kabhi kabhi itne logon ko saath mein leke chalna padta hai, bas wohi problem ho jaati hai."

The EV influx
The newly announced incentive scheme for foreign carmakers to make EVs in India is about to get off the ground. According to government sources, a lot of carmakers have evinced interest in registering for the scheme. This includes some who are already present in the country as well as new companies taking the opportunity to establish a manufacturing base in India. But that does not mean there will be a long wait for new cars at lower prices, because once registered, these companies can start importing EVs at a duty of 15 per cent as opposed to 70 or 100 per cent as the case may be. The number of cars that can be imported at the incentivised rate is governed by the total amount the company is saving by paying duty at a lower rate. This amount can be equal to the total amount the company has invested under the scheme—the saving being capped at Rs 6,484 crore. Of course, there are a lot more stipulations and caveats to this and it is not as simple as it sounds.
