Tadej Pogačar withstands Jonas Vingegaard's attacks to keep Tour de France yellow jersey
With just three stages left before the race ends in Paris, Pogačar looks poised to retain his title, with a comfortable lead of more than four minutes over Vingegaard, a two-time champion.
Stage 18 featured three extremely difficult ascents, including the 26.4-kilometer (16.5-mile) daunting climb of the Col de La Loze up to the finish. At 2,304 meters of altitude, La Loze is the highest summit in this year's Tour.
Two years ago, Vingegaard dropped Pogačar on that mountain on his way to his second Tour title but could not deal a decisive blow this time.
Riding behind O'Connor, Vingegaard and Pogačar closely watched each other in the final climb. Vingegaard attacked his Slovenian rival but Pogačar responded with ease. Vingegaard and his teammates had also tried to hurt the defending champion earlier in the day in the Col de La Madeleine, but their effors left Pogačar unfazed.
The reigning world champion never panicked and accelerated near the end to drop Vingegaard in the last 500 meters and increase his overall lead.

"He Gained All The Weight Luka Lost": James Harden Criticized By Fans For Seeming Unfit In Asia Tour
"He Gained All The Weight Luka Lost": James Harden Criticized By Fans For Seeming Unfit In Asia Tour originally appeared on Fadeaway World. James Harden has a massive fan base in Asia, especially in China, where the Clippers star is revered as one of the greatest players of all time. From addressing Daryl Morey's controversy in 2019 to calling Morey out and announcing his exit from the 76ers in 2023, Harden has always kept it real with his Chinese fans. Now, on his most recent trip to China, Harden has come under public scrutiny for seemingly adding a few pounds to his weight. While thousands of fans in China gathered together to welcome Harden to their country, fans online were more concerned about the Clippers star's fitness situation. A clip from Harden's visit to China went viral, and fans flooded social media with jokes and also showed concerns over his weight. Not all fans were just making jokes about him. Some even believed that this was a part of his usual cycle, and he would transform his body back into fitness by the time the season begins in October. "He gained all the weight Luka lost," said a fan who compared Harden's fitness to Luka Doncic's body transformation this summer. "Kendrick Perkins would look skinny next to Harden." "He's gotta be wearing that fat suit, there's no way." "Please tell me he got some enemies and he's wearing a vest or something." "James Harden definitely found all the buffets out there in China." "James Harden looks like he absorbed Luka Doncic like Cell from Dragon Ball Z." "Lmao yall stay body watching bro it's the offseason he'll come in the season in shape and stay in shape until the next offseason." "That's a typical preseason Harden." "This is just a sneak peek at how James Harden will likely look as soon as he retires from the NBA. Bro wants to enjoy them meals and millions in peace, and I feel him." "He still gone hit that step back on em is the crazy thing," said a faithful fan who believed that Harden could still perform at the same level as he did despite the weight gain. The Clippers' star reportedly was a key reason why Chris Paul and Bradley Beal joined them this season. Days after signing his $81.5 million extension with the Clippers, Harden is now having the time of his life vacationing in China. The All-Star guard finished last season while averaging 22.8 points, 8.7 assists, and 5.8 rebounds in the regular season. This is not the first time we have seen a major transformation in Harden's physique headed into the offseason. NBA players' bodies transform at a much faster rate than non-athletes, seemingly due to their increased rate of metabolism. Won't be a surprise if somehow Harden manages to lose all the weight he has gained by the time the next season begins. But with passing time and age, will Harden be able to bounce back once again? Or are we seeing a decline towards retirement for the 35-year-old star? I expect that we will see a repeat of the same cycle, and Harden will be back to his prime fitness by the beginning of the 2025-26 story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 4, 2025, where it first appeared.

Cameron Young Issues Bold Message on Mission Beyond First PGA Tour Win
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. It's hard to ignore the tension of a leaderboard topped by a player who's done almost everything but win a title on the Tour. For Cameron Young, heading into the final round of the Wyndham Championship is exactly that. Young, who turned pro in 2019, has racked up seven runner-up finishes and 22 top-10s in his 94 career starts, more than any other active player without a win since 1983. But this week at Sedgefield Country Club, he's rewriting the narrative. After a bogey-free 8-under 62 in Round 2 on Saturday morning, the 28-year-old pro returned to fire a 5-under 65 in Round 3. It gave him a total of 20-under 190, making a new 54-hole tournament scoring record. (Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images) More Getty Images What made his Saturday round at Sedgefield Country Club more amusing was the birdie surge. Young swung a total of six birdies, with a dazzling stretch of four straight on holes 3 through 6. When asked if he was chasing the win to finally "get the monkey off his back," Young offered a mature pivot. "If you had asked me two years ago, I'd probably say yes," Young told reporters on Saturday. "I finished second a bunch, I've gotten beat a lot. I've played some good golf on Sunday in really all those cases. So that's all I'm trying to do tomorrow (Sunday). I'm starting in a nice spot, so I'm just looking to try to beat second place by as many as I can. That's been my mindset from the first tee on Thursday, and that's what I'm going to try to do tomorrow (Sunday)." Young has often spoken about the Ryder Cup, and during the Saturday media conference, he made his bigger goal even more clear. "It hurt pretty bad to miss it a couple years ago," Young admitted on Day 3. "I was ninth on the points list and didn't get picked, so I was a bit frustrated with that." The New York native missed the team in 2023, finishing ninth in the points list and getting snubbed by then-captain Zach Johnson. He continued, "Set out the year to give our captain no choice, and I don't know if I'm in a position to do that or not, but it would take some really good golf between now and then. But if I'm in the question, that's been a big goal of mine and I'd love to put myself there anyway." Currently ranked No. 19 in the U.S. Ryder Cup standings, Young needs a strong finish at Wyndham and a deep playoff run to crack the top six automatic qualifiers before the BMW Championship on August 17. A win this week could push him as high as No. 15, keeping him in contention for a captain's pick by Keegan Bradley. Additionally, this year's venue, Bethpage Black, makes Young more passionate than ever. "I think that that location is, first of all, one of my favorite golf courses in the world," he told reporters, as quoted. "I have a lot of good memories there playing the New York State Open, and I'm sure a New York crowd would be, I at least hope, on my side to some extent. So yeah, that's been a goal this whole year." The PGA Tour pro teed off his Sunday round at 1:55 p.m. ET, alongside Echavarria, who was five strokes behind Young until Round 3. French rider Ferrand-Prevot solos to victory in women's Tour de France
French rider Pauline Ferrand-Prevot soloed to victory on Sunday in the ninth and final stage in the Alps to seal the women's Tour de France title. Olympic mountain bike champion Ferrand-Prevot of Visma, who rejoined the road racing scene last year, took the overall title by a 3min 42sec margin over Dutch rider Demi Vollering. She ended the long wait for a home Tour winner, dating back to 1989. Last year's winner Katarzyna Niewiadoma of Poland finished third overall at 4min 09sec. Ferrand-Prevot said she had achieved "the goal of her life as an athlete" after sealing victory in the mountains on the border with Switzerland. "I came back on the road after my Olympic title, and I said I will try to win the Tour de France in the next three years," said the 33-year-old. "So here I am, the first one! It was an amazing season with my team." She adds to her 15 world titles in several cycling disciplines including mountain biking, cyclo-cross and road racing. She becomes the first French rider to win the modern women's Tour de France in its fourth edition. "At the summit! Pauline Ferrand-Prevot is making Tour de France history," French President Emmanuel Macron posted on social media. "She turns effort into a resounding victory, difficulty into national pride. Bravo, champion!" Jeannie Longo won the title 36 years ago in the race's former guise, the Tour de France Feminin. Bernard Hinault was the last Frenchman to win the men's Tour de France in 1985 when he claimed his fifth title. This season, after seven years devoted primarily to mountain biking, Ferrand-Prevot also won the Paris-Roubaix before focusing on preparing for the Tour. "It was so difficult (this stage). I wanted to win here in the yellow jersey. It's a dream," she said. Ferrand-Prevot finally won her first Olympic medal last year in Paris in her fourth Games, taking a dominant gold in the mountain biking cross-country event. bnl/ea/jc/nf
