Aaron Phypers accuses Denise Richards of Vicodin addiction, having ‘ongoing' affair in explosive letter

News.com.au22-07-2025
Aaron Phypers is accusing his estranged wife, Denise Richards, of being addicted to pain medication Vicodin and having an 'ongoing' affair with another man, after she levelled shocking abuse allegations against him.
In an explosive letter to friends and family obtained by Page Six from Phypers, he claims Richards needs an 'intervention' for her alleged drug addiction that has affected their 14-year-old daughter, Eloise.
'For nearly a decade, she has struggled with an addiction to Vicodin (which she jokingly calls 'Vitamin D' or 'white chestnuts'), mixed with Adderall and tequila,' he claims.
'Some of you know this has been an issue for over 20 years. She's no longer eating real meals, and I've witnessed her pass out from substances – putting herself and others in danger, including while driving with our daughter.'
He also claims Richards has been involved in an affair, which he learned about earlier this year.
'She begged me not to leave, saying it was nothing and that she only loved me,' Phypers alleges in the letter.
'Then, she denied it all — even the explicit messages I found. Despite her promise to stop, more lies and shocking evidence emerged.'
Phypers further claims that she's the one who physically abused him on July 4 — their date of separation in his divorce filing.
'On July 4th, a simple act — ordering food for our daughter Eloise — led to an unthinkable discovery. Denise accused me of using her card, and in the confusion, my phone disappeared,' he claims.
'After searching for over 20 hours and being physically attacked when I asked for it back, I eventually found it smashed inside a trash bag, hidden beneath rotting garbage and litter. When I asked why, she denied it completely. That same night, she texted me saying she was filing for divorce.'
Phypers claims he and his parents have since been 'mistreated' after he filed for divorce first.
'I've experienced stalking (an AirTag placed on my car), been denied access to my personal belongings, and watched my elderly parents become frightened and mistreated — simply because they supported me and helped take care of Denise's animals, her daughter, and our home,' he claims in the letter.
'This isn't just a relationship breaking down. It's a cry for help,' he alleges, asking for prayers for Richards.
He also doubled down on his previous denial of Richards' allegations of abuse, claiming, 'I have never, ever physically harmed my wife, and I did not give her a black eye. I have only ever stepped in to protect her or others — including separating her from physically attacking her daughter — always coming from a place of care and concern.'
Page Six has reached out to Richards for comment but did not hear back.
Richards, 54, was granted a restraining order against Phypers, 52, last Wednesday.
In court documents obtained by Page Six, she shared photos of her bruised face, claiming Phypers had abused her.
'Throughout our relationship, Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack,' Richards alleged.
She claimed Phypers threatened to kill her and himself if she ever reported him to the cops.
She also referenced their big blowout fight on July 4, claiming he was the aggressor. Richards alleged he became 'enraged' after she told him that he and his family had to move out of their marital home.
'Over the course of nearly two hours, Aaron repeatedly got within two inches of my face and screamed at me degrading profanities, including calling me a 'c**t wh**e' and a 'piece of sh*t' and screaming at me, 'Nobody likes you',' she alleged in the court documents.
'Aaron repeatedly grabbed my left arm tightly in an aggressive manner. I told Aaron repeatedly that he needed to stay away from me and that he was going to hurt me.'
Phypers — who was previously caught on camera telling Richards he would 'crush' her hand in a resurfaced The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills scene — denied Richards' allegations shortly after the filing, calling them 'harmful and baseless'.
A source close to Phypers blamed the shocking picture of her black eye from her restraining order filing on her having an alleged 'alcohol problem'.
'That photo was taken in winter 2022, and the fact is she was drunk at the time and fell coming up the steps to Aaron's [since-closed medical] clinic, Q360,' the insider claimed to the Daily Mail.
Phypers filed for divorce from Richards earlier this month, listing 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their split.

Chilling clip emerges of NYC gunman

The gunman who opened fire inside Midtown Manhattan office tower has been identified as Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old licensed private investigator from Las Vegas who once dreamed of a life in football. He arrived in Manhattan by car on Monday and walked into 345 Park Avenue with a concealed weapon permit issued by the Las Vegas Sheriff's Department. What followed was a terrifying and targeted shooting spree that police believe was premeditated. 'It appears that he knew it would be his last stand,' said CNN chief law enforcement analyst John Miller, a former NYPD deputy commissioner. 'He fully intended to shoot his way through the lobby and make his way to that target - whatever that might have been.' The building, home to the NFL's headquarters and offices of investment giant Blackrock, became the scene of a major lockdown. While the league's offices are housed in the tower, sources confirmed Tamura was not on the NFL floor and that no known connection has yet been established between the shooter and the sports organisation. However, Tamura appears to have been a keen football fan and player. Tamura grew up in Hawaii, where he attended high school and began playing the sport. He was a promising football player in junior varsity. In a video posted online, Tamura can be heard giving a post-game interview in which he spoke of his victory with the Granada Hills football team. Shane was instrumental in his teams victory after scoring several touchdowns. 'We were down 10-0, stay disciplined came together as a team,' he said. 'Couple of touchdowns.' He eventually relocated to Las Vegas, where he earned a private investigator's license and obtained a concealed carry permit to carry firearms, both legally granted through Nevada's Sheriff's Department. The latter part of Tamura's life remained private. Investigators are now urgently combing through his car, phone, and computer in search of answers to try and work out what stressors or perceived injustices led him to carry out the deadly shooting. 'Police want to know what brought him to that building, who or what the target was, and what the grievance or motive behind it might have been,' Miller explained. 'These cases often involve people who experience a downfall and begin to blame others - bosses, institutions, society at large. 'Then they decide to get even with everybody, even though in most cases, the problem is usually them,' Miller said. Miller said shooters like Tamura often spiral quietly, building a world of resentment that no one sees until it erupts in tragedy. 'They blame their problems on other people and entities,' he said. 'Then they decide to get even - with the world, with everyone - even though the problem usually begins and ends with themselves.' No motive has yet been officially released, but police believe he was suicidal.

‘He was mad': Detail we missed as killer confronted in court

The young woman who bravely confronted her sister's killer as he was jailed for life has detailed the moment we all missed in the blistering courtroom take-down. Alivea Goncalves, sister of murdered Kaylee Goncalves, has opened up about her decision to give Bryan Kohberger a verbal shakedown during his sentencing. Kohberger was given four consecutive life sentences after he snuck into the shared home of Idaho State University students Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20 and Ethan Chapin, 20 in Moscow, Idaho. All four were stabbed to death in their beds by Kohberger, now 30, at around 4am on November 13, 2022. Two other flatmates, Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, were unharmed, despite Kohberger being seemingly aware they were there. Kohberger agreed to a plea deal on July 2 that saw him admit to the murders and waive his right to appeal in exchange for not getting the death penalty. The legal move left some of the victim's families outraged, including the Goncalves', prompting family members to channel that anger during their powerful, and unforgettable, victim impact statements. Videos of Alivea's blistering take-down of Kohberger, which saw the 26-year-old call him 'a delusional, pathetic, hypochondriac loser', quickly went viral around the world – with many praising her courage. She has now spoken out about her brave statement, revealing she was 'fuelled by seeing the rage on his face', as well as revealing the detail we all missed. 'I had one shot at it and I was gonna make the most of it,' she told ABC News. 'I went off memory because I didn't want to break eye contact. 'Man … was he mad. That was obviously a big point of why I did what I did, to make him feel small.' Alivea added that she was 'prepared to be arrested' for telling Kohberger he was 'as dumb as they come, stupid, clumsy, slow, sloppy, weak, dirty'. But at one point during her victim impact statement, Kohberger appeared to take sick pleasure in the verbal lashing — flashing a slight grin at Alivea. Other than that brief moment, he wore a blank expression on his face through the entire proceeding despite Alivea's powerful statement. He also stayed silent when he was given the chance to address the court, stating: 'I respectfully decline.' Her comments come after police reports taken from the scene were made public, revealing Ms Goncalves – who was murdered alongside her lifelong best friend Maddie Mogen – was stabbed more than 30 times and had defensive wounds on her body. The 21-year-old was described as 'unrecognisable as her facial structure was extremely damaged,' the documents stated, a 'gruesome and graphic' detail Alivea said the family wanted made public to let people know 'Kaylee absolutely fought for her life'. During the courtroom confrontation, Alivea drew a large applause as she ordered Kohberger to 'sit up straight when I talk to you'. 'Let me be very clear. Don't ever try to convince yourself you mattered just because someone finally said your name out loud,' she told the convicted killer. 'I see through you. 'You want the truth? Here's the one you'll hate the most: If you hadn't attacked them in their sleep, in the middle of the night like a paedophile, Kaylee would have kicked your f***ing ass.' Kristi Goncalves, Kaylee's mum, also delivered a colourful condemnation of her daughter's murderer. 'Your fellow inmates will be awaiting your arrival,' she said. While father Steve Goncalves labelled him a 'joke' while ridiculing the lazy trail of evidence he left behind at the scene of his gruesome quadruple murder. known as 'one of America's worst hellhole prisons'. Conditions are said to be extremely tough at the jail, which was reportedly opened in 1989 to confine the state's 'most disruptive male residents', with inmates given little access to home comforts. Kohberger's first meal in notorious prison Prisoners have access to basic food services at the unit, including various selective diets, such as vegetarian menus and a 'healthy choice' option. For vegan inmates like Kohberger, vegan barley casserole, baked beans and canned fruit are on offer. On Wednesday night, the day of his arrival, the menu included hotdogs, salad and Jello pie, a prison official told the New York Post. A photo shared on the Idaho Department of Correction of a meal served at IMSI shows a red tray, featuring a main meal, a side, as well as a salad and dessert along with a drink. Kohberger, who was previously being held at the Ada County Jail in Boise during his trial, is now expected to live out his days at IMSI — the state's only max security prison. Inside the 'hellhole' prison The IMSI is reportedly 'tucked away in a desolate area on the outskirts of the state's capital' and has earned a grim reputation for its harsh conditions. In the past the prison has seen allegations of abusive guards, experienced violent brawls, and is said to have had complaints from inmates over its faeces-covered recreation 'cages' and a dirty ventilation system described as being 'biohazard'. Two of Idaho's most notorious serial killers — Gerald Pizzuto and Thomas Eugene Creech — are also serving time there, along with doomsday cult killer Chad Daybell.

At least five people killed in New York office building

At least five people, including an off-duty police officer, have been shot and killed in a New York office building that houses some of the country's top financial firms and the National Football League (NFL), sources have told AP. New York City police converged on a Park Avenue skyscraper in midtown Manhattan after gunshots were reported fired inside the tower, police said. The suspect was identified as Shane Tamura of Nevada, two people briefed on the investigation told AP. Law enforcement officials located identification on Mr Tamura's body, including a concealed carry permit from Las Vegas, the people said. US media outlets, including The New York Post and CNN, citing police sources, reported that the gunman killed himself. New York City police commissioner Jessica Disch said in a post on social media site X that the "lone shooter" had been "neutralised". The Fire Department of New York said emergency crews were called to the Park Avenue office building following a report someone had been shot. A spokesperson said the call came in at about 6:30pm on Monday, local time, but provided no other details. Jessica Chen told ABC News US she was watching a presentation with dozens of other people on the second floor when she "heard multiple shots go off in quick succession from the first floor". She and others ran into a conference room and barricaded tables against the door. "We were honestly really, really scared," she said, adding that she texted her parents to tell them that she loved them. Mayor Eric Adams said multiple people were injured. He posted a clip to social media urging people still inside the office building to stay put because police officers were conducting a floor-by-floor search. The Democrat said he was headed to the hospital to speak with the family and loved ones of those involved. Local TV footage showed lines of people with their hands above their heads evacuating the office building. The building includes offices for Blackstone and the Consulate General of Ireland. FBI deputy director Dan Bongino said in a social media post that agents and other bureau personnel were responding to provide support to what he said was an "active crime scene". The city's emergency management alert system warned of traffic delays, road closures and disruptions to public transportation in the area.
