Sir Stephen Fry wants to create a TV drama series where people return to communicating in an "unplugged life".
The 67-year-old actor and broadcaster's idea is for emails and social media platforms, such as Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat, to be seen as the "uncoolest thing", and that a pupil would ask his teacher how to hand in an essay because he does not have a computer and, therefore, cannot submit it via an email.

Chatting to entrepreneur John Reynolds on a recent episode of the Extraordinary Life podcast, Stephen revealed: "I was going to write a TV series about it, in which this kid comes to a school and completely changes the school."

As the pupil does not communicate by using electronics, his cohort thinks the youngster is odd.
The Celebrity Traitors star continued: "And anyway, they all stare at this kid, 'Who is this ridiculous child?'"
Eventually, the pupil motivated the tech-savvy children to communicate in the old-fashioned way, and they enjoyed it.

Stephen added: "He starts basically influencing everybody. They think this is actually quite a fun way to live. It's really enjoyable.
"And I think it just takes that, it would just be a little - the balance would just shift."
Stephen regularly posted on X, when it was known as Twitter, until 2022 - a few months before Elon Musk purchased the platform.

He has kept his account but is not active on it - just like on other social media platforms.
And Stephen thinks social media sites have made the world a far worse place.
He explained: "We come to a tipping point now, where the uncoolest thing in the world is Snapchat and Instagram and TikTok.

"And they are just boring. And we know they're harmful, but they're also vapid and shallow."
The Jeopardy! host said the "coolest" schoolchildren would be those who are not glued to a screen.
He said: "But what incredible fun if you were 15 to live an off-grid life, and unplugged life, using all these fabulous old tools.

"You would be the coolest people in the school."
Stephen initially thought social media "could change the world" in a good way.
He said during his Digital Futures Institute lecture at King's College London in 2024: "I'm the chump who thought social media could change the world."

Adorable Dad's day in the life TikTok trend shows '50/50' parenting

TikTok's latest trend is a wholesome one this time, with father's sharing the behind-the-scenes moments of parenting in a series of candid clips - from 4am mornings to late night feeds Dads are taking over TikTok with this latest trend, showcasing the positive work these men do as parents, from when they wake up in the morning right up until their heads hit the pillow. Many viewers are praising the idea for showing these fathers in a positive light, as presentparents who are both active and enjoying raising their children. Making it all the more fun, the 'day in the life of a dad' videos are set against the 2009 throwback hit from the Black Eyed Peas, Imma Be. It sees the men starting off the video in the morning as they mime the lines "I'ma be on the next level", before moving on to the next line as they approach the next step in their routine. ‌ ‌ In one particular video, by the creator @Kidds_Dad, his typical dad day starts off at 4am, where he kicks off thinking of a 'wake up with baby'. The quick clip shows him working two different jobs in the day before playing with his child in the evening, before ending the day at 8:30pm for a 'movie date' with his wife. Viewers were quick to comment and praise his daily dad routine. One user shared: "This is what a good dad does! Parents, housework and provides. It should be 50/50! Comments like 'What does the mum do?' Errr…her 50% also! It's not just the mother's responsibility to parent or clean the house!" Another viewer added: "It's so nice to see a husband so involved and being a good dad and a supportive partner!" While someone else commented: "it's so nice to see a husband so involved and being a good dad and a supportive partner!" Well-known online dad Masonn Varney, who makes up part of The Varney Family on TikTok, took part in the trend and, as a result, racked up one million views. Starting off at 10am with a 'brunch date' with his daughter and ending at 7:30pm for 'face mask time' with his kids, the creator's video was hectic, to say the least. A viewer took to the comments to praise him for all the fun he's having with his children. They wrote: "Probably my favourite one yet! Your girls will remember this." ‌ In a standout addition to the trend, one dad showed the realities of feeding a newborn baby and timing his bottle feeds. The video received a lot of attention, making note of his feed times starting right at 4:30am and going on until 10:30pm that same day. An impressed user related to the 'day in the life' style video and commented: "My fiancé did the majority of the night feeds for the first 6 weeks so I could heal. And if I did get up and say, 'No, I'll feed him; you sleep,' he would still get up and make the bottle and get me a diaper before going back to bed. Teamwork makes the dream work!" Royal donor offered access to Prince of Wales for cash, reports say

Her art gallery – the Mondejar Gallery – was an official sponsor of the annual charitable polo event which is taking place in Windsor next month. Kensington Palace declined to comment. It is understood that the Palace was unaware of what is being viewed as a rogue sponsor until alerted by the newspaper, and action was taken immediately. William usually takes part in the match (Jonathan Brady/PA) The organisers of the event were not aware it was being used by the Mondejar Foundation to raise money, it is believed. The Mondejar Foundation has been approached for comment. The Royal Charity Polo Cup match is an exclusive event where charity donors can watch the prince play polo. Among the guests at last year's match was TV presenter and interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and wife Jackie, who were seen taking a courtesy golf buggy around the site. The event raised more than a £1 million for causes that William and Kate are passionate about, including Wales Air Ambulance, Child Bereavement UK, Place2Be, Action for Children and The Royal Marsden.

Glastonbury shut stage down ahead of rappers' performance as they struggle with overcrowding again

GLASTONBURY Festival is dealing with a new overcrowding issue after declaring fans to AVOID one of the major stages. As Neil Young took to the main Pyramid stage as the headliner of the evening, pop fans have ditched the rocker in favour of other acts. Advertisement Charli XCX is set to perform on the Other Stage at 10.30pm, while American rapper Doechii will appear on the third biggest stage, Woodsies, at 10.45pm. 5 Glastonbury has come under fire for its crowd control Credit: Getty 5 Doechii is set to close the Woodsies tent at 10.45 Credit: Getty 5 As Neil Young took to the main Pyramid stage, thousands flocked to the Other Stage and Woodsies instead Credit: PA However, nearly an hour before the set was due to start, the crowd at Woodsies had got so big that they were forced to close access. The team simply posted a message on X (formerly Twitter), declaring: "No access to Woodsies. Please head to another area of the site - thank you." Doechii – who has topped the charts this year with her songs Denial Is A River and Anxiety – is still set to perform as planned. Advertisement This is the second time Woodsies has been forced to shut down for crowd control – with Lorde's early Friday morning surprise set also causing chaos. The New Zealand singer appeared on stage to celebrate the release of her new album, Virgin, in a last minute appearance. So the news came as a massive annoyance to ticketholders, who have criticised the team for poor organisation. They've been particularly critical of putting big names like Charli XCX and Doechii against each other on the line-up, and on smaller stages that don't have the capacity needed for the crowd. Advertisement "Terrible programming throughout, you need a massive re think for your next festival," wrote one. "doechii and charli clashing at glasto is EVIL WORK!!" said another. Glastonbury chaos as bosses are forced to SHUT part of festival as Lorde performs surprise set "Glastonbury really looked at all the vibrant amazing young artists around and said "nah, lets pump the big slots full of elderly white men". I'm not being funny but I'm struggling to stay awake for Doechii watching Neil Young..." noted a third. And a fourth said: "It's full to capacity? Nobody's at the Pyramid Stage for Neil Young. Everyone is either at Woodsies or the Other Stage for Charli XCX Advertisement "Glastonbury has shit the bed a bit here. Field packed for Charli XCX. Woodsies closed an hour ahead of time for Scissor Sisters. Doechii still to come. Pyramid very sparse for Neil Young. Meanwhile PULP do an hour in the afternoon and fill the space" 5 Glastonbury organisers have urged attendees not to go to the Woodsies stage Credit: Getty
