The best pictures so far as spectacular tall ships arrive in Scottish harbour
Around fifty vessels and 2,000 sailing crew members are sailing into Aberdeen, after racing from Dunkirk to the Scottish city.
Ships from South America, the Middle East and Europe are set to compete in the four-day extravaganza, which is running from Saturday July 19 until Tuesday July 22.
The tallest ship taking part is Dar Mlodziezy, from Poland, which is 62.5 metres (205ft) high. The BAP Union, which has already arrived in Aberdeen, has travelled all the way from Peru - the furthest afield of all the ships.

A travel expert has highlighted a tiny island off the coast of Scotland that boasts stunning 'Caribbean-like' views with white sands and turquoise waters If you're looking for somewhere idyllic to visit this summer, the perfect solution may be much closer than you think. Travel expert Chris Lawlor claims there is an island right here off the Scottish coast that offers an experience like the Caribbean as well as a range of activities to keep you busy during your stay. "Did you know that in Scotland you can visit a tiny island that looks like the Caribbean with a white sandy beach and turquoise waters?" he began in a TikTok video. Sharing footage of the island of Iona as proof, Chris headed inland where he added that the whole island is "explorable on foot". Chris headed to a nearby "sacred abbey" that offers "tranquillity" by the coast, as he went onto highlight the "many other treasures" along his walk. "It's only a 10-minute boat ride from the Isle of Mull," he said. Before leaving, he suggested "soaking in the views" as you visit Ailidh - a small pizza takeaway on the coast, which also offers a variety of local seafood and sweet treats on its menu. "Remember to respect this wee island called Iona," he closed. "I've spent so much time in Scotland over the years, but completely missed this gem," one TikTok user admitted in response. "Thanks for sharing." A second person recalled: "Visited here with family when I was about 11 I never forget this place because of how clear the water was looking over the side of the boat and seeing hundreds of little jellyfish fish." Police on the Balearic party island have now launched an investigation into Gary's death. The Civil Guard confirmed: "We are investigating the death of a 19-year-old British man at a hotel in San Antonio in Ibiza. "The alarm was raised around 12.40am this morning. "Our officers were sent to the scene but the man in question was already dead by the time help arrived. "The fall was from from the third floor of the hotel to an outside part of the complex. "Court officials authorised the removal of his body at 2.40am this morning. "The fall could be accidental based on the early information obtained from cameras but as part of the investigation possible witnesses will need to be located and interviewed. "The results of the post-mortem will also be important to the investigation.' Ibiza Rocks released a statement this afternoon which states that they have suspended all their events. It read: "We are deeply shocked and devastated by the recent incidents that have tragically occurred. "Our priority is to support those affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and to fully assist the authorities with their investigations. "The safety and wellbeing of our guests has, and always will remain, our highest priority. Given the seriousness of the situation and out of respect for those involved, we believe it is right to pause our advertised events programme at this time. "All customers will be informed directly via email." A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office told The Courier: 'We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.'

In the Bushes, is the title of this theatrical, wry, energetic dance work which showcases the very distinctive style of choreographer and director Léa Tirabasso. We caught up with Léa, who shares her time between London and Luxembourg to ask her more about the piece – her fourth full-length dance work – which was inspired by questions around the gaze, societal conventions and fed by the reading of The Accidental Species: Misunderstandings of Human Evolution, by Henry Gee. Supplied | Camilla Greenwell 'The piece is very absurd, but it's also very funny,' she says. 'I wanted us to laugh. The world desperately needs to laugh… I wanted to embrace nonsense.' Henry Gee's premise is: 'There is nothing special about being human, any more than there is anything special about being a guinea pig or a geranium.' Léa explains: 'I have been exploring through my work, what being human means, and we are bizarre, quirky, grotesque but lovable creatures.' 'I do not think you need to be a dance expert to enjoy this,' she said. 'The movement is the centre but we use voice and faces. It's a very playful piece and would appeal to anyone who wants to laugh and who maybe, has lost faith in humanity.' About the production Reviewed as 'Masterfully choreographed' by Broadway World, In the Bushes brings six extraordinary dancers in a surreal world. With a cinematic electronic score by Johanna Bramli and Ed Chivers, the production is a delight for the eyes and the ears – with bursts of classical, opera and pop music accompanying the fast-paced action. The quirky colourful costumes, sometimes worn, sometimes discarded, designed by Jennifer Lopes Santos, add to the visual stimulation, while the atmospheric lighting states are designed by Ben Moon. The six dancers are Catarina Barbosa, Georges Maikel Pires Monteiro, Karl Fagerlund Brekke, Laura Lorenzi, Mayowa Ogunnaike and Stefania Pinato. Bohumil KOSTOHRYZ Léa, who studied art history and literature in Lyon before training at London Contemporary Dance School, manages to bring a playful touch to some serious philosophical questions. I wanted lightness and that's what the absurdity helped me achieve Léa Tirabasso But the production is nonetheless physically extremely demanding on the dancers, and gives the audience plenty to ponder. The dance was first staged in November last year, and has been performed in France, London and Luxembourg. When asked to describe who the dance would appeal to and what the audience can expect Léa said: 'Someone who wants to go on a journey with us, enter a world that is surreal, someone who will allow themselves to feel feelings which might be uncomfortable.
