Jasprit Bumrah Stamps Name On Lord's Board Of Honour Following Fifer Against England
Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah entered the Lord's honour board on Friday following his five-wicket haul against England in the third Test of the five-match series between the sides at the fabled stadium in London.
Bumrah, who ended the first innings with a fifer, etched his name on the prestigious honours list at the storied cricket ground to help India limit England to a score of 387.
Bumrah, who had picked up just a single wicket on the opening day of the Lord's test with the dismissal of Harry Brook, added to his tally on the second day of the game with the removal of Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Chris Woakes and Jofa Archer.
The star Indian seamer was helped by fellow quick Maohammed Shami and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who picked up a couple of wickets each as Siraj removed Jamie Smith for 51 runs and Brydon Carse for 56, while Reddy topped the English openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett for 18 and 23 runs respectively on the opening day. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja dismissed the dangerous Ollie Pope for 44 runs.
Returning English pacer Jofra Archer got the better of Yashasvi Jaiswal as the seamer removed the southpaw for 13 runs, before English skipper Stokes dismissed Karun Nair for 40 runs. Indian captain Shubman Gill fell to Brydon Carse for 16 runs as KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant closed out Day 2 unbeaten on 53 runs and 19 runs respectively. India finished off the second day of the contest on 145/3.
The series remains steadily in the balance at 1-1 as England picked up a win in the opening Test at the Headingley Stadium before India posted a historic triumph at Edgbaston.

McIlroy in contention, Aaron Rai placed 26th in Scotland
Gotterup rocketed to the top of the leaderboard following a sensational 61 to lead by two shots. He trailed leader Chris Gotterup by four strokes at the Renaissance Club. North Berwick (Scotland), Jul 12 (PTI) Rory McIlroy, who spent the last few months struggling for motivation after his Masters achievement in Augusta, seemed to be finding his form as he shot 2-under 68 and 5-under 65 in the first two rounds of Genesis Scottish Open here. Indo-British golfer Aaron Rai has shot 69-67 and was tied 26th, as Indian-Americans Sahith Theegala and Akshay Bhatia have skipped the event. Gotterup, who won the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic on the PGA TOUR, was a relative unknown on these shores ahead of his arrival in East Lothian. The 25-year-old Gotterup began the second round four shots off the quartet of overnight leaders. However, he got his birdie blitz underway with a 45-footer at the second before reaching the turn in a brilliant 29. When he added three more birdies by the 14th hole, there were murmurs of the magical number 59 but he parred his way home to equal the course record and set the clubhouse target of 11 under. Gotterup's closest rival proved to be Harry Hall at nine under, with English pair Matt Fitzpatrick and Marco Penge and Swede Ludvig Åberg one shot further back in a share of third. McIlroy briefly held the lead under sunny skies on Scotland's golf coast, ultimately reaching seven under after his round of 65, alongside American duo Keith Mitchell and Jake Knapp, Austrian Sepp Straka, Canada's Nick Taylor and German Matti Schmid. Defending champion Robert MacIntyre birdied the 17th to get inside the cutline at one under par. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler had a pair of three-putts but still shot 68 and was six shots behind in tied 21. PTI Cor AH AH This report is auto-generated from PTI news service. 'What happened at the end is just..': KL Rahul gives a mature take on the Gill-Crawley incident at Lord's
Following the culmination of a thrilling day of Test cricket at Lord's, Tim Southee and KL Rahul spoke out the incident that occurred towards the end of the day's play between Shubman Gill and Zak Crawley. read more It was drama at the end of Day 3 at Lord's as things got heated between England opener Zak Crawley and Indian captain Shubman Gill. Since England had the task of playing out the remaining five minutes, Crawley enabled his delaying tactics and made sure that the play did not go beyond one over. Gill, who witnessed Crawley cheekily burning the time with his time-wasting acts, fumed in anger. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah clapped in sarcasm as Crawley apparently faked pain in his hand after defending the ball from the middle of the bat. 'It's good. always exciting to see both sides animated towards the end. Not sure what they were complaining about when Gill was lying down getting a massage in the middle of the day yesterday. it's obviously part of the game. near the end of the day, it's an exciting way to finish the day. Asked about Crawley in jest, Southee gave a tongue-in-cheek reply, as quoted by PTI. Also Read | KL Rahul becomes first Indian to achieve this feat in nearly 30 years with second century at Lord's KL Rahul excuses Crawley KL Rahul, who is an opener as well, tried to be in the shoes of Crawley. 'Yeah, he (Crawley) will be assessed overnight. hope he'll be alright to carry on tomorrow." Quoted by PTI. Rahul said Crawley's tactic was understandable considering he is an opener himself. 'What happened at the end is just part of the game now. I understand from an opening batter's point of view. I know exactly what was going on and everyone knows exactly what was going on. But an opening batter will understand completely what happened in the last five minutes,' he said. Gill too was irked with the tactics of Crawley and his raw emotions were amplified through the audio from the stump mic. 'I have seen him fired up but obviously we wanted to bowl two overs. There were six minutes left. Obviously, two overs is a no-brainer that any team will bowl two overs with six minutes to go. 'It's a bit of theatrics at the end. We were all pumped up either way because we know how difficult it is for a batter to come in to bat for two overs when you have been in the field all day. We were hoping we could get a wicket there and a wicket at the end of the day's play would have been perfect for us,' added Rahul. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
