'Maa' box office collections day 9: Kajol starrer sees modest growth; Collects Rs 29.25 Cr in India
Kajol's horror film 'Maa' continues its steady journey at the box office. After earning Rs 1 crore on its second Friday, the film saw a mild but welcoming boost on Day 9, collecting around ₹1.75 crore, based on early estimates by the Sacnilk website.
Now the total collections stand at Rs 29.25 crore in India.
Directed with emotional depth and backed by strong performances delivered by Kajol, Ronit Roy, and Indraneil Sengupta, 'Maa' has connected with a niche audience. Though not a mass-market blockbuster, the film has carved out a quiet space with its sensitive storytelling and grounded themes.
Occupancy Grows Through the Day
Saturday's overall Hindi occupancy stood at 22.07%, but the numbers rose gradually through the day.
Morning shows were sparse at just 7.73%. By evening, occupancy had climbed to 26.37%, and night shows touched 32.19%. Pune was among the best-performing cities. It had an overall occupancy hitting 30.25%, and night shows reaching 42%.
Kajol Reveals Intense Fights With Ajay Devgn During 'Maa', Shares Emotional Truth
Mumbai and NCR regions also contributed to the day's total, though footfall remained modest.
Slow and Steady as It Nears ₹30 Cr Mark
With Sunday still to go, 'Maa' is expected to cross the Rs 30 crore mark by the end of its second weekend. For a mid-budget family drama without big-ticket action or spectacle, that's a good number
Maa - Movie review
ETimes rated the film with 3 stars and our official review reads, "Kajol delivers a compelling performance as a mother pushed to the edge, balancing vulnerability with fierce resolve.
Kherin Sharma and Rupkatha Chakraborty are both impressive as young girls caught in the storm of ancient evil. Ronit Bose Roy lends solid support as the village sarpanch. While it doesn't reinvent the genre, the film delivers a mythologically rooted horror tale that makes for a decent one-time watch.
"
While its box office graph hasn't seen major spikes, 'Maa' has shown consistency — and in a market crowded with louder releases, that quiet stability counts. Kajol's performance continues to draw praise, and the film is expected to mint more numbers in the coming days.

The article also suggested that her total net worth could be as high as Rs 41 crore, mainly due to her success on platforms like Instagram. This information went viral on social media, sparking debates and reactions from netizens. Many were shocked, especially when comparisons were made between her earnings and the income of academically accomplished individuals. IIT Alumnus Reacts: 'World's Truly Fair?' A now-viral post by an IIT graduate, @digitalsangghi on X (formerly Twitter) expressed frustration about the comparison between academic success and online fame. The post read: Viral post | Credit: X 'Studied 14 hours daily to crack IIT, gave up everything. Today? Barely 100 people know me. Apoorva Mukhija aka Rebel Kid | Credit: Insta/The Rebel Kid In an honest and humorous interview with Bollywood Bubble, Apoorva rubbished the Rs 41 crore net worth claims. Laughing at the reports, she said: 'I'm everywhere, but my net worth is not even close to Rs 41 crore. I don't even make one-tenth of that!' She further added that her clothes were rented, her heels dusty, her nails fake, and the most expensive thing she wore was a Rs 20,000 watch. Apoorva even shared how her mother was confused by the viral rumours. 'My mom sent me the screenshot and asked, 'Where's all this money? Why aren't we buying a house yet?' she joked. Does She Really Charge Rs 6 Lakh for a Reel? Contrary to online claims, Apoorva clarified that no brand currently pays her Rs 6 lakh for a reel, and that her income is much more modest than people assume. The Rebel Kid addressed it head-on in her Instagram story, sarcastically writing: 'Galat hai bhai???' (This is wrong, bro?) While she didn't win The Traitors, her bold personality and quick wit made her one of the most talked-about contestants. Apoorva's charm lies in her honesty — she doesn't pretend to live a glamorous life and isn't afraid to laugh at exaggerated reports about her earnings. What's the Real Story Behind Rebel Kid's Net Worth? In today's social media age, rumours spread fast — and so do assumptions about influencers' wealth. While many believe that Apoorva Mukhija, aka Rebel Kid, has built a Rs 41 crore net worth, she's made it clear that the figures being circulated are far from the truth. Her actual income is not as extravagant as claimed, and for now, rented clothes and modest living reflect her reality more than multi-crore figures.

Amid Deepika Padukone-Sandeep Reddy Vanga Row, Rashmika Mandanna Says, "It's Pretty Normal"
Deepika Padukone's reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit has ignited a fresh debate around actors' working hours and the demanding nature of film shoots. Weighing in on the conversation, actress Rashmika Mandanna, who previously worked with Sandeep Vanga on Animal, has now shared her perspective on the issue. In a recent interview with Mojo Story, Rashmika said, 'Today, when the debate is going on, I know a lot of people have opinions about it, and rightly so. But it's fair that you went and told your director, 'Okay, this is the timeframe I want to work in. Can we do this?'' she said. 'Of course, it's their personal debate. But just to throw a little light on these things, there are much worse scenarios happening where you are working 2–3 days without going home, without even having a little nap," she added. Sharing her own experience working across multiple industries, Rashmika spoke of the contrasting schedules between regional and Hindi cinema. She said, 'I do work in multiple industries, which is, for example, in the South – Telugu industry, Kannada industry, or Tamil industry, we work 9 am to 6 pm, like it's our office hours. After shoot, we spend time with family, we go to sleep and we head to shoot the next day. In Hindi, I've realised it's a 9 am to 9 pm shift. It's 12 working hours so now as an actor, I am open to both of these working hours because this is what my firm requires.' She didn't shy away from calling out the extreme lengths some productions go to. 'Some films you can start at 9 am and are supposed to finish at 9 pm, but they actually carry on till the next day, 9 pm. So you're working 36 to 48 hours straight. We work around the clock. It's pretty normal,' she added. Deepika Padukone's decision to leave Spirit reportedly stemmed from creative differences and demands that included an eight-hour workday, profit-sharing, and substantial compensation. The actress has since been replaced by Triptii Dimri in the film.
