India's civil aviation authority has ordered an inspection of cockpit fuel switches on Boeing Co. 737 and 787 aircraft operating in the country following a preliminary report into the deadly crash of an Air India 787 last month that was caused by a cut-off in kerosene supply.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation asked operators to complete the inspections within a week to ensure continued airworthiness and safety of operation, according to a statement on Monday.

VinFast, RoadGrid in Indian aftersales partnership

Vietnamese battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufacturer, VinFast Auto, announced it has signed a partnership agreement with India's RoadGrid to collaborate in building an EV charging and aftermarket services network in India. VinFast's local subsidiary, VinFast Auto India Ltd, plans to have a charging and aftersales service network in place in India before it begins BEV deliveries later this year. The company said it aims 'to lay a strong foundation for sustained expansion and deliver a premium ownership experience in the rapidly evolving electric mobility space.' VinFast confirmed it aims to have 120 extended service workshops in place in India by partnering with local service providers, including RoadGrid. The deal follows shortly after it signed a similar aftermarket services partnership with myTVS. VinFast confirmed the deals are part of its preparations for its upcoming product launch in India. Vinfast said RoadGrid provides EV charging and aftersales solutions across India, combining advanced charging infrastructure and integrated service solutions. The company is 'dedicated to developing a smart and scalable ecosystem tailored to the evolving needs of electric vehicle users across the country.' VinFast confirmed the collaboration with RoadGrip will 'enable real-time charging access, diagnostics-driven service offerings, and enhanced digital integration to support a scalable EV ecosystem.' VinFast Asia's CEO, Pham Sanh Chau, said in a statement: 'At VinFast- our vision for India to build an entire EV ecosystem grounded in quality, accessibility, and long-term customer support. Our goal is to make owning an electric vehicle as effortless and reassuring as possible. By joining hands with RoadGrid, we are taking meaningful steps to ensure that every VinFast customer in India has access to dependable charging and responsive service.' RoadGrid's CEO, Deepesh Shrinath, said 'VinFast's entry into the Indian EV market is a turning point, and we are proud to be part of their journey. Together, we aim to redefine EV ownership through smart infrastructure, real-time connectivity, and a reliable service backbone.' India hits 50% non-fossil power milestone ahead of 2030 clean energy target

(Reuters) -India said on Monday it has achieved 50% of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources — five years ahead of its 2030 target under the Paris Agreement, signalling accelerating momentum in the country's clean energy transition. WHY IT'S IMPORTANT The announcement comes as India's renewable power output rose at its fastest pace since 2022 in the first half of 2025, while coal-fired generation declined nearly 3%. Fossil fuels still accounted for over two-thirds of the increase in power generation last year. India plans to expand coal-fired capacity by 80 GW by 2032 to meet rising demand. CONTEXT The country had missed its 2022 renewable target of 175 GW, but ramped up solar and wind additions since then. India now targets 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030 - including hydro and nuclear. The government is also pushing for battery storage, circularity in solar and wind components, and green hydrogen to deepen decarbonization. BY THE NUMBERS The country added nearly 28 GW of solar and wind in 2024 and has already added 16.3 GW of wind and solar capacity in the five months through May, government data showed. Excluding large hydro, renewable energy accounted for about 184.6 GW as of June end.
