Indian PM Modi to visit Gujarat on May 26-27, inaugurate and launch development projects worth Rs 53,414 crore
On May 26 in Bhuj, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 33 development projects worth Rs 53,414 crore, with the projects spanning key sectors and will be undertaken by major departments and Boards including the Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Roads and Buildings Department, Water Supply Department, Pavitra Yatra Dham Vikas Board, Power Grid, and Deendayal Port Authority, the release said.
According to the release, PM modi will inaugurate development projects including 220/66 kV Babarzar Substation, 132/66 kV Kansumra Substation in Jamnagar; 66 kV HTLS Transmission Lines in Amreli, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath; 11 MW Solar PV Project at Jambudiya Vidi in Morbi; 10 MW Solar PV Project at Manjal, 35 MW Solar PV Project at Lakadia in Kutch; 210 MW Solar PV Project at Babarjar in Jamnagar; Widening and strengthening of Layja-Bada-Mapar-Modkuba-Lathedi-Sandhan-Suthari Road in Kutch; Expansion and strengthening of Bhirandiyara-Hodko-Dhordo Tent City Road; Banaskantha-Sankari Project: Transmission network extension to increase Available Transfer Capability (ATC); Oil Jetty No 8, Dome and transit storage godowns at Cargo Jetty area, Port Area Expansion for EXIM cargo storage in Kandla; Additional road connectivity from Adipur to Cargo Berth 16 and National Highway 141; Common connectivity for the container terminal at Tuna-Tekra; D-type residential quarters at Port Colony in Gopalpuri; Centre of Excellence at DPA Administrative Office in Gandhidham; Development of temple premises and surrounding area, including Khatla Bhavani and Chachar Kund at Mata na Madh.
Additionally, the foundation stone for key development projects will be laid, including 800 kV HVDC project for power transmission from the newly developed Khawda Renewable Energy Zone; Transmission system for an additional 7 GW of power from Khawda Renewable Park; 400/220 kV Mevasa Substation, 400/220 kV Dholera-2 Substation in Kutch and Ahmedabad respectively; 800 MW Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant Unit, Remodeling of the new marshalling yard for the coal handling plant at Ukai, Tapi; Pump mode operation for the 60 MW unit of Kadana Hydro Electric Plant; Storm-proof underground power distribution network in Gandhidham city, Construction of the Palasava-Bhimsar-Hamirpur-Fategadh CC road, Strengthening of the Kotda-Bitta Road, Group Improvement Water Supply Scheme in Abdasa in Kutch; Four-lane high-speed corridor from Bhuj to Nakhatrana; Construction of a 10 MW Green Hydrogen Production Facility, Construction of 3 Road Over Bridges and improvement of 6-lane roads at Kandla; Development of Hyperloop Pod Technology at Kandla Port; and Tourism infrastructure development at Dholavira.

North Al Sharqiyah Governorate showcases development projects
Ibra: The Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah reviewed its ongoing and future development projects during a meeting held on Wednesday in the Wilayat of Ibra. The meeting highlighted developmental, urban, and service projects in the governorate, with a total value exceeding OMR100 million, along with a range of tourism, real estate, and heritage initiatives. Attendees were briefed on projects in the Al Mudhaibi Industrial City, where investments have surpassed OMR11 million, as well as Souq Al Mawared project in the Wilayat of Sinaw, implemented at an estimated cost of OMR10 million. Additionally, the meeting covered the second phase of the water distribution network project in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, currently underway with a budget of over OMR15 million. The Ministry of Economy and the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority also delivered presentations outlining the ministry's efforts in monitoring various projects across Oman's governorates and the authority's role in approving tenders, projects, and advancing local content. The meeting was attended by Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, Eng. Badr Salim Al Maamari, Chairman of the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority, Mahmoud Yahya Al Dhuhli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah and a some officials.

Service and municipal projects over OMR2.4mn implemented in Adam
Adam: The Wilayat of Adam in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is witnessing the implementation of a series of service and municipal projects aimed at enhancing public service efficiency, with a total cost exceeding OMR2.43 million. Multiple sectors These projects span multiple sectors, including internal road paving, market construction, and the development of recreational facilities, as part of a balanced plan to distribute development across the governorate's wilayats. Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, highlighted that the ongoing projects cover essential sectors that directly impact citizens' daily lives. Among the most prominent is the vegetable and fruit market project, which has reached 75% completion, along with the design and implementation of an internal road network spanning approximately 35 kilometres. The consultancy services project for the design of currently implemented roads has been fully completed (100%), while work continues on the Al-Handali industrial layout, with progress reaching around 40%. The Wilayat of Adam has also received several developmental initiatives costing over OMR1.2 million, including the construction of market shades, an animal feed market equipped with essential services, maintenance of damaged road sections, and street lighting leading to public facilities such as Adam Public Park. Additionally, expansion works and lighting installations have been carried out on the road leading to Adam Air Base, along with the supply and installation of 257 streetlight poles along the Adam-Sinaw Road (Phase 1), covering 13.5 kilometres. Adam Public Park stands out as a key project in advancing the wilayat's community infrastructure. Spanning over 250,000 square metres, the park is undergoing comprehensive development to transform it into an integrated tourist and recreational facility catering to all segments of society. Dr. Mohammed Ali Za'abnoot Al Mahri, Wali of Adam, emphasised that these developmental projects reflect the tangible outcomes of decentralised development policies. He noted the continuous coordination between the Governor's Office, local municipal councils, and relevant authorities, which has significantly accelerated project completion. He also stressed the importance of field follow-ups to monitor implementation details. On his turn, Nasser Mohammed Al Dar'ei, a member of the Municipal Council representing Adam, stated that road lighting projects hold special priority in the municipal agenda due to their direct impact on safety and mobility. He explained that the improvements along the Adam-Sinaw Road align with this vision. Sultan Said Al Mahrouqi, another Municipal Council member, affirmed that the current projects stimulate economic activity in the wilayat while enhancing its readiness to attract visitors and investors alike. He emphasised that quality facilities and attractive infrastructure are fundamental to strengthening investment appeal and tourism promotion.

India, Kuwait discuss important bilateral developments, matters for diaspora welfare
Kuwait City: Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Adarsh Swaika, called upon the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior of Kuwait, Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and held discussions on diaspora and bilateral development, the Embassy of India in Kuwait shared on Thursday. In a post on X, the Embassy of India in Kuwait noted that Ambassador Adarsh Swaika apprised the Deputy PM of important issues of bilateral development between India and Kuwait. Ambassador Swaika also conveyed matters concerning the welfare of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait during the meeting. The Embassy wrote on X, "Amb @AdarshSwaika1 called on the Dy PM & Minister of Interior H.E Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. Ambassador apprised him of important bilateral developments and conveyed matters concerning welfare of Indian Diaspora in Kuwait". Earlier on Wednesday, Ambassador Swaika had also met Aziz Al-Dehani, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs. The Indian Embassy noted that discussions were held on various bilateral consular and labour matters. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri met with Tareq Sulaiman Al-Roumi, Kuwait's Minister of Oil and Chairman of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, during his participation at the 9th OPEC International Seminar held in Vienna. Kuwait currently ranks as the 6th largest source of crude oil, the 4th most significant source of LPG, and stands as India's 8th largest hydrocarbon trade partner. The series of high-level interactions comes after the all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda had participated in a series of events as a part of India's diplomatic outreach on Operation Sindoor. Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, part of India's multi-party delegation to Kuwait, described the group's engagements as wide-ranging and impactful. "Kuwait had very strongly condemned the attack in Pahalgam. Kuwait has a very strong position when it comes to terrorism. India and Kuwait also have a joint working group on Security and counter-terrorism... Kuwait is also an influential member of the Gulf Cooperation on Terrorist Financing, and it also has significant financial and economic leverage on Pakistan. The fact that any acts of terrorism would lead to a strong response from India and therefore, will have an impact on the region and beyond is something that Kuwaiti interlocutors have internalised and taken note of", he had observed. Bilateral ties between the two countries see frequent Foreign Office Consulatations and a Joint Ministerial Commission. MEA highlighted that Kuwait remains a reliable supplier of crude oil and LPG energy needs of India. India and Kuwait have friendly ties which have stood the test of times. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), previously underscored that the Indian community with a strength of approx. 1 million is the largest expatriate community in Kuwait and is regarded as the community of first preference among the expatriate communities.
