Parkway Life Reit to exit Malaysia
The deal will mark the Reit's exit from Malaysia, as the units and lots were its sole investment in the market and contributed only 0.2 per cent to the trust's asset value, said the manager in a bourse filing.
The strata units and lots are located in MOB Specialist Clinics, within the compound of Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur. The hospital is owned and operated by integrated healthcare provider IHH Healthcare , a substantial unitholder of PLife Reit.
In addition, the purchaser, Pantai Medical Centre, is a wholly owned unit of IHH Healthcare.
The units and lots have a floor area of 2,444 square metres and comprise three ground floor units, three medical consulting suite units on the second and seventh floor, the entire eighth floor and 69 carpark lots.
The manager noted that the divestment is in line with the manager's asset recycling strategy and will strengthen PLife Reit's balance sheet.

It will also 'provide greater financial flexibility for PLife Reit to seize other attractive investment opportunities offering better value', said the manager.
The sale consideration is around 25.6 per cent higher than the original purchase price of RM16 million for the units and lots in 2012.
It is also 4.6 per cent above the average of the units and lots' latest valuations of RM19.2 million as at Dec 31, 2024. Independent valuations were carried out by Nawawi Tie Leung Property Consultants and Knight Frank Malaysia.
The manager added that a proportion of the sale consideration has been paid by Pantai Medical Centre in cash on Monday, with the remaining to be paid pursuant to terms of the sale and purcahse agreement.
Units of PLife Reit ended up 0.5 per cent or S$0.02 at S$4.20 on Monday, before the announcement. Shares of IHH Healthcare closed 1.5 per cent or S$0.03 higher at S$2.04.

SIA flights from S'pore to Cambodia and Thailand operating normally amid border dispute
All Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights between Singapore and Cambodia, as well as between Singapore and Thailand, continue to operate normally despite a deadly border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia. A spokesperson for the SIA Group said its top priority is the safety of customers and its employees. "We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will adjust our flights where necessary," the spokesperson added. A long-simmering border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia escalated to deadly violence on July 24 as their military forces clashed at multiple spots, leaving at least 12 people dead. The flare-up is part of a broader disagreement with origins stretching back more than a century and involves parts of a region known as the Emerald Triangle, where the boundaries of Thailand, Cambodia and Laos meet. The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia will attend mediation talks over their deadly border conflict in Malaysia on July 28 at 3pm local time at the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim invited representatives from both countries. Malaysia, which chairs the regional grouping Asean, has informed the Thai government that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet would also be attending the talks, the statement said. According to The Nation, flights between Thailand and Cambodia are continuing as normal, as Cambodia's declared restricted area is limited and does not significantly impact air traffic departing from Thailand. Alternative flight paths are also readily available.

'We will not tolerate it': Car wash operators serving only Singapore vehicles risk losing business licences, says Johor govt, Singapore News
Local authorities in JB have been instructed to revoke the business licences of car wash operators who refuse to serve locals and cater exclusively to foreign customers, including those driving Singapore-registered cars. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Johor Property Expo 2025 at Angsana Johor Bahru Mall on Thursday (July 24), State Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said he viewed such behaviour seriously. "If someone is doing business in Johor but only prioritises foreigners while sidelining locals just for bigger profits, then we will not tolerate it," said Datuk Mohd Jafni, reported The Star. "I will instruct local councils to cancel the licences of any car wash operators who insist on only accepting foreign-registered vehicles, especially those from Singapore." Malaysian allegedly turned away by operator The move comes after a Malaysian claimed on social media that his car was refused service because the operators only catered to Singaporean customers. According to the man, he approached a car wash operator to get his car cleaned but was turned away, with one staff member allegedly telling him, "Singaporean cars only". It was also reported that the car wash operator, staffed by foreign workers, also turned away local customers, claiming all slots had been booked by Singaporean customers. According to the New Straits Times, Datuk Mohd Jafni also issued a warning to all business operators who prioritise large profits without considering the needs of locals. "I wish to remind these business operators not to focus solely on making money by prioritising foreigners. Yes, we understand they want to maximise profits, but they also have to understand their corporate social responsibility," he said. Datuk Mohd Jafni further stated that local authorities would be instructed to investigate such businesses and take firm action if the practice continues. [[nid:720205]]
