Singer climbs sea link railing, shoots video of stunt; FIR filed

Mumbai: Police on Tuesday launched a search for a singer-songwriter,
Yasser Desai
(35), after he allegedly climbed the railing of the Bandra-Worli sea link and performed a dangerous stunt early in the morning.
They lodged an FIR against him and two aides after clips of the stunt went viral.
Police are probing whether the stunt was related to any upcoming music video's launch. Desai is said to have sung over 50 songs in Hindi films.
Motorists who shot videos of the stunt, some of whom suspected a suicide attempt, alerted police on social media. "We reviewed the CCTV on the sea link and found that a person stopped his car on reaching the bridge.
He was accompanied by two others. He climbed the bridge's edge while the other two captured his act. They later left in the car," said a Bandra police officer. "The motive will be known once he is brought to the police station.

1 2 L ucknow: The UP Special Task Force (STF) apprehended Harveer Singh, alias Kake Sardar, a notorious fraudster with a Rs 50,000 bounty on his head, in Amritsar, Punjab, on Tuesday. Harveer was wanted in connection with a cheating case registered at Paras Pur police station in Gonda under BNS Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 504, 506, and 406. Harveer, originally from Basarke village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab, had been absconding after duping Gonda resident Sunil Kumar Dwivedi of Rs 50 lakh in 2021. Dwivedi's troubles began when he met Chandan Dixit, a co-accused from Chitrakoot, who introduced him to Harveer and Madan Gupta. They convinced Dwivedi to invest in a mining contract in Fatehpur, showcasing forged documents of a mining lease and promising a 10% partnership and substantial profits. Trusting them, Dwivedi handed over Rs 50 lakh, but the trio vanished without fulfilling their promises. The STF successfully apprehended Harveer near Parvati Hospital in Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar, based on intelligence inputs. STF recovered a mobile phone, an Aadhaar card, and Rs 2,000 in cash from Harveer's possession. According to the STF, Harveer is part of a well-organised inter-state gang involved in preparing fake documents and luring gullible victims with fake investment promises. The gang reportedly was active in Gonda, Lucknow and Barabanki. During interrogation, he admitted to duping people using similar tactics involving fake contracts, money doubling schemes, and shell companies. His gang also claimed connections with scrap contracts and even operated a steel plant in Bhopal as part of the ruse, the STF Singh alias Kake Sardar has multiple fraud-related cases registered against him across Uttar Pradesh. These include cases under BNS sections related to cheating, forgery, and criminal intimidation in Gonda (Itiyathok and Paras Pur), Barabanki (Cyber Crime Station), and Lucknow (Indira Nagar and Gomti Nagar). The charges range from BNS 406, 419, 420 (cheating and criminal breach of trust) to 467, 468, 471 (forgery) and sections 504, 506, and 34 (criminal intimidation and common intent). Following his arrest, Harveer was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Amritsar, where the STF obtained transit remand. He will now be brought to UP for further legal proceedings.

New Delhi: A four-year-old boy died after falling into an open drain in northwest Delhi's Mahindra Park on Monday. A case of negligence has been registered. The boy, Samsuddin, lived with his family in Bharola village. According to police, they received information about the incident from a hospital the child was taken to. The boy, while watching the procession, had wandered off and fallen into the nearby open drain. People heard screams for help and rushed to rescue the child. Residents pulled him out, and an ambulance was immediately called. He was transported to a hospital in Jahangirpuri, where doctors declared him "brought dead" on arrival. Police at Mahendra Park police station have registered an FIR under Section 106(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to causing death by negligence. A response was sought from MCD regarding the incident. It claimed that the drain belonged to PWD. No response has come from PWD. Police said they will write to the agency concerned to obtain details. This is not the first such tragedy in the city. In March, a three-year-old boy died after falling into an open drain in northeast Delhi's Khajuri Khas. The boy was playing with his eight-year-old sister when he accidentally slipped and fell. Last year, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl lost her life after falling into an open drain, also in Khajuri Khas. The toddler was returning home with her mother. In Sept, a 32-year-old man died after falling into a drain in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura. In Aug, the body of a seven-year-old boy was found in an open drain in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar. It is believed the child went to play some distance from his house and accidentally fell into the drain. Also in Aug, a man died after falling into a drain in Paschim Vihar. In July, the deaths of a woman and her son in a drain in east Delhi's Ghazipur sparked public outrage.

MLA Dhas's son charged for mowing down farmer in Ahilyanagar

Nashik: A 34-year-old farmer from Jategaon village in Parner taluka, Ahilyanagar, died after being struck by a car driven by MLA Suresh Dhas's son on Monday at 10.30pm. "The farmer was riding his motorcycle and crossing the Ahilyanagar-Pune road at the time of the accident when the car, coming from Ahilyanagar, knocked him down, causing his death," said sub-inspector Mangesh Nagargoje of the Supa police station. Supa police registered an FIR for rash driving and causing death due to negligence in the case. The deceased has been identified as Nitin Shelke. Nagargoje said, "Sagar Dhas, the son of MLA Suresh Dhas, was behind the wheel at the time of the accident and was charged under relevant sections of BNS. He was in the car with one other person. The MLA was not in the car." According to police, medical examinations for alcohol and other tests were carried out. The officer said no arrest has been made yet. The police have filed charges under sections 106(1) (causing death due to negligence), 281 (negligent driving on a public road), 125(a)(b) (endangering human life and personal safety), and section 184 (driving dangerously) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Attempts to contact MLA and his son for a comment were not successful.
