Warwick Farm preview: Trainer Tracey Bartley is hoping Mabel can bow out on a winning note
A $5,000 weanling buy from Inglis Digital in 2019, Mabel has been a wonderful member of Bartley's team with six wins, nine placings and over $400,000 in prizemoney.
A two-time city winner, Mabel last won was at Kembla's stand-alone meeting on The Gong Day in November 2023 when she won a Benchmark 78 Handicap but she has run some terrific races since.
She was runner-up to Angel Fund in a Randwick Midway in January
fourth to Wallenda on the Kensington in March.
This time in, the six-year-old was a three length seventh to Storm The Ramparts and fourth behind Bundeena both in a Benchmark 78 races at Randwick.

'She is racing well and deserves to win another race in her last couple of runs,' said Bartley.
'She went well the other day. She just got held up a little bit.'
The daughter of Dream Ahead lines up in the Headwater @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1000m) where she has drawn barrier 1.
'She looks bang on again,' Bartley said.
'From barrier 1, she won't have to be right out the back. She should settle midfield. I imagine her settling fifth or sixth and hopefully they can get into the clear at the right time.
'She is dropping back in grade and if she has any luck from the alley, I think she will be hard to beat.
Joining Mabel on the trip to Warwick Farm is last start winner Magicon to tackle TAB Handicap (2200m).
The son of Prized icon has his first try over 2200m at Grafton on July 16 and led all-the-way to beat Peter Snowden's imported gelding Behtar.
'It was nice to see him win the other day because he's had a few issues,' Bartley said.
'He has kissing spine to we've had his back and hocks injected.
'It's nice to finally have had a preparation where everything has gone right.
'That was the first time we have been able to get him up to a distance we've always wanted to see him run over.
'I was rapt to see him to the job and I think he will really go on with it now.
'I don't know how strong this race is but I'm sure he will run a really nice race.'

Brad Waters' horses to follow from Flemington on Saturday
News Corp form analyst Brad Waters runs his eye over Saturday's meeting at Flemington finding five horses to follow and forgive from the card. FENESTELLA (2.1 length 4th of 5, Race 1): The Shane Nichols -trained filly ran fourth over 1200m at Seymour on debut last month but went around at big odds despite being only one of five runners in the first race at Flemington. The race was a slowly-run affair, causing Fenestella to be flat-footed when the sprint went on early in the straight. However, Fenestella finished off her race strongly to finish two lengths from the winner. The Brazen Beau filly could continue to improve as she gains experience. CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (0.35-length 2nd of 8, Race 2): The Irish import looks to have had the benefit of more time in Australia with his excellent second at Flemington. Changingoftheguard went OK when resuming in Sydney on June 14 but went into Saturday's race off a six-week break. The former Aidan O'Brien-trained stayer raced handy to the speed and boxed on well in the straight to be beaten a long head while giving the winner 5.5kg. He could show up in the Archer Stakes next month. It's not easy to shake off Capper, but De Bergerac has done it! The five-year-old had not raced since March but was prominent throughout the Benchmark 74 contest before going down narrowly, giving the winner 2kg. He looks set to win a couple of similar contests this time in. TOO DARN DISCREET (0.75-length 1st of 15 Race 8): Too Darn Discreet produced a terrific effort to salute at her first crack at open-age racing at Flemington. She was a Group 2 winner as a three-year-old but those horses sometimes fail to progress in their four-year-old seasons. However, Too Darn Discreet's powerful Flemington finish showed she could develop further as her preparation progresses. TOO DARN DISCREET ðŸ'¥ She's back to her best! The Danny O'Brien-trained galloper stepped up to BM84 class and looked a chance to break through for a deserved win but found the smart Too Darn Discreet too strong late. There's a win in store for him in the coming weeks. He's the King of the straight! King Of Roseau brings down the Sydney form and blows them away in the Aurie's Star ðŸ'' @SnowdenRacing1 — 7HorseRacing ðŸŽ (@7horseracing) August 2, 2025 PLEASE FORGIVE: EXIT (1.6-length 3rd of 5, Race 1): Exit was a victim of circumstances when a beaten favourite in the first race of the day. She ended up at the back of the field after a moderate start while the tempo of the five-horse race didn't suit the Ciaron Maher-trained filly. She ran on soundly but was unable to reel in the quinella horses late. She can bounce back in a bigger field soon. DOCUMENTARY (3.6-length 8th of 10, Race 4): The heavily backed Documentary was poised to pounce on the leaders at the halfway point of his 1000m assignment but didn't quicken in the second half of the race to be well held late. However, a later vet's examination found Documentary pulled up lame in a foreleg. FEDERER (1.5-length 2nd of 12, Race 5): Federer had a comfortable run to the home turn but had trouble getting clear running early in the straight, preventing him from building the required momentum to reel in the winner in the last 300m. He's worth another chance. Finishing the day in STYLISH fashion @FlemingtonVRC 😎 @blake_shinn wasn't going to go home without a winner! ‘Absolutely rattled': Bulldogs truth laid bare as Tigers come out firing in Galvin Bowl
Lachlan Galvin has come up against his old Tigers teammates for the first time on Sunday, with one goal: to get the win and return the Bulldogs to the top of the NRL ladder. But the grudge match quickly turned into a first-half ambush, with Benji Marshall's men taking a big 20-4 lead into halftime. After years of rebuilding, the Bulldogs have finally positioned themselves as genuine premiership contenders in 2025, or so we thought. Going into Sunday's grudge match, Canterbury was a perfect 12 from 12 against teams in the bottom 9, but they find themselves on the ropes. On Sunday, the Bulldogs had plenty of early ball after Terrell May dropped the ball off the kick off. But after failing to execute, the Tigers made them pay, running in four tries to one in the first half. And NRL great Cooper Cronk pointed out the Tigers have simply been better in the effort areas. 'The pressure, the intensity, the emotion the Tigers are playing with have the Dogs absolutely rattled,' Ennis said as Adam Doueihi extended the Tigers' lead to 20-0. ' … They are being run over.' Greg Alexander added: 'This is quite remarkable that a team 14th leads the team coming 3rd'. 'This is remarkable given how 2025 has gone.' The Tigers led 20-0 with just minutes to go in the first half before some Stephen Crichton magic put Jacob Preston through a hole to give them a sniff right on halftime. There is plenty of emotion in this, and the second half is sure to provide fireworks on what is a wet and windy Sunday afternoon. 2.50pm: Tigers teach Bulldogs a lesson in a first half masterclass Doueihi was the star of the first half. After being catapulted into the halves just an hour before kickoff, with Benji Marshall opting for the veteran over the youngster Latu Fainu, the rookie coach's move proved to be a masterstroke. Doueihi got the Tigers on the front foot, beating multiple defenders before finding Jahream Bula, who put Jeral Skelton over in the corner for the first points of the afternoon. The 26-year-old then raced away from deep in his own half before putting Bula over. Then Api Koroisau darted out of dummy half, before putting in a perfect grubber to Skelton in the corner. Doueihi then took advantage of a Matt Burton error to sprint away in an incredible length-of-the-field effort to make it 20-0. The Dogs got one back on the stroke of half-time, but it was the Adam Doueihi show in the first half. 2.20pm: Luai gives Galvin a piece of his mind Jarome Luai took his chance to gave it to Lachlan Galvin after the Bulldogs halfback reacted following a strong fend by the Tigers star. Galvin's over-reaction on the ground resulted in a penalty to the Tigers that got them some much-needed momentum.
